  • In the training field where literature is used as a tool, some excerpts from its text are used, instead of its full text. Therefore, it is necessary to have empirical guidelines for which part of the text should be used as Memory-Hint, a part that reminds its reader of certain memory, and for how the text can be introduced effectively. For the study, Hesse's whole life and his literary characters were examined from a therapeutic perspective. First, while Hesse's life was reviewed and his characters were analyzed, Hesse was recognized for Self-therapeutic Life. He also lived a life of multimedia in which he practiced writing, painting, playing musical instruments, meditation, walking, etc. Second, Contents of Literature Therapy using Hesse's works were applied to the schizophrenic patients. Media used for the clinical study were mostly extracted from Hesse's works. • The purpose of this study was to examine the text and musical characteristic of , a changgeuk (a Korean traditional opera), by the National Theater of Korea, which was performed overseas with the title of and recognized its artistic values home and abroad alike, focusing on the process of its rebirth from a lost pansori. A changgeuk was dramatized from a lost pansori into a Korean traditional opera. In the process of rebirth of , the content of latter half, which is the performance of a funeral service for the deceased Byeongangsoe, was deleted, and the contents of Ongnyeo's fight against jangseungs in order to take back Byeongangsoe was newly inserted, thus creating textual changes. In addition, as the title presents, Ongnyeo is no longer a conventional lewd woman, but a subjective and independent female who is fighting against fate, different from its original perspective in which the leading character is Byeongangsoe. All the sounds of a changgeuk were made by the creative technique of traditional Korean songs through various attempts, such as inserting chords between performers in order to present most appropriate songs for the opera, namely proper sounds for the hidden side of the opera. In addition, according to the change of mind of performers or characters, the tone and vocal sound of the song were different. In particular, a changgeuk attempted a variety of techniques in the accompaniment of music, and used many sound buks or diverse genres such as popular music, waltz, classic and folk songs of every province, thus presenting challenging attempts. These attempts made the opera more abundant and helped it to be expressed realistically and dramatically. As above, the contents of a changgeuk were borrowed from classical narrations, but its musical aspects got off the technique of traditional changgeuk, thus attempting various changes and techniques. In this vein, it presented a novel modality of changgeuk equiping with the characteristic of 'reviewing the old and learning the new,' thus proposing the directivity and possibility of changgeuk in the present society.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the meaning of extended application of workers' compensation for artists. This study explains by giving specific two examples. The first case is about broadcasting extra who is permitted to receive compensation from Korea Workers' Compensation & Welfare Service without filing a suit. Whereas, The second case is about musical stage crew who is not permitted to obtain compensation for accident during work. The reason why he could not receive compensation is not because he is regarded as worker, but because he is regarded as individual businessman. Extended application of workers' compensation for artists could be a double-edged sword for workers through two cases. Firstly, Broadcasting extras could become much easier to receive workers' compensation according to precedent. Secondly, It is more difficult to get the workers' compensation by the reason of not applying for workers' compensation admission like the second case, even though the second case of forms of employment is similar to that of the first. In other words, New compensation development could generate another obstacles to enter compensation systems. Extended application of workers' compensation should be operated with covering artists' compensation case by case.

According to the result, local visitors' satisfaction level were higher than other domestic visitors. Visitors showed higher interest in the music instruments like a 'Gayageum' they are able to relate to, rather than with other traditional unfamiliar musical instruments. It is thus crucial to encourage students and ordinary citizens to interact with traditional music instruments so as to enhance the satisfaction levels of domestic visitors. Some practical implications for traditional music organizers are that it is recommendable to have more guides who have thorough knowledge of traditional Korean music and who is able to interpret festival programs in foreign languages for foreign visitors.

  • In this study, the relationship of images and sounds of the animations "Dots" and "Loops" which Norman McLaren animated with his Animated sound technique when he worked at Guggenheim museum at New York, are analyzed through the audiovisual analysis theory by Michel Chion, and through the theory of synchronism/asynchronism and parallelism/counterpoint by Siegfried Kracauer. For the results of the analysis, there are a few difference between "Dots" and "Loops" regarding the aspect of sound arrangement and expressive aspect of abstract animation. However, there are being of two main elements of sound, composing with monophony sound, making musical structure with sound effects, and the emphasizing of parallelism with synchronization bewteen images and sounds in common with both "Dots" and "Loops". In "Dots" and "Loops", there are close correlations between pitch of sound and arrangement/shape of image, between loudness of sound and size of image, and between length of sound and length/shape of image. The image and sound of "Dots" and "Loops" have equal relationship each other, rather than subordinate relationship according as image become sound and the sound become new image with the animated sound technique. "Dots" and "Loops" show tendency of minimal art and music video. Since these two films, and remind about the new approach to sound creation in today's animation production.
