This paper investigates the user selection problem of successive zero-forcing precoded multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) downlink systems, in which the base station and mobile receivers are equipped with multiple antennas. Assuming full knowledge of the channel state information at the transmitter, dirty paper coding (DPC) is an optimal precoding strategy, but practical implementation is difficult because of its excessive complexity. As a suboptimal DPC solution, successive zero-forcing DPC (SZF-DPC) was recently proposed; it employs partial interference cancellation at the transmitter with dirty paper encoding. Because of a dimensionality constraint, the base station may select a subset of users to serve in order to maximize the total throughput. The exhaustive search algorithm is optimal; however, its computational complexity is prohibitive. In this paper, we develop two low-complexity user scheduling algorithms to maximize the sum rate capacity of MU-MIMO systems with SZF-DPC. Both algorithms add one user at a time. The first algorithm selects the user with the maximum product of the maximum column norm and maximum eigenvalue. The second algorithm selects the user with the maximum product of the minimum column norm and minimum eigenvalue. Simulation results demonstrate that the second algorithm achieves a performance similar to that of a previously proposed capacity-based selection algorithm at a high signal-to-noise (SNR), and the first algorithm achieves performance very similar to that of a capacity-based algorithm at a low SNR, but both do so with much lower complexity.
Abstract The growth of internet drives many applications into internet-based systems. Internet-based expert systems can be designed with various concepts and methodologies, and they have their own merits and demerits. This papers is a study on a development of not expert system itself but expert system shell which is able to use WWW(World Wide Web) as user interface. The suggested system supports functions on multiuser management controlled by a server system as well as independence on development environments, minimization of the load for clients and network, and text-based communications such as HTML. The system uses socket, which solves problems of queuing and serialization, in order to construct multiuser server/client environmen and also the system solves the non-connective property of WWW which makes it difficult to control users and processes by using IP address and idle time which is supported by the timer.

In this paper, we consider a precoder design for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) in distributed antenna systems (DAS). In DAS, remote radio heads (RRHs) are placed at geographically different locations within a cell area. Three different precoder design schemes are proposed to maximize the separate or joint signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) metrics by considering RRH sum power or per-RRH power constraints. The analytical closed-form form solution for each optimization problem is presented. Through computer simulation, we show that the joint SLNR based precoding schemes have better signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and bit error rate (BER) performances than the separate SLNR based schemes. Also, it is shown that the precoding scheme with RRH sum power constraint has better performance than the precoding scheme with per-RRH power constraint.

We propose multistage parallel nulling (MPN) partial parallel interference cancellation (PPIC) receiver for downlink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier (MC)-code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. Though the V-BLAST is a popular MIMO receiver, it shows error floor for multiuser downlink MIMO MC-CDMA systems. The proposed MPN-PPIC receiver does not produce error floor for multiuser case, and achieves substantial performance gains with multistage processing. For single user case, the proposed method also surpasses the V-BLAST receiver with multistage processing for MIMO MC-CDMA systems with chip level interleaving. The system performance of the proposed MPN-PPIC receiver is evaluated through computer simulations.

In this paper, we analyze a performance of multiuser massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system. We derive the ergodic cell capacity based on a downlink frame structure and analyze the ergodic cell capacity with respect to the number of base station (BS) antennas and the number of users. This paper shows that the ergodic cell capacity is a concave function with respect to the number of BS antennas and the number of users, and also derives the optimal numbers of BS antennas and users for the maximum cell capacity. The simulation results verify the derived analyses and show that the derived numbers of BS antennas and users provide the maximum cell capacity.

In this tutorial, we integrate the concept of cognitive radio technology into game theory and supermarket game theory to address the problem of resource allocation in multiuser multicarrier cognitive radio networks. In addition, multiuser multicarrier transmission technique is chosen as a candidate to study the resource allocation problem via game and supermarket game theory. This tutorial also includes various definitions, scenarios and examples related to (i) game theory (including both non-cooperative and cooperative games), (ii) supermarket game theory (including pricing, auction theory and oligopoly markets), and (iii) resource allocation in multicarrier techniques. Thus, interested readers can better understand the main tools that allow them to model the resource allocation problem in multicarrier networks via game and supermarket game theory. In this tutorial article, we first review the most fundamental concepts and architectures of CRNs and subsequently introduce the concepts of game theory, supermarket game theory and common solution to game models such as the Nash equilibrium and the Nash bargaining solution. Finally, a list of related studies is highlighted and compared in this tutorial.
In this paper, we propose new multiuser detectors (MUDs) based on compressed sensing approaches for the large-scale multiple antenna systems equipped with dozens of low-power antennas. We consider the scenarios where the number of receiver antennas is smaller than the total number of users, but the number of active users is relatively small. This prior information motivates sparsity-embracing MUDs such as sparsity-embracing linear/nonlinear MUDs where the detection of active users and their symbol detection are employed. In addition, sparsity-embracing MUDs with maximum a posteriori probability criterion (MAP-MUDs) are presented. They jointly detect active users and their symbols by exploiting the probability of user activity, and it can be solved efficiently by introducing convex relaxing senses. Furthermore, it is shown that sparsity-embracing MUDs exploiting common users' activity across multiple symbols, i.e., frame-by-frame, can be considered to improve performance. Also, in multiple multiple-input and multiple-output networks with aggressive frequency reuse, we propose the interference cancellation strategy for the proposed sparsity-embracing MUDs. That first cancels out the interference induced by adjacent networks and then recovers the desired users' information by exploiting the low user activity. In simulation studies for binary phase shift keying modulation, numerical evidences establish the effectiveness of our proposed MUDs exploiting low user activity, as compared with the conventional MUD.

Recently, multiuser detection has been investigated as an interesting topic because of its capability of eliminating multiuser interference and resistance to the near-far problem. In this paper, we consider a quasi maximum likelihood detector in the reverse link system which used antenna arrays in quasi-synchronous channels. It is also shown that the proposed system can suppress the interuser interference without using the side information of the other users. It is also shown that the performance of the proposed system is superior to that of the conventional matched filter system.

As the demand for smart phone user is rapidly increasing in recent years, the development of new mobile communication system which provides more improved quality compared to existing 3G standard is highly requested. In this point, the long-term evolution (LTE) system, which was being developed in mid of 2000's, has attracted a considerable attention. The LTE has been developed continuously to result a release 10 which is called as LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) in 2010. Among various features in LTE-A, the multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) design is expected to give better quality for throughput, spectral efficiency, and latency. In this paper, we first review the development process from LTE to LTE-A. We also provide the overview of design challenges and specific solutions for MU-MIMO systems developed in LTE-Advanced standard.

An analysis of the throughput and stability region of random access systems is currently of interest in research and industry. This study evaluated the performance of a multiuser random access channel with a retransmission gain. The channel was composed of a media access control (MAC) determined by the transmission probabilities and a multiuser communication channel characterized by the packet reception probabilities as functions of the number of packet transmissions and the collision status. The analysis began with an illustrative two-user channel, and was extended to a general multiuser channel. For the two-user channel, a sufficient condition was derived, under which the maximum throughput was achieved with a control-free MAC. For the channel with retransmission gain, the maximum steady throughput was obtained in a closed form. The condition under which the random access channel can acquire retransmission gain was also obtained. The stability region of the general random access channel was derived. These results include those of the well-known orthogonal channel, collision channel and slotted Aloha channel with packet reception as a special instance. The analytical and numerical results showed that exploiting the retransmission gain can increase the throughput significantly and expand the stability region of the random access channel. The analytical results predicted the performance in the simulations quite well.
