This study investigates the application of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) anodization techniques on stainless steel 304L (SS304L) in an ethylene glycol and ammonium fluoride (NH4F) electrolyte solution to produce a nano-porous oxide layer. With limited research on AC anodizing of stainless steel, this study focuses on comparing AC and DC anodization in terms of current density versus time response, phase analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and corrosion rate determined by linear polarization. Both AC and DC anodization were performed for 60 minutes at 50 V in an electrolyte solution containing 0.5% NH4F and 3% H2O in ethylene glycol. The results show that AC anodization exhibited higher current density compared to DC anodization. XRD analysis revealed the presence of ferrite (α-Fe) and austenite (γ-Fe) phases in the as-received specimen, while both AC and DC anodized specimens exhibited only the γ-Fe phase. The corrosion rate of the AC-anodized specimen was measured at 0.00083 mm/year, lower than the corrosion rate of the DC-anodized specimen at 0.00197 mm/year. These findings indicate that AC anodization on stainless steel offers advantages in terms of higher current density, phase transformation, and lower corrosion rate compared to DC anodization. These results highlight the need for further investigation and exploration of AC anodization as a promising technique for enhancing the electrochemical properties of stainless steel.
The optimal application rate of a controlled release fertilizer (CRF) on the growth, yield, and seeding time of rice grown on seedling trays was investigated. The experimental field was located at $37^{\circ}22^{\prime}10^{{\prime}{\prime}}N$ latitude and $127^{\circ}03^{\prime}85^{{\prime}{\prime}}E$ longitude in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. The soil in the paddy field was a clay loam. The CRF used in the experiment contained $300g\;kg^{-1}$ of nitrogen, $60g\;kg^{-1}$ of phosphate, and $60g\;kg^{-1}$ of potassium, respectively. The CRF was applied at the rate of 0, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 600 grams on rice seedling tray compared with the field application based on soil testing (control), respectively. The CRF can be applied as single application(which can replace basal fertilizer application and two top dressing application) directly to the seedling tray, and showed the minimum release at the seedling period. Considering the plant growth, nitrogen use efficency and yield of rice, the optimal application rate of developed CRF was 500 g per seedling tray and the yield of rice at this application rate was $4.92{\sim}5.04Mg\;ha^{-1}$. The regression formula between the rice yield and application rates of CRF was as follows ; "$Y=0.0002{\chi}^2+0.0963{\chi}+411.6$($R^2$ : 0.9922) in 2010 and $Y=8E-6{\chi}^2+0.2723{\chi}+344.04$($R^2$:0.9864) in 2011, Y : Rice yield ($Mg\;ha^{-1}$), ${\chi}$ : Application rate (grams) of controlled release fertilizer". The optimum application rates of CRF per rice seedling tray by regression formula was 498 grams in 2010 and 513 grams in 2011.

This experiment was conducted to compare the frech and dry matter yields and feed values of Sorghum$\times$Sudangrsss Hybrid in accordance with different nitrogen and potassium fertilizer sources at the Dae-Ho reclaimed tidal land, Korea from 2003 to 2004. Soil salt contents of ammonium sulfate plots(T3, T4, T5) were higher than that of the urea plot(T2), but that of potassium sulfate plot(T6) was the lowest. The fresh yields of ammonium sulfate plots(T3, T4, T5) and potassium sulfate plot(T6) were higher than that of the urea plot(T2) as $173\%,\;173\%,\;144\%\;and\;90\%$. respectively. The dry matter and total digestible nutrient(TBN) yields were similar tendency like the results of the fresh matter yields. The crude protein(CP), neutral detergent fiber(NDF) and acid detergent fiber(ADF) contents of ammonium sulfate plots(T3, T4, T5) were higher than those of urea plot(T2), but those of potassium sulfate plot(T6) were the lowest. On the other hand, TDN content in potassium sulfate plot(T6) was the highest. It was desirable to use ammonium sulfate$(20\~30kg\;N/10a)$ and potassium sulfate fertilizer$(15kg\;K_2O/10a)$ than those of urea and potassium chloride fertilizer on reclaimed tidal land in view of forage production and its feed value.
Purpose: This study compared shear bond strengths of five self-adhesive cements with phosphate monomer to zirconium oxide ceramic with and without airborn particle abrasion. Materials and methods: One hundred zirconia samples were air-abraded ($50{\mu}mAl_2O_3$). One hundred composite resin cylinders were fabricated. Composite cylinders were bonded to the zirconia samples with either Permacem 2.0 (P), $Clearfil^{TM}$ SA Luting (C), $Multilink^{(R)}$ Speed (M), $RelyX^{TM}$ U200 Automix (R), G-Cem $LinkAce^{TM}$ (G). All bonded specimens were stored in distilled water ($37^{\circ}C$) for 24 h and half of them were additionally aged by thermocycling ($5^{\circ}C$, $55^{\circ}C$, 5,000 times). The bonded specimens were loaded in shear force until fracture (1 mm/min) by using Universal Testing Machine (Model 4201, Instron Co, Canton, MA, USA). The failure sites were inspected under field-emission scanning electron microscopy. The data was analyzed with ANOVA, Tukey HSD post-hoc test and paired samples t-test ($\alpha$=.05). Results: Before and after thermocycling, $Multilink^{(R)}$ Speed (M) revealed higher shear-bond strength than the other cements. G-Cem $LinkAce^{TM}$ (G) showed significantly lower bond strengths after thermocycling than before treatment (P<.05), but the other groups were not significantly different (P>.05). Conclusion: Most self-adhesive cements with phosphate monomer showed high shear bond strength with zirconia ceramic and weren't influenced by thermocycling, so they seem to valuable to zirconia ceramic bonding.

Effect of microwave radiation on physico-chemical properties of cor'n starches was studied. Waxy com, com and high amylose com starches of varying moisture content(20~35%) were subjected to microwave processing(2450MHz) at $120^{\circ}$ and the experimental starch samples were examined by a X-ray diffractometry, rapid viscosity analyzer(RVA) and. with the samples in temperature was observed and the peaks of high amylose com starches at $2^{\circ}$=5.0, 15.0 and $23.0^{\circ}$, were disappeared indicating the melting of crystallines while those of com and waxy com had not changed. A change in gelatinization pattern was observed in the case of corn starches from type A with nearly no peak-viscosity and breakdown to type C. Except a decreased viscosity, no change was observed in those of waxy com starches.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mechanism of improving acid resistance of Nd-YAG laser irradiated tooth enamel and determine the most effective energy density for improving acid resistance. The bovine tooth enamel were lased with a pulsed Nd-YAG laser. The energy densities of exposed laser beam were varied from 10 to $70\;J/cm^2$. To investigate the degree of improving acid resistance by irradiation, all the samples were submerged to demineralize in 0.5 N $HClO_4$ solution for 1 minute. After 1 minute, 0.05 % $LaCl_3$ was added to the solution for interrupting the demineralization reaction. The amounts of dissolved calcium and phosphate in the solution were measured by using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer and the UV/VIS spectrophotometer, respectively. To examine the mechanism of improving acid resistance, X-ray diffraction analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy were taken. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the samples were obtained in the $10^{\circ}{\sim}80^{\circ}2{\theta}$ range with $Cu-K{\alpha}$ radiation using M18HF(Mac Science Co.) with X-ray diffractometer operating at 40 KV and 300 mA. The infra-red spectra of the ground samples in 300 mg KBr pellets 10 mm diameter were obtained in the $4000cm^{-1}\;to\;400cm^{-1}$ range using JASCO 300E spectrophotometer. The scanning electron microscopy was carried out using JSM6400(JEOL Co.) with $500{\sim}2000$ times magnification. The results were as follow 1. The concentration of calcium dissolved from laser irradiated enamel with $50J/cm^2$ was significantly lesser than that of unlased control group (p<0.05) 2. From the result of the X-ray diffraction analysis, $\beta$-TCP, which increases acid solubility, was identified in lased enamel but the diffraction peaks of (002) and (004) became sharp with increasing energy density of laser irradiation. This means that the crystals in lased samples were grown through the c-axis and subsequently, the acid solubility of enamel decreased. 3. The a-axis parameter was slightly increased by laser irradiation, whereas the c-axis parameter was almost constant except for a little decrease at $50J/cm^2$. 4. In the infra-red spectra of lased enamels, phosphate bands ($600{\sim}500cm^{-1}$), B-carbonate bands (870, $1415{\sim}1455cm^{-1}$), and A-carbonate band ($1545cm^{-1}$) were observed. The amounts of phosphate bands and the B-carbonate bands were reduced, on the other hand, the amount of the A-carbonate band was increased by increase the energy density. 5. The SEM experiments reveal that the surface melting and recrystallization were appeared at $30J/cm^2$ and the cracks were observed at $70J/cm^2$. From above results, It may be suggested that the most effective energy density for improving acid resistance of tooth enamel with the irradiation of Nd-YAG laser was $50J/cm^2$. The mechanism of improving acid resistance were reduction of permeability due to surface melting and recrystallization of lased enamel and reduction of acid solubility of enamel due to decrease of carbonate content and growth of crystal.
Chrysotile is well known as a fibrous mineral in serpentinite by the previous studies in S. Korea. Previous studies in other countries showed that antigorite also occurred as asbestiform and harmful to humans. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate types and characteristics of fibrous serpentine minerals occurred in serpentinite in Hongseong, Chungnam and Gapyeong, Gyeonggi in S. Korea. XRD, SEM-EDS, PLM and EPMA mapping analyses were used to examine the occurrence and formation mechanism of serpentine minerals. Serpentinization partially occurred in amphibole-schist and calc-schist at two study sites, Hongseong, Chungnam and Gapyeong, Gyeonggi, respectively. Both chrysotile and antigorite occurred as a fibrous mineral at Hongseong site, but chrysotile occurred as a fibrous mineral at Gapyeong site. Based on PLM analysis with dispersion staining, the chrysotile was observed horizontally magenta and vertically blue colors. The antigorite appeared as horizontally gold to golden magenta and vertically blue magenta colors under central stop dispersion staining objective(DSO). PLM and SEM analyses showed the fibrous minerals were formed from plate form of serpentine minerals or by hydrothermal alternation of primary minerals. The EPMA mapping showed that Mg contents in chrysotile is relatively higher than that in antigorite while Si and O contents in antigorite is higher than them in chrysotile. However, more studies are necessary to know the exact variation in chemical composition of chrysotile and antigorite. These results indicate that even though asbestiform antigorite found associated with asbestos chrysotile in serpentinites, the fibrous antigorite can be distinguished from chrysotile by different dispersion staining colors.

The effects of $MgB_4$ addition on the superconducting properties and the microstructure of in situ processed $MgB_2$ bulk superconductors were studied. $MgB_4$ powder of 1-20 wt.% was mixed with (Mg + 2B) powder and then pressed into pellets. The pellets of (Mg + 2B + $xMgB_4$) were heat-treated at $650^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in flowing argon. The powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis for the heat-treated samples showed that the major formed phase in all samples was $MgB_2$ and the minor phases were $MgB_4$ and MgO. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) values showed that the grain size of $MgB_2$ decreased as the amount of $MgB_4$ addition increased. $MgB_4$ particles included in a $MgB_2$ matrix is considered to suppress the grain growth of $MgB_2$. The onset temperatures ($T_{c,onset}$) of $MgB_2$ with $MgB_4$ addition (0-10 wt.%) was between 37-38 K. The 20 wt.% $MgB_4$ addition slightly reduced the $T_{c,onset}$ of $MgB_2$ to 36.5 K. This result indicates that $MgB_4$ addition did not influence the superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) of $MgB_2$ significantly. On the other hand, the small additions of 1-5 wt.% $MgB_4$ increased the critical current density ($J_c$) of $MgB_2$. The $J_c$ enhancement by $MgB_4$ addition is attributed not only to the grain size refinement but also to the possible flux pinning of $MgB_4$ particles dispersed in a $MgB_2$ matrix.
The effect of Mg supplement on the composting of swine manure and the formation of $MgNH_4PO_46H_2O$ (MAP) crystal during composting were examined. Mg source was added at a rate of 1.2 molar ratios to soluble phosphate ($PO_4$) level in swine manure. The temperature profiles and final compost qualities revealed that the Mg source addition didn't retard the decomposition of organic matters. As the added Mg reacted with $NH_4$ and $PO_4$ in manure, creating MAP crystal, the $NH_4$ level was reduced, and this was resulted in low nitrogen lose during the composting. The phosphate level was also decreased with the addition of Mg source, and hence the ratio of orthophosphate to total phosphate (OP/TP) in the final compost was lowered. Therefore, it was assured that supplement of Mg source into the composting materials could enhance the quality of compost by preserving nourishment and converting it into a slowly releasing fertilizer. X-Ray diffraction examination of the final compost showed that a distinct MAP crystal was formed during the composting, and the crystal mainly existed with the compost particle size less than 2.8 mm and over 2/3 of nourishment of the final compost was found in those particles.
Abstract In the cipher system using the synchronous stream cipher system, encryption / decryption cause the synchronization loss (of key arrangement) by cycle slip, then it makes incorrect decrypted data. To lessen the risk, we have used a periodic synchronous cipher system which achieve synchronization at fixed timesteps by inserting synchronization signal and session key. In this paper, we solved the problem(fault) like the transfer efficiency drops by a periodic synchronous method, the periodic generations of different session key, and the incorrectness increases by continuing synchronization loss in next time step. They are achieved by the transfer of a non-periodic synchronous signal which carries synchronous signal and session key when it is less than the threshold value, analyzing the address field of point-to-point protocol, using the receiving rate of address bits information and flag patterns in the decision duration, in providing data services by CDMA mobile network. When the proposed algorithm is applied to the synchronous stream cipher system using point-to-point protocol, which is used data link level in CDMA mobile network, it has advanced the result in Rerror and Derror and in transmission rate, by the use of 3.84$\times$105bits, not 6.45$\times$107bits required in periodic synchronous method, having lsec time step, in slip rate 10-7.
