In order to achieve high capacity and reliable link quality in wireless communication, the significant efforts should be concentrated on mitigating interference between cells. To solve the interference problem, the newly introduced concept of a Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of joint control of the signals at multiple cells. This paper proposes a new concept of virtual cell: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on DWCS network. The proposed system manages two kinds of virtual cell. One is the Active Virtual Cell which exists for user's actual data traffic and the other is the Candidate Virtual Cell which contains a set of candidate antennas to protect user's link quality from performance degradation or interruption. The proposed system constructs DVC by using antenna selection method. Also, for multi-user high-rate data transmission, the proposed system introduces multiple antenna technology to get a spatial and temporal diversity gam and exploits space-Time Trellis Codes known as STTC to increase a spectral efficiency.

Recently, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) have been received considerable attention to be involved in the next generation mobile system. However, there are inherent inter-user interferences caused by the multiplexing multiple users in the same communication resource in NOMA systems. Two representative methods, the approximate white noise and random variable methods, have been adapted for the analysis of interferences in NOMA systems. In this paper, we derive the outage probabilities of an uplink NOMA system with the two analysis methods and compare the results. The numerical results of the outage probabilities versus transmitted power, distances, and power allocation are compared. We noticed that the derived functions are different each other, but the numerical results are coincident. It is shown that the two interference analysis methods can be applied to the analysis of NOMA systems.

In this paper, we have analyzed the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of multi-user detectors employing SIC(Successive Interference Cancellation) and PIC (Parallel Interference Cancellation) which are the representative schemes in the subtractive interference cancellation. We have considered the MUD structure employing HIC (Hybrid Interference Cancellation) which combines SIC with PIC scheme, and then analyzed the BER performance. We have evaluated the BER performance of SIC and HIC schemes which execute the soft decision to generate the tentative data bit for the purpose of the interference cancellation in MAI and noise environments. Through the numerical analysis and computer simulation, it is shown that HIC can remove the effect of MAI more efficiently than the others, that improve the BER performance and increase the capacity of DS-CDMA systems regardless of the power control conditions. The reason is that the SIC scheme in front of HIC can solve the near-far problem caused by the imperfect power control and PIC scheme in the rear of it can improve the performance much more.

In this paper, we propose a new beamforming method which is used in Multiple User-Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) system. An experimental system consists of LTE based TDD base-station which has 2 MIMO elements each of which contains 10-array antennas and 2 mobile terminals each of which has a single antenna. We demonstrate that the Multiple Access Interference can further be reduced by appending a beamforming procedure in MU-MIMO system in which various users share a given channel resource. The proposed algorithm is the ordinary Lagrange beamforming algorithm combined with Zero-Forcing. It is demonstrated that the proposed beamforming method outperforms a conventional method which is the ZF at least by 8dB in terms of SNR through computer simulations. From experimental tests, we verify the feasibility of the proposed beamforming algorithm for realizing a practical LTE based TDD base-station for utilizing channel resources more efficiently.

Hopping sequences of Time Hopped Ultra Wideband Impulse Radio (TH-UWB-IR) system are to mitigate multipath fading and to provide the multiple access chances for multi users. For the reliable communications, the same pulses are repeatedly transmitted for a bit duration based on hopping sequences. The proposed decoding scheme utilizes the intervals of inter-codes in a frame where the short interval between two pulses leads to the large interference by the multipath fading. For a single user case, the proposed method obtains 0.5dB gain over the conventional method at BER=$10^{-3}$. Decoding performance of repeated pulses can be increased using the property of the hopping sequences of multi users.

In the DS/CDMA mobile communication systems, the parallel interference canceller is used in order to reduce the multiple access interference and the multipath fading. It is needed the accurate interference estimate in the multistage parallel cancellation. In this paper, the adaptive cancellation method and the new tentative decision device arc proposed and the performance is analyzed. The adaptive cancellation method uses the normalized least mean square(NLMS) algorithm to calculate the weight adaptively, and new tentative decision device uses the hyperbolic tangent decision with null zone. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme has the improved performance and the number of user is increased 48% compared with the conventional receiver.

A space-time concatenated convolutional and differential coding scheme is employed in a multiuser direct-sequence code-division multiple-access(DS-CDMA) system. The system consists of single-user detectors (SUD), which are used to suppress multiple-access interference(MAI) with no requirement of other users' spreading codes, timing, or phase information. The space-time differential code, treated as a convolutional code of code rate 1 and memory 1, does not sacrifice the coding efficiency and has the least number of states. In addition, it brings a diversity gain through the space-time processing with a simple decoding process. The iterative process exchanges information between the differential decoder and the convolutional decoder. Numerical results show that this space-time concatenated coding scheme provides better performance and more flexibility than conventional convolutional codes in DS-CDMA systems, even in the sense of similar complexity Further study shows that the performance of this coding scheme applying to DS-CDMA systems with SUDs improves by increasing the processing gain or the number of taps of the interference suppression filter, and degrades for higher near-far interfering power or additional near-far interfering users.
Blind techniques without the help of training sequences are able to detect the information signal which has the minimal information of desired user. In this paper, we proposed the blind multiuser detector using the hybrid cost function to cancel the multiple user interference in direct sequence code division multiple access systems. The cost function of proposed blind multiuser detector is the hybrid type which joints both least mean square(LMS) algorithm and least mean fourth(LMF) algorithm. We evaluate the bit error rate(BER) performance of proposed blind multiuser detector under additive white Gaussian noise channel. Simulation results show that the proposed blind detector has an about 3dB of signal to noise ratio more than blind minimum output energy(MOE) multiuser detector under existing active user 20.

Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is a promising approach for cellular communication due to its energy efficiency and high achievable data rate. These advantages, however, can be realized only when channel state information (CSI) is available at the transmitter. Since there are many antennas, CSI is too large to feed back without compression. To compress CSI, prior work has applied compressive sensing (CS) techniques and the fact that CSI can be sparsified. The adopted sparsifying bases fail, however, to reflect the spatial correlation and channel conditions or to be feasible in practice. In this paper, we propose a new sparsifying basis that reflects the long-term characteristics of the channel, and needs no change as long as the spatial correlation model does not change. We propose a new reconstruction algorithm for CS, and also suggest dimensionality reduction as a compression method. To feed back compressed CSI in practice, we propose a new codebook for the compressed channel quantization assuming no other-cell interference. Numerical results confirm that the proposed channel feedback mechanisms show better performance in point-to-point (single-user) and point-to-multi-point (multi-user) scenarios.

In this paper, we consider 19 cells with the two tiers for polar-rectangular coordinates (PRCs) and provide the cell edge performance of cellular networks based on distance from cell center i.e., BS (base station). When FFR is applied(or adopted) to cell edge, it is expected that BS cooperation, or a coordinated multipoint (CoMP) multiple access strategy will further improve the system performance. We proposed a new method to evaluate the sum rate capacity of the MIMO DC of multicell system. We improve the performance of cell edge users for intercell interference cancelation in cooperative downlink multicell systems. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the reference schemes, in terms of cell edge SINR (signal-to-interference-noise ratio) with a minimal impact on the network path loss exponent. We show 13 dB improvements in cell-edge SINR by using reuse of three relative to reuse of one. BS cooperation has been proposed to mitigate the cell edge effect.
