  • NCTR(Non-Cooperative Target Recognition) refers to the function of radar to identify target on its own without support from other systems such as ELINT(ELectronic INTelligence). ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) image is one of the representative methods of NCTR, but it is difficult to automatically classify the target without an identification database due to the significant changes in the image depending on the target's maneuver and location. In this study, we discuss how to build an identification database using simulation and deep-learning technique even when actual images are insufficient. To simulate ISAR images changing with various radar operating environment, A model that generates and learns images through the process named 'Perfect scattering image,' 'Lost scattering image' and 'JEM noise added image' is proposed. And the learning outcomes of this model show that not only simulation images of similar shapes but also actual ISAR images that were first entered can be classified.

  • Toxicity is usually investigated using a set of standardized animal-based studies which, unfortunately, fail to detect all compounds that induce human adverse events and do not provide detailed mechanistic information of observed toxicity. As an alternative to conventional toxicology, toxicogenomics takes advantage of currently advanced technologies in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics to gain a molecular level understanding of toxicity and to enhance the predictive power of toxicity testing in drug development and risk/safety assessment. In addition, there has been a renewed interest, particularly in various government agencies, to prioritize and/or supplement animal testing with a battery of mechanistically informative in vitro assays. This article provides a brief summary of the issues, challenges and lessons learned in these fields and discuss the ways forward to further advance toxicology using these technologies.

  • Inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) images represent two-dimensional(2-D) spatial distribution of electromagnetic scattering phenomenology against a target. Hence, they are usually used in the areas of automatic target recognition (ATR) or non-cooperative target recognition(NCTR), identifying a target using radar in a long distance. This paper makes use of Korea Miniature Synthetic Aperture Radar(KOMSAR) to generate ISAR images of a real and maneuvering aircraft. The data obtained from KOMSAR are processed to eliminate phase errors due to motion of a target, with the use of entropy-based ISAR autofocusing technique. Results show that we can successfully obtain ISAR images of a real aircraft, and the success of experiments implies that a significant step toward ATR using radar has been established.

  • NCTR(Non-Cooperative Target Recognition) and ATR(Automatic Target Recognition) are methodologies to identify military targets using radar, optical, and infrared images. Among them, a strategy to recognize ground targets using synthetic aperature radar(SAR) images is called SAR ATR. In general, SAR ATR consists of three sequential stages: detection, discrimination and classification. In this paper, a modification of the polar mapping classifier(PMC) to identify inverse SAR(ISAR) images has been made in order to apply it to SAR ATR. In addition, a preprocessing scheme can mitigate the effect from the clutter, and information on the shadow is employed to improve the classification accuracy.

  • Inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) images have been widely used in non-cooperative target recognition(NCTR). One of the most important issues in ISAR imaging is the improvement of the image smeared by target motion. In this paper, we propose the discrete Gabor representation(DGR) in an oversampling scheme for efficient acquisition of high-quality ISAR images. The DGR compartmentally assigns the Gabor coefficients to unit cells of the time-frequency grid related to the given Gabor logons. Thus, it can show an excellent time-frequency concentration and effectively discriminates the Doppler components from point-scatterers. The simulation results demonstrated that the DGR not only obtained high-quality ISAR images but also retained computational efficiency.

  • Dietary restriction (caloric restriction) is the only intervention which has been reliably shown to extend the maximum life span of warm-blooded animals and delay the many phenomena associated with aging. It is also one of the most effective modulators of toxicity, especially cancer endpoints. In spite of the known modulator effects of caloric restriction, the biological mechanisms responsible for these effects had not been in vestigated until recently. The National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), in a collaborative effort with the National Institute of Aging (NIA), initiated a project whereby nine (9) combinations of rodent species/strains and diets were fed both restricted and ad libitum. The NIA's initiative was to identify biomarkers of aging whereas NCTR's initiative was to identify the biological effects associated with the profound effects caloric restriction has in protecting against both spontaneous (age-related) and chemically-induced toxic endpoints. Independent of sex or species, caloric restriction has similar effects on body temperature, oxygen consumption and $CO_2$production. Caloric restriction also decreased lipid glycolysis and metabolism in rats and mice, which suggest decreased production of metabolites which could lead to fatty acid epoxide formation. The age-associated loss of ciradian regulation of intermediate enzymes is also significantly reduced. Moreover, caloric restriction reduced the age-associated feminization of sexually dimorphic liver isozymes, increased several glucocorticoid responsive isozymes, elevated glucagon/insulin ratios, produced less microsomal superoxide and enhanced the capacity for utilzing detoxicating metabolic pathways. Calorically restricted rats have less than half the number of aflatoxin ($AFB_1$)-DNA adducts than ad libitum animals and urinary excretion of $AFB_1$ was increased significantly. Finally, DNA repair mechanisms are enhanced and oncogene expression is decreased in calorically restricted animals.

  • Characteristics of JEM(Jet Engine Modulation) are measured and principal meanings are grasped in this paper. This study's object is to measure RCS and JEM for actual aircraft, especially low speed craft. In experiment, various error are generated from unknown cause and for removal these, calibration technique known as IACT(Isolated Antenna Calibration Technique) is used. Experiment is executed at outdoor and target is T-103 which play in beginner course for ROKAF pilot. JEM spectrum of T-103 and frequency characteristics, doppler effects are extracted. X-band used in military aircraft for air-to-air fighting are selected. The data obtained through this study are analyzed to discriminate target especially low speed aircraft for current using radar(X-band)'s performance.
