Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of PZT-polymer 3-3 type composite for ultrasonic transducer applications (초음파 트랜스듀서용 PZT-고분자 3-3형 복합압전체의 유전 및 압전특성)

  • PZT powders were prepared by the molten salt synthesis method. The porous PZT ceramics were made from a mixture of PZT and polyvinylalcohol(PVA) by BURPS(Bumout Plastic Sphere) technique. The 3-3 type composites were fabricated by impregnating an sintered porous PZT ceramics with various polymer matrices. The relative permittivity of 3-3 type composite specimens was shown 860-1,100 smaller than that of solid PZT ceramics(2,100), and the dissipation factors of composite specimens were about 0.02 to 0.03. The piezoelectric coefficient d$_{33}$ of composite specimens(285-328*10$^{12}$ C/N) was comparable with that of single phase PZT specimens(364*10$^{-12}$ C/N). The thickness mode coupling factor k$_{t}$(O.5-0.6) of composite specimens was comparable with that of single phase PZT specimens(k$_{t}$-0.7), and the mechanical quality factor of composite specimens was smaller than 10, and thus these 3-3 type composite specimens would be believed as a good candidates for broad band transducer applications.ons.

Improvement of the Biocompatibility of Chitosan Dermal Scaffold by Rigorous Dry Heat Treatment

  • We have developed a rigorous heat treatment method to improve the biocompatibility of chitosan as a tissue-engineered scaffold. The chitosan scaffold was prepared by the controlled freezing and lyophilizing method using dilute acetic acid and then it was heat-treated at 110$^{\circ}C$ in vacuo for 1-3 days. To explore changes in the physicochemical properties of the heat-treated scaffold, we analyzed the degree of deacetylation by colloid titration with poly(vinyl potassium sulfate) and the structural changes were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, wide-angle X-ray diffractometry (WAXD), and lysozyme susceptibility. The degree of deacetylation of chitosan scaffolds decreased significantly from 85 to 30% as the heat treatment time increased. FT-IR spectroscopic and WAXD data indicated the formation of amide bonds between the amino groups of chitosan and acetic acids carbonyl group, and of interchain hydrogen bonding between the carbonyl groups in the C-6 residues of chitosan and the N-acetyl groups. Our rigorous heat treatment method causes the scaffold to become more susceptible to lysozyme treatment. We performed further examinations of the changes in the biocompatibility of the chitosan scaffold after rigorous heat treatment by measuring the initial cell binding capacity and cell growth rate. Human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs) adhere and spread more effectively to the heat-treated chitosan than to the untreated sample. When the cell growth of the HDFs on the film or the scaffold was analyzed by an MTT assay, we found that rigorous heat treatment stimulated cell growth by 1.5∼1.95-fold relative to that of the untreated chitosan. We conclude that the rigorous dry heat treatment process increases the biocompatibility of the chitosan scaffold by decreasing the degree of deacetylation and by increasing cell attachment and growth.

  • The main obstacle to high track density in HDD is the structural resonances of the suspension. The most critical mode is sway mode and second torsion mode, when a data is read and written. It is common fact that the effect of two modes is smaller when a thickness is bulky. But the stiffness of suspension is smaller, the slider can follow a disk better. Because these two fact are reciprocal, a compromise is needed. So we investigated another method to improve band width without changing of the thickness of suspension but with changing of the shape. In this paper, we use two method - Sensitivity analysis and SIP using ADS. And we obtained the optimized value close to target value.

  • This paper presents a method which can select optimal nodes to reduce harmonics by using ANP. First, we measured harmonics for the real distribution system and Tried to Analyze It. Second, we designed filters to reduce harmonics. Third, we composed each clusters and calculated it to select optimal nodes based on ANP. We a lied it to the distribution system, and deduce most advantageous method in many technical and economical among harmonic decrease measures. We proved the adequacy and usefulness of the result.

  • In tis paper, w eproposed a modeling for direct-sequence spread communication base band modem in RT-level VHDL and implemented in a one-chip VLSI and tested. The transmitter modulates with DQPSK modulation method and spreads a modulated signal with 32-bit PN code into 1.152MHz. The receiver de-spreads a signal using 32-tap matched filter and recovers with DQPSK demodulation method. The digital frequency synthesizer generates the sine signal and the cosine signal of 2.304MHz with ROM tables in the size of 7$\^$*/256 and 6$\^$*/256, respectively. The implemented VLSI has been verified a BER with 10$\^$-4/ at E$\_$b//N$\_$o/ of 13dB with a SPW fixed design model and fabricated in the 0.8.mu.m KG6423 gate array with a VHDL model.

  • This paper presents a fault location algorithm using iterative method at unbalance condition for distribution feeder systems. Distribution feeders include single phase and three phase laterals. The proposed algorithm achieves a high accuracy by continuously updating voltage and current phasor using the phase components and admittance load model.

  • The standard power system model is needed to test a transmission line protective relay There are two methods to develop a power system model for transmission line protection. First method is based on characteristic power system model, and second method is based on functional power system model. This paper presents a standard power system model for performance test of transmission line protective relay, where the power system model is based on the two methods. And this model is simulated by using RTDS to test a protective relay.

  • In this paper, the inclined endmilling process with a 3-axis machining center using inclined jigs is introduced for the purpose of reducing overall Dies/Molds machining time and improving the machining accuracies. In order to analyze the cutting mechanism of a given endmill more accurately, the unification of the cutting mechanism model of 3-different- kind endmills is carried out by using a nose radius as a parameter. By adding radial runouts as a parameter which influences on surface roughness, the superposition method which defines the effective cusp height superposing the cutter mark height and the conventional cusp height is advanced. And 3-D suface topography predicted in this paper looks like the surface normally observed in practice. Through machining experiments, the adequacy of the superposition method was confirmed.

$MgB_2$ Thin Films on SiC Buffer Layers with Enhanced Critical Current Density at High Magnetic Fields

  • We have grown $MgB_2$ superconducting thin films on the SiC buffer layers by means of hybrid physical-chemical vapor deposition (HPCVD) technique. Prior to that, SiC was first deposited on $Al_2O_3$ substrates at various temperatures from room temperature to $600^{\circ}C$ by using the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method in a vacuum atmosphere of ${\sim}10^{-6}$ Torr pressure. All samples showed a high transition temperature of ~40 K. The grain boundaries of $MgB_2$ samples with SiC layer are greater in amount, compare to that of the pure $MgB_2$ samples. $MgB_2$ with SiC buffer layer samples show interesting change in the critical current density ($J_c$) values. Generally, at both 5 K and 20 K measurements, at lower magnetic field, all $MgB_2$ films deposited on SiC buffer layers have low $J_c$ values, but when they reach higher magnetic fields of nearly 3.5 Tesla, $J_c$ values are enhanced. $MgB_2$ film with SiC grown at $600^{\circ}C$ has the highest $J_c$ enhancement at higher magnetic fields, while all SiC buffer layer samples exhibit higher $J_c$ values than that of the pure $MgB_2$ films. A change in the grain boundary morphologies of $MgB_2$ films due to SiC buffer layer seems to be responsible for $J_c$ enhancements at high magnetic fields.

Computational Investigation of Isomeric and Conformeric Structures of Methyl Fluoroperoxide and Fluoromethyl Fluoroperoxides (Methyl fluoroperoxide와 fuoromethyl fluoroperoxides의 conformers와 isomers 구조에 대한 이론연구)

  • The ab initio calculations for fluoromethyl fluoroperoxides have been carried out using MP2/6-311G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) method. The structural optimizations were performed for several isomers and conformers of methyl fluoroperoxide, $CH_3OOF$ and the vibrational frequencies were calculated. The most stable conformer of $CH_3OOF$ is skew form and has fairly short O-O bond distance. The trans and cis conformers have 8-12 kcal/mol higher energies than skew form and the other isomers are very unstable. The structures of $CH_2FOOF$, $CHF_2OOF$ and $CF_3OOF$ are also optimized and vibrational frequencies were calculated. These molecules also have skew forms as the lowest energy conformers. The O-O bond distances are longer and C-O bond distances are shorter than $CH_3OOF$, but the structural parameters are almost independent of the number of fluorine atoms in methyl group.
