This study was to examine the educational satisfaction of students majoring in music education and provided suggestions to the college of education, Korea. First of all, 152 students majoring in music education in university, Korea, were surveyed. Second, the SPSS 22 for Windows program was used to conduct technical statistical analysis: independent sample t-test, one-way variance analysis, and cross-analysis. The result was that there were significant differences in the educational satisfaction, depending on the gender, school year, career-hopping professions, and individual efforts of students. College of Education has a huge impact on society as an institution that trains pre-service teachers who will teach future students. Therefore, based on the results of the study, I hope that the college of education will serve as fundamental institutes for the training of pre-service teachers.
This study was to investigate the influence of using Therapeutic Instrumental Music Performance (TIMP) in uninvolved hand function for children with spastic cerebral palsy. Participants were recruited from a welfare center for people with cerebral palsy(CP). Ages ranged from 11 to 12, and a total of 15 TIMP sessions were provided for 3 weeks. Hand function tests were used including Jebsen Hand Function Test for hand function, Box and Block Test for dexterity of uninvolved hand, and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) evaluation for velocity of fingers. The TIMP program consisted of hand percussion playing and keyboard playing with changes of timbre and tempo. While the scores of Jebsen test and Box and Block test were improved for all participants, outcomes of MIDI analysis showed differences among participants. Overall, hand function improvements were observed after the completion of using the TIMP program, and the results implies that the TIMP program can be applied in upper extremity rehabilitation for children with CP.
Vocal and instrument apprenticeship in applied music has been accepted without significant changes since the introduction of applied music education to South Korea. Few discussions or suggestions about other types of teaching than 'one-to-one lessons' or 'education of apprentices by assigned specialists' have been made. Since the introduction of applied music education to South Korea late in the 1980s, the CAI(Computer Aided Instruction) courseware development for applied music education has not actively been under way. The area of applied music has also made rapid progress in terms of music producing or music videos using computers. Actually, the improved computer program is not positively applied to applied music education. This study aimed to present learning methods using the improved functions of music production softwares to improve the traditional apprenticeship system in the area of vocal training in applied music. In particular, it used the technique of auto tune-pitch shift developed for interval correction in sound sources. By giving real-time feedbacks concerning intervals or monitors visually after recording, it intended to present a learning method to induce improvement in accuracy of intervals in vocal training. This study is expected to present a method that allows vocal trainers to overcome temporal and spatial limitations in applied music and make their vocal training more efficient.
In this study, the authors developed and implemented an online music-based support program to prevent burnout among university hospital nurses. This study involved 40 nurses from three university hospitals who shared their subjective experiences after participating in 8 music-based non-simultaneous online sessions. The responses were collected as qualitative data and analyzed using the qualitative content analysis method. The analysis identified 66 meaning units, 10 themes, and 3 categories, which included: 'Recovery of physical and psychological stability', 'Self-care and acceptance', and 'Rediscovery of pride and meaning as a nurse'. This study is significant for exploring the experiences of university hospital nurses who participated in a remotely implemented music-based psycho-emotional support program, with respect to burnout prevention. For future directions, we suggest a more in-depth exploration of specific burnout factors and an expansion of research through the diversification of research methods to refine programs aimed at alleviating nurse burnout.
Music has a vital meaning in peoples' lives, mostly as a communication medium for thoughts and feelings. Because music is nonthreatening and nonjudgmental, its viability works for everyone. The purpose of this research is firstly to compare the effectiveness of existing social rehabilitation program and music integrated social rehabilitation program for people with mental retardation. Secondly, the study purported to find out if the music integrated social rehabilitation program was effective, then how various musical activities can assist communication and expression, and further assist social interactions among the people with mental retardation. The data were collected using Emotions Assessment Tool, Social Skills Assessment, and Skills development in Music were used. Also, verbal contents, voices, gestures, nonverbal expressions were observed and analyzed. As the result, it is shown that the music integrated social rehabilitation program has enhanced communicative and expressive skills of adults with mental retardation, and further improved social interactive skills. This implies that music had positive effects to the mental patients on their social relationship activities, than the program without music integration. The results support previous findings that music can be an effective communicative and expression tool.
The purpose of this study was to develop and validate an imagery-focused music listening program for improving emotion regulation among infertile women. For the program development in this study, the literature on emotional issues and coping strategy of infertile women was analyzed to establish theoretical foundation; and the literature on Supportive Music and Imagery (SMI) was analyzed to identify intervention components. Based on the established theoretical framework, the program was developed and finalized after evaluation of validity by four SMI professionals. The developed program was found to systematically target changes in emotions in the step-wise process of discovery, reinforcement, and affirmation of positive emotional resources. The list of music for future use was also identified and presented after systematic analysis of musical features in relation to valence and arousal of emotions. The imagery-focused music listening program was an initial approach to infertile women with SMI, which indicates the possibility of extended application for broadened clinical population.

It has been passed more than 50 years of the history of music therapy on school aged children since there had been enforced the 'Education for All Handicapped Children Ace' in United states 1975, which had made an important role of music therapist augmented. In the case of South Korea, through reforming the law on March 2005 that therapist educator has to be allocated on the special class in general school, at least, patrol teacher is charged on that, which made possible to start music therapy as initial stage was realized in realistic way on the spot of school. And the other thing is intended that making a investigation of actual condition on the spot of existing school, moreover, pinpointing at issue and suggesting the change for the better than now. In order to undertake theses intentions, I examined preceding researches and existing data, distributed the questionnaire involved the music therapy of elementary school to the people who are composed of special educators-65 persons and music therapists-30 persons from 18th October to second of November, and analyzed collected by descriptive statistics. According to the analyzed results, it says that special educator and music therapist know well about the necessity of music therapy in elementary school and its effectiveness is manifested in positive way. Moreover, in order to systemize and promote a program of music therapy, what is most urgent thing is the completion of instrument and music therapy room and there are needed strong supports at the level of nation and institution. It has become pervasive on the demand of therapy education by parents in all of the places involved with disabled children such as special school, special class, local welfare community, and early education. This research shows that how therapy and education was connected as music therapy on the spot of the elementary school, and the necessity of the education of music therapy.
