Analysis of Residual Fatty acid of the material for Reinforcement used on Edges of Lacquer ware inlaid box with Mother-of-pearl in Chŏson Dynasty (나전칠기함(螺鈿漆器函) 모서리 보강재료(補强材料)의 잔존지방산(殘存脂肪酸) 분석(分析))

  • Residual fatty acid of the basic material[Backgol] for reinforcement used on the edges of the lacquer ware inlaid box of Chosŏn Dynasty was analyzed. The result showed that it contained considerable amount of cholesterol. So it was confirmed to be animal material. Gas chromatography showed that its fatty acid composition is similar to that of sharkskin. On the basis of this analysis results, the damaged area of the object was restored by using sharkskin as a material for reinforcement.

  • This study intends to analyze the various spatial structures of the Seoul city museum with reference to the layouts and the qualitative mode of exhibition items. Understanding the way of actual exhibition design can be a clue to understand the contents of exhibition story which guarantees to make the pertinent space and visitors route organization between different levels of architectural space and exhibition space. The basic methodological ideas of this study are as follows; 1) Systematic analysis about the characteristics of exhibits, historic context, and hierachy of each thematic zone. 2) Analysis of physical combination of object spatial cell in the view of visitors circulatiov.   • The object of this study is to improve obstacles related with physical affordance and cognitive affordance by adopting Norman's theory for affordance of mobile application of museum education. As to conduct the study, I have selected the mobile device application of G museum for the need of observation and interviewing, and have applied think aloud protocol to analyse matters of affordance. By this study, learners will be possible to conduct appropriate behavior instantly under the circumstance of unfamiliar museum mobile environment because of sophisticated design to make learners perceive and understand information provided with designed interface based on realistic improvement that will be made by inspecting possible problems of affordance in position of museum education mobile system users. Additionally learners will be able to control contents of museum and to experience interactive learning which motivate exploratory activity to accomplish meaningful learning.

  • We conducted preservation treatment for 25 pieces of coins of Goryeo era in collection of the National Museum of Korea. Object coins are 5 kinds of 'Donggukjungbo', 'Dongguktongbo', 'Haedongtongbo', 'Haedongjungbo', 'Samhanjungbo'. As it is worried that if all chlorides able to make bad influence on reclics are removed, letter and chape of coin can be damaged, they were removed partially. To date, inscribed letter form of Dongguktongbo is known as more than 6 types, and as a result of interpreting X-ray photos, 3 types of inscribed letters were identified by this study. Bronze rust acquired in the process of removing rust on coins, origin of materials for coin was assumed through lead isotope ratio analysis. Latest tendency is that diverse scientific analyses are conducted based on bronze rust.

  • Conservation treatment was done for the pottery-stand of Kaya period which was to be exhibited in celebration of the opening of Kimhae National Museum and for the jar of Chinese celadon which was to be exhibited in Korea National Museum's special exhibition "Formation of Ancient States". Through the examinations by naked eyes and under the microscope, condition before treatment, patterns and manufacturing techniques of the objects were observed. According to these examinations, conservation treatments, suitable for each object was finished. As the pottery-stand was damaged severely, the epoxy resin was pasted directly on the broken surface of the pottery to restore the original shape and pattern, color and feeling similar to original state were given to the restored area. Although same restoration material was applied on the celadon, it was not pasted directly on the broken surface of the celadon so that the restored area could be dismantled, and color and feeling were also treated somewhat differently.

  • As artificial intelligence develops, AI chatbot systems are actively taking place. For example, in public institutions, the use of chatbots is expanding to work assistance and professional knowledge services in civil complaints and administration, and private companies are using chatbots for interactive customer response services. In this study, we propose a scenario-based AI voice chatbot system to reduce museum operating costs and provide interactive guidance services to visitors. The implemented voice chatbot system consists of a watcher object that detects the user's voice by monitoring a specific directory in real-time, and an event handler object that outputs AI's response voice by performing inference by model sequentially when a voice file is created. And Including a function to prevent duplication using thread and a deque, GPU operations are not duplicated during inference in a single GPU environment.

  • During the boom of museum building in the 1970s-80s two museum wee erected in Germany. They are James Stirling's Neue Stattsgalerie Stuttgart and hans Hollein's Stadtisches Museum Abteiberg Monchengladbach, These two museums share the folowing point of similarity : Stirling's Neue Stattsgalerie Stuttgart and Hollein's Staditisches Museum Abetiberg Monchenbladbach both manifest the conditions of the times in light of their respective cities' local characters and historical contexts without being bound to traditional formality. Stirling and Hollein attempted to grasp the meaning of the 기nuseum as a city in miniature." Taking into account the t two museums’s territorial characteristics of being situated on a slope, both Stirling and Hollein made the walker to pass t through their building complex and introduced the concept of a public square within them. As a result, the museums are not j just two large buildings but are architecture composed of a collage of various structures. S Stirling’s architecture employs the method of attaching additional elements on top of basic constituents, which is suggestive '||'&'||'#61551; of the historical fragment from Shinkel's Altes Museum. On the other hand, Hollein applies a collage-style method as if he w were doing urban planning, maintaining the distinctiveness of each of the various forms and materials of buildings. T The object style buildings of the two museums actively demonstrate the contrast of double meaning to represent the a ambiguous and multifarious characteristics of the modern times. Stirling explores the theme of opposition and coexistence in h his Neue Stattsgalerie Stuttgart by placing a series of opposing concepts, such as the past and present and histor${\gamma}$ and t technology, in one space. Thereby, the contradiction and its appeal are manifested. Hollein made use of the visual illusion and c contradiction in alluding to the irony of the modern reality induced by nature and culture and history and technology. F For the above reasons and methods, James Stirling ’ s Neue Stattsgalerie Stuttgart allowed the penetration of art into daily l life and became the general public’s favored museum for its free and unrestrained environment. Likewise, Hans Hollein’s S Stadtisches Museum Abteiberg Moncbengladbach contribute to the development of museum function as it an expression of art i in the form of a complex piece of scupture on its own.ts own.

Korean Dress Collection of the Horniman Museum in London (런던 호니만 박물관 소장 한복 유물에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigates the formative features and the historical meaning of the Korean dress collection held in the Horniman Museum in London. The Museum holds eighteen items of Korean dresses donated by Mrs. C. de J. Luxmore in 1948 and by Mrs. Bowra in 1953. Male dresses consist of white silk outer robe (durumagi), a pale violet silk waistcoat (jokki), a jade green silk jacket (jeogori), pale yellow silk trousers (baji), a pair of ankle bands (daenim), a cotton waistband (dae), a silk purse (jumeoni), a rattan under-vest (deungbaeja), a pair of rattan wristlets (deungtosi), a top hat (gat) and a skullcap (tanggeon). Female dresses comprise a jade green silk jacket (jeogori), an ivory silk skirt (chima), a light blue silk petticoat (sokchima), two kinds of white cotton trousers (sokbaji and soksokgot), a pair of silk wristlets (tosi) and a pair of padded socks (beoseon). A Korean dress collection of the Horniman Museum shows a set of ordinary dress items worn by a married couple in the 1930s and the 1940s. Of these items, a silk petticoat (sokchima) and a rattan under-vest (deungbaeja) can be highly evaluated as object resources in the history of Korean dress. The petticoat is a rare and valuable example that represents an early type of modern petticoat that has replaced a traditional petticoat (dansokgot). The rattan under-vest has square neckline and two tiny sleeves similar to a Western cap sleeve. This kind of under-vest is a transitional form shown between under-vest similar to the Korean waistcoat (baeja) and one similar to the Western waistcoat (jokki).

  • Conservation treatments were done for the gilt bronze saddle accessory excavated from Tomb No. 89 in Kyo-dong, Changnyong in Japanese rule period. The saddle accessory, broken into numerous pieces, was mixed with other remains. Principal aims of conservation treatments were to recover original shape of object and stabilize its material. In the process of treatments manufacturing technique of the remain was examined minutely. Thick layers of corrosion substances were peeled off and numerous pieces were pasted together to restore the original shape. And then the saddle accessory was mounted on an acrylic board to be handled and exhibited safely. In this process, it was confirmed that various ancient techniques of metalic crafts such as amalgam gilding, riveting, piercing, line engraving, stamping, chasing etc. had been used to make the saddle accessory.
