Frequency Domain Methods for Demosaicking of Single-Chip RGB/NIR Image Sensors

  • In this paper, We proposed an effective demosaicking method for single chip RGB-NIR sensors to recover RGB and NIR images. As the method operates in the spatial frequency domain, the frequency domain characteristics of the sampled CFA data are investigated. Using the luminance signal in the frequency domain and the chrominance signals are processed separately with different filters. The simulated images using the real images are compared with other state-of-art methods. As a result, the proposed demosaicking method resulted an effective calculation by a single processing which the existing alternating projection method requires repeated calculation.

Synthesis and Optoelectronic Characteristics of Ag2Se Nanoparticle for NIR Sensor Application (근적외선 센서를 위한 Ag2Se 나노 입자 합성 및 광전기적 특성)

  • In this study, $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles were synthesized by employing the colloidal method. The synthesized $Ag_2Se$ nanocrystals were spherical in shape with a diameter of approximately 4 nm and had high crystallinity. These attributes of $Ag_2Se$ nanocrystals were determined through images obtained from a high resolution transmission electron microscope. Thin films comprising the synthesized $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles had an optical band gap of 1.5 eV. Furthermore, fabricated NIR sensors comprising $Ag_2Se$ nanoparticles exhibited a high detectivity of $5.5{\times}10^9$ Jones (above $1{\times}10^9$) at room temperature, leading to low power consumption

Characteristics of Transmittance Spectrum of Korean Red Ginseng Using VIS/NIR (가시광선 및 근적외선을 이용한 홍삼의 투과스펙트럼 특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of transmittance spectrum of Korean red ginseng using VIS/NIR spectroscopy. The results of this study were as follows; Light intensity affected the characteristics of the spectrum. For over 40% light intensity, the first and second peaks appeared at 700nm and 1,100nm, respectively. For the 20% light intensity, the first and second peaks appeared at 800nm and 1,100nm, respectively. Thus, the typical color characteristics of halogen lamp were similar to each other if over 40% of maximum light intensity power, otherwise it was not. Transmittance spectrum showed different characteristics at different portions of red ginseng. Normal red ginseng showed strong intensity at the first peak around 700nmbecause of reddish internal tissue. However, an internal white core red ginseng showed weak peak-intensity due to whitish internal tissue. There was no significant difference in the second peak at 800nm for the different internal qualities. Third peak at 900nm showed somewhat difference by internal qualities but it was difficult to find significant trend. To separate the differences of the internal qualities, intensity differences between peaks were used. It was possible to classify normal red ginseng by the differences of "peak 1 -peak 2" and "peak 1 - peak 3". In addition, shift of the first and the third peaks in the spectrum could separate normal red ginseng from others.ginseng from others.

Effects of Adsorption Condition on Fat-binding Characteristics of Chitosan (흡착조건이 키토산의 지방질 흡착 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • To study the lipid adsorption characteristic of chitosans with different molecular weights and the degrees of deacetylation, in vitro test and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopic analysis have been performed for the measurement of lipid adsorption characteristics of chitosan. The degrees of deacetylation in chitosans were $70{\%},\;85{\%}\;and\;92{\%}$ at different deacetylation times (1 hr, 2 hrs, 3 hrs), respectively. The molecular weight of each chitosan was controlled by enzymatic hydrolysis, and then the molecular weight of the chitosan was 4 kDa. The bulk density, water holding capacity and fat binding capacity of each chitosan powder were $96.2-504.0{\%},\;374.4-1217.9{\%},\;and\;307.0-659.3{\%}$, respectively. The higher molecular weight of chitosan was exhibited the lower bulk density and the higher water and fat binding capacities. Bindinf capacities of chitosan powders to bile salts, cholesterol and linoleic acid were $41.2-63.3{\%},\;40.8-67.4{\%},\;42.6-72.6{\%}$, respectively. In NIR spectrum of lipid adsorbed chitosan the occurrence static eletronical binding between chitosan and lipid was identified by NIR spectrum peak induced from combination of carboxylic group in lipid and amino group in chitosan. In conclusion, the higher degree of deacetylation and molecular weight of chitosan showed the higher lipid binding capacity and the lipid adsorption of chitosan were occurred by combination of carboxylic group in lipids and amino group in chitosan.

Image Dehazing Algorithm Using Near-infrared Image Characteristics (근적외선 영상의 특성을 활용한 안개 제거 알고리즘)

  • The infrared light is known to be less dependent on background light compared to the visible light, and thus many applications such as remote sensing and image surveillance use the infrared image. Similar to color images, infrared images can also be degraded by hazy weather condition, and consequently the performance of the infrared image-based applications can decrease. Nevertheless, infrared image dehazing has not received significant interest. In this paper, we analyze the characteristic of infrared images, especially near-infrared (NIR) images, and present an NIR dehazing algorithm using the analyzed characteristics. In particular, a machine learning framework is adopted to obtain an accurate transmission map and several post-processing methods are used for further refinement. Experimental results show that the proposed NIR dehazing algorithm outperforms the conventional color image dehazing method for NIR image dehazing.

  • Product distribution and consumption in the military is difficult due to unique contracts and supply systems. It is difficult to change suppliers immediately when quality problem is encountered. Due to these special circumstances, the quality of products must be thoroughly controlled. Sesame oil is used to increase the taste and nutrition of food, but it is more expensive than other cooking oils. Oil producers may blend other cooking oils with sesame oil to make higher profits, so it has become important to identify good and bad products. In this study, pure sesame oil and blend oils were compared by analyzing their smell, taste, chemical components, and near infra-red spectra to determine quality differences between them.

Rapid Characterization and Prediction of Biomass Properties via Statistical Techniques

  • The use of renewable energies has been required to diminish the dependency on fossil fuels. As one of clean energy sources biomass has been extensively studied because various biomass resources necessitated rapid characterization of their chemical and physical properties in an on-line or real-time basis. For such an analysis near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has been successfully applied because of its non-invasive and informative characteristics. In this work, the applicability of nonlinear chemometric techniques based on biomass near infrared (NIR) data is evaluated for the rapid prediction of ash/char contents in different types of biomass. The prediction results of various prediction models and the effect of using preprocessing methods for NIR data are compared using six types of biomass NIR data. The results showed that nonlinear prediction models yielded better prediction performance than linear ones. It also turned out that by adopting the use of proper preprocessing methods the performance of prediction of biomass properties improved.

Effect of Flocculant Injection Ratio in NIR (Near-Infrared Ray) Drying for BIO-SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) of Swage Sludge (하수슬러지 BIO-SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) 생산을 위한 NIR (Near Infrared Ray) 건조시 응집제 주입비율이 미치는 영향)

  • This study executed evaluation of drying characteristics based on the polymer injection rate (8%, 10% and 12%) and the drying method[NIF(near-infrared ray). According to this study analyzed VS, VS/TS, and calorific value compared with 'the auxiliary fuel standard of the thermoelectric power plant and the combined heat & power plant'. The results are as follows. In the case of NIR, the VS was slightly changed at the early stage of the material preheating period and the constant drying rate period with low moisture evaporation. But VS reduction was shown higher as moisture was dried. In the case of non-digested sludge with high VS content, the VS reduction rate by drying was shown lower than that of digested sludge. As the flocculant injection rate increased, the VS loss due th drying was found to be small. Also, the higher the flocculant injection rate was the longer the drying time. Especially, in the case of the NIR drying equipment, as the moisture content of sewage sludge decreased(moisture content 20~40%), the loss of net VS also showed a tendency to increase sharply. It is shown that the high calorific value according to the drying time of the non-digested sludge was changed from 590 kcaℓ/kg to 3,005 kcaℓ/kg and from 539 kcaℓ/kg to 2,796 kcaℓ/kg.

  • We investigated characteristics of meat quality using by spectroscopic methods in visible region. Characteristics of beef muscle quality was measured by using spectrum analysis. We take the 3 samples of meat, and each sample has 3 measuring point. Also each measured samples has alternate thawing time(the state of frozen meat, thawing 20 minute and thawing 40 minute in the room temperature). As a results of experiments, measured intensity has changed by distributions of Myoglobin in meat muscles. And we can distinction the and characteristics of meat quality by distributions of lean meat and fat.
