  • One of the methods being suggested as a way to address social issues is the utilization of big data analysis techniques. In this study, we utilized keyword network analysis and CONCOR analysis techniques to analyze the research trends on work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, the number of papers on work-related musculoskeletal disorders has been consistently increasing, with an average of over 33 articles published per year since the investigation of musculoskeletal risk factors in 2003. The publication rate showed an increase from 2007 to 2009. Secondly, the frequency of the top keywords identified through text mining were as follows: work (4,940), musculoskeletal disorders (2,197), symptoms (1,836), related (1,769), musculoskeletal system (1,421). Thirdly, the CONCOR analysis resulted in the formation of four clusters: ' Musculoskeletal disorder treatment', 'Occupational health and safety management', 'Work environment assessment', and ' Workplace environment measurement'. It is expected that this study will contribute to the development of research on musculoskeletal disorders and provide various directions for future studies.

  • The package loading process of tile lumbering industry is an operation that after a pair of workers binds three or six lumber into a unit and cut the both ends of the lumber, carry and pack and load the weight cargo of 30-50kg. The package loading process causes lots of noise and wood dust when the lumber are cut and brings about the main cause of the musculoskeletal disorder when workers carry the heavy goods. Therefore, we developed the monolithic package loading equipment cutting both ends that is enable to improve the working method and environments of the existing package loading process. The noise and wood dust were reduced by developing the device and the main cause of shirking duties on working place was solved by preventing the musculoskeletal disorder and improving the working environments as excluding the work of carrying heavy goods.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the ground reaction forces and plantar pressure variables among three different safety shoes (Type 1: ergonomically designed and high quality shoes, 2: curved and cushioned safety hoes, and 3: regular safety shoes) and to find the effect of insole during walking. Ten healthy subjects were recruited for this study. The ground reaction force was measured using a 3 dimensional motion analysis system. Plantar pressures were measured Pedar Mobile foot pressure scan system. The ground reaction force variables were not significantly different among three different shoe types and insole conditions. After insertion insole, plantar pressure distributions were improved. These results suggest that the type 1 safety shoes was superior than other safety shoes in the statistics, and applying insole could be a possible method to prevent fatigue of lower extremity and musculoskeletal disorders. Further studies are needed to find the effect of ergonomically designed safety shoes design and insole on practical value prevention of musculoskeletal disorder, fatigue and satisfaction of workers.

  • Advancement toward aging society has presented the importance of house planning in consideration of the elderly, increasing the necessity of such planning. Therefore the importance of indoor design guideline for elderly houses has been stressed and the understanding of the aging in regard to this trend will create more mature spaces. In line with this trend the purpose of this study is to study the medical factors related with bathroom interior design guidelines of the existing elderly houses from the viewpoint of deteriorating physical functions due to aging process. In order to research the deterioration of physical functions due to aging literatures of medical and exercise physiology were used and concerning the existing bathroom design guidelines for the aged people, the guideline items of behavior facilitation, physiological maintenance and perceptual maintenance aspects out of Murtha & Lee's user benefit criteria(1976) related with physical functions were selected to research in relation with the knowledge about the deterioration phenomena of physical functions. Physical aging and deterioration aspects were classified from the viewpoint of musculoskeletal disorder, cardiovascular disorder, respiratory disorder, gastronomy disorder, urology disorder, somatosensory disorder, endocrine disorder, immune disorder, nervous disorder and skin diseases and these were utilized in interpreting total 100 items of bathroom design guideline. Because bathroom is the space where many physical movements are done, it had the closest relationship with the deterioration of musculoskeletal health in general and as bathroom is the space where people use water and feel the difference in temperature and moisture more than other spaces, deterioration of skin and somatosensory health had the next closest relationship. The result of this study revealed that regarding the deterioration of physical functions of the elderly people in aspect of their perceptibility as designers will design creatively and sincerely based on its relationship with nervous system in future, the result of this study will be used to develop better spatial designs efficiently to meet for the aging society.
