Effect of Polyester Polyol and NCO Index to the Physical Properties of Polyurethane Adhesives in Cryogenic and Room Temperature (폴리올의 구조와 NCO Index에 따른 폴리우레탄 접착제의 상온과 초저온에서의 물성 변화)

  • Effect of polyol structure and NCO index on adhesion of PU adhesive at room ($25^{\circ}C$) and extremely low temperature ($-190^{\circ}C$) was investigated. At room temperature adhesive strength of PU adhesive tends to decrease as molecular weight of polyol increases, however, the strength at $-190^{\circ}C$ shows opposite tendency. Adhesive strength of the PU turned out to be directly proportional to the amount of MDI. PU containing aliphatic polyol was higher in shear strength at $-190^{\circ}C$ and the strength of PU with aromatic polyol was higher at room temperature.

  • The microstructures of NATM were examined by SEM, FT-IR spectra, tensile properties, mole % of [NCO/OH], and particle size analyzer. Growing concerns in the environment-friendly industries have led to the development of solvent-free formulations that can be cured. We had synthesized NATM(New Austria Tunnel Method) resin having the ability to protect stainless steel against corrosion. Comparing with general NATM resin and coatings, this resin that synthesized with polyurethane and epoxy was highly stronger in intensity and longer durability. Hybrid resin was composed of polyols, MDI, epoxy, silicone surfactant, catalyst and crosslink agent, and fillers. Moreover, fillers such as fume silica not only accelerated the curing rate but also improved the physical property as thermal barriers. The rigid segments of synthetic resin in mechanical properties were due to fume silica and the increase the mole% of [NCO/OH] for corrosion protection. In conclusion, the hybrid resin microstructure with crosslink agent and fume silica are good material for thermosetting coating of metal substrates such as stainless steel.

  • The relationship between chemical structure and antifungal activity of benzene ring substituents of 3-phenyl-5,5-dimethyloxazolidine-2,4-diones is studied by testing of model compounds and use of conformational data. The analysis revealed a number of structural features as essential for the antifungal effect: (1) the presence of an intact -NCO group and benzene moiety; (2) the distance between para substituents and the N atom within the 5.32∼5.37${\AA}$ range; (3) the distance between substituents X3 and X4, in the interval 5.59 ∼ 5.77 ${\AA}$ for the active analogues.

  • In this study, waterborne polyurethane was prepared from polyester polyol, $H_{12}MDI$, DMPA and sulfopropylated polypropyleneglycol-${\alpha}$,${\omega}$-diamine (SP). The $T_g$ of waterborne polyurethane was increased as the SP content increased, while it was decreased at the NCO/OH ratio of 1.8. Also the hydrolysis-resistance and tensile strength were increased as the SP content increased. The tensile strength decrement of WPU-SP was 2~5% with the exception of WPU-SP-1.

  • Silylated waterborne polyurethane was synthesized by capping the NCO groups of polyurethane prepolymer, prepared from isophrone diisocyanate, poly(tetramethylene glycol) and dimethylol propionic acid, with aminopropyl triethoxysilane. Subsequently, it was mixed with colloidal silica to prepare silylated waterborne polyurethane/silica nanocomposites. The average sizes of nanocomposite particles, measured by dynamic light scattering, showed almost the same value, irrespective of increasing silica content. However, the prepared nanocomposites showed better thermal stability than pure waterborne polyurethane.

  • Three isocyanate groups of IP-$75^{(R)}$ and one hydroxyl group of various amino alcohols were applied for preparing cationic type water-borne polyurthane (PU) having ionic center onto flexible side chains. Average particle size, dispersion stability, viscosity, contact angle, surface energy, glass transition temperature ($T_g$), and adhesion strength of prepared water-borne PUs were measured and analyzed with different NCO/OH mol ratios, ionomers, and neutralizing agents. It was characterized that the prepared PU has a smaller particle size and a better dispersion stability than the conventional cationic water-borne PU containing ionic centers onto main chains.

A Study on Synthesis and Properties of Polyurethane Dispersion Adhesives

  • Polyurethane dispersion (PUD) polymers were synthesized by using polyether and polyester polyol. The effect of ionomeric centers, r(NCO / OH) values, chain extender process, and chain extender types on the adhesion properties was investigated. In the case of polyether-based PUD, the ionic center, r value, chain extension process and chain extender types were not adjusted even after adjustment. In the case of polyester-based PUD, when the ionic center content was more than 2.5%, the state of adhesive strength was $2.0kgf/cm^2$ or more. On the other hand, the initial adhesive strength was excellent at about $1kgf/cm^2$ when the ionic center content was over 3.5%. When the r value was 1.3 or more, it was found that the initial bonding strength and the state of bonding strength were excellent at about $1kgf/cm^2$ and $2.1kgf/cm^2$ or higher, respectively. An IR spectrum analysis of the synthesized PUD confirmed that PUD was composed of urethane based on the N-H characteristic peak at $3340cm^{-1}$ and the urethane characteristic peak at $1730cm^{-1}$. Moreover, the characteristic peaks of the isocyanate ($2260cm^{-1}$) used in the preparation of the prepolymer were not observed. As a result, the residual -NCO was not observed, and urethane was completely synthesized.

  • In this paper, we discuss a symbol clock extraction scheme based on maximizing the band-edge component of the transmitted signal frequency spectrum for applications to 51.84Mbps VDSL system which uses a 16-QAM. The major characteristics of the digital PLL are examined. In addition, we suggest an efficient design method of a sinusoidal look-up table which is used for NCO.

  • This paper proposes a high speed frequency synthesizer with dual phase-locked loop(PLL) structure to improve phase noise level and shape in a wideband receiver. To reduce phase noise and fractional spur, a output frequency of $1^{st}$ PLL used as reference frequency of $2^{nd}$ PLL is changed. The frequency synthesizer has been designed with 1 Hz frequency resolution using digital NCO in 6.5~8.5 GHz wide spectrum. The measured results of the fabricated frequency synthesizer show that the output power is about -3 dBm, the maximum lock-in time and phase noise are within 60 us and -95 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose the design procedure of a digital IF system for the OFDM based WLAN system and examine its performances. Along with the decision procedure of ADC sample rate, NCO frequency and the required decimation ratio, we show the decimation ratio is accomplished through the use of a CIC filter and a MHBF. We also show that the amplitude distortion occurred in the decimation filters can effectively be compensated by a ISOP filter and an additional FIR filter, which leads to the reduction of the overall hardware complexity. Finally, we examine the BER performance of the proposed system and compare it with a theoretical one that excludes filter non-linearities.
