  • This paper presents a new control scheme for a DVR (Dynamic Voltage Restorer) system consisting of series voltage source PWM converters. To control the negative sequence components of the source, it is necessary to detect the negative sequence components. Generally, a filtering process is used which has some undesirable effects. This paper suggests a new method for separating positive and negative sequences components. This control system is designed using differential controllers and digital filters. The positive and negative sequences are extracted and controlled individually. The performance of the presented controller and scheme are confirmed through simulation and actual experiment with a 2.5kVA prototype DVR system.

  • The purpose of this research is to identify stereotypes toward the single women(30-49 age) held by university students. Stereotypes toward the single women were examined at two levels: to assess students' beliefs about the traits of single women and to categorize the traits into stereotypes. The main results of this study were as follows: 1) Students reported 99 traits associated with the single women. 2) Hierarchical cluster analysis of the trait groupings revealed two high-level clusters: a cluster of 45 positive traits and a cluster of 54 negative traits. Within the positive and negative clusters, 10 middle-level categories, 4 positive categories(enjoy living affluently, independence-oriented, progressive, openhearted), and 6 negative categories(lack of vitality, pitiful, self-centered, picky, childish, self-defensive) were identified. This results suggested that young adults believed negative stereotypes are more typical than positive ones.

  • Some distributions have been used for diagnosing the lead time demand distribution in inventory system. In this paper, we describe the negative binomial distribution as a suitable demand distribution for a specific retail inventory management application. We here assume that customer order sizes are described by the Poisson distribution with the random parameter following a gamma distribution. This implies in turn that the negative binomial distribution is obtained by mixing the mean of the Poisson distribution with a gamma distribution. The purpose of this paper is to give an interpretation of the negative binomial demand process by considering the sources of variability in the unknown Poisson parameter. Such variability comes from the unknown demand rate and the unknown lead time interval.

  • The present study explored a factor, social support, that could mediate the relationship between negative life events and behavioral problems during adolescence. It was hypothesized that social support from parents, peers, and teachers would be an effective mediator between negative life events and delinquent behavior. Data were collected from 161 of the 9th graders in a high school in a coastal community of Oregon. A series of path analyses using regression techniques was used to examine the research hypotheses. Results indicated that social support mediated the relationship between negative life events and delinquent behavior, implying the importance of social support from family, peers, and school in preventing delinquent behavior among adolescents. That is, negative life events were found to exert influence indirectly upon delinquent behavior through its direct effect on social support. Results were discussed in relation to the effects of negative life events on social support and delinquent behavior.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the gender differences in the level of work/family spillover and factors explaining the spillover. Data are gathered from 1,236 Korean men and women aged between 30 to 59, using the structured questionnaire. The main results of this study are as follows. First, both men and women perceive moderate levels of negative and positive spillover from work to family. Second, the levels of negative family to work spillover are higher than then of positive family to work spillover. Third, men report higher levels of positive family to work spillover, but lower levels of negative family to work spillover than women. Sander differences in the levels of negative and positive spillover from work to family are not found. Fourth, only job characteristic factors are associated with four types of spillover of women, while the level of household labor sharing and spousal support are associated with work family spillover of men. Band on these findings, theoretical implications in terms of work-family research and gender norms are discussed.

  • Osteomyelitis of the jaw infected with Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci (CNS) is rarely reported in the Oral and Maxillofacial Region. Staphylococcus is a part of the normal body flora, but it may be cause severe infections and CNS are often described as the important pathogens in nosocomial infections. Although many studies on prevalence and antibiotics of Staphylococcus aureus have been done, but many of these studies focus only on Methicillin-resistant S. aureus and not on methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative Staphylococci (MRCNS). There was a less study about CNS or MRCNS infections in the Oral and Maxillofacial Region. This report describes a case of a 41-year-old male patient who developed osteomyelitis caused by MRCNS on condyle after open reduction and internal fixation and suggests guideline for the prevention of postoperative infection and appropriate recommendation for treatment and control.

  • We discuss a model4-dimensional Friedmann cosmology which may have evolved from a model of 4+D dimensions which admits spontaneous compactification of D dimensions (or N-dimensional variants of the Brans-Dicke (BD) theory). The BD parameter appearing in dimensional reduction is negative $-1<\omega<0$ (for the N-dimensional variants of the BD theory, $-1.5{\leq}{\omega})$. We find that if there had been inflationary transtion to the standard big-bang model, the Universe can undergoe a polar-type expansion during when the gravitational coupling becomes negative. The unique feature is that for the negative w, the density parameter of the post-inflationary Universe falls in a range 0<0<1 even if the Universe is geometrically flat (k = 0).

  • The study assessed the relationship between brand evidence (e.g., brand name, price/value for money, servicescape, core service, employee service and self-image congruence) and positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction, and between positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction in the family restaurant setting. Also, the relationship of positive/negative emotion and brand satisfaction with customer loyalty were assessed. Customers who used five brands of family restaurant in Daegu and Pusan during October of 2008 were surveyed by questionnaires. Brand evidence was positively related to positive emotion and brand satisfaction, and was negatively related to negative emotion. Positive emotion was positively related to brand satisfaction and negative emotion was negatively related to brand satisfaction. Brand satisfaction was positively relatively to customer loyalty. The results indicate that management of family restaurants should focus on brand evidence as a means of increasing profits and sales volume.

  • I studied on the dual principle the negative-positive toward 'the motion of Taijiquan'. The results are as follows. The grade of comprehension on the dual principle for the negative-positive for human-body is equal to the comprehension on Taijiquan. YeoBiSae is judged abstractly for the image of MuGeug and GiSae for the image of TaeGeug on the motion of Taijiquan progressing program. The motion of Taijiquan is divided up the extension and contraction. In the motion of Taijiquan, the extension exercises make use of positive energy and DogMaeg(독맥), the contraction exercises make use of negative energy and ImMaeg(임맥).

  • In an edge-weighted(positive, negative, or zero weights are possible) tree, we want to solve the problem of finding a longest path such that the sum of the weights of the edges in the path is non-negative. We present an algorithm to find a longest non-negative path of a degree 3 tree in Ο(n log n) time, where n is the number of nodes in the tree.
