  • In this study, we propose a new input device using vision technology for positioning of multiple DOFs. The input device is composed of multiple Tags on a transparent table and a vision camera below the table. Vision camera detects LEDs at the bottom of each Tag to derive information of the ID, position and orientation. The information are used to determine position and orientation of remote target DOFs. Our developed approach is very reliable and effective, especially when the corresponding DOFs are from many independent individuals. We show an application example with a SCARA robot to prove the flexibility and extendability.

  • In this letter, we derive a tight closed-form formula for an ergodic capacity of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) for the application of wireless communications. The derived expression is a simple closed-form formula to determine the ergodic capacity of MIMO systems. Assuming the channels are independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) Rayleigh flat-fading between antenna pairs, the ergodic capacity can be expressed in a closed form as the finite sum of exponential integrals.

  • Automatic guided vehicle(AGV) in the factory has an important role to advance the flexible manufacturing system. In this paper, we propose a novel object-transportation control algorithm of cooperative AGV systems to apply decentralized control scheme based on virtual-passivity. It is shown that the cooperative AGV systems ensure stability and the convergence to scaled multiple of each desired velocity field for multiple AGV systems. Finally, the application of proposed virtual passivity-based decentralized control algorithm via system augmentation is applied to be the tracking a circle. Also. the simulation results for the object-transportation by two AGV systems illustrate the validity of the proposed control scheme.

  • For visual navigation, mobile robot can use a stereo camera which has large field of view. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect and recognize human face on the basis of such camera system. In this paper, a new coarse to fine detection algorithm is proposed. For coarse detection, nearly face-like areas are found in entire image using dual ellipse templates. And, detailed alignment of facial outline and features is performed on the basis of view- based multiple appearance model. Because it hard to finely align with facial features in this case, we try to find most resembled face image area is selected from multiple face appearances using most distinguished facial features- two eye...

  • This paper presents a Multiple Target Tracking (MTT) Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system which consists of three parts; a multi-model-based multi-target state estimator, a primary vehicular target determination algorithm, and a single-target adaptive cruise control algorithm. Three motion models, which are validated using simulated and experimental data, are adopted to distinguish large lateral motions from longitudinally excited motions. The improvement in the state estimation performance when using three models is verified in target tracking simulations. However, the performance and safety benefits of a multi-model-based MTT-ACC system is investigated via simulations using real driving radar sensor data. The MTT-ACC system is tested under lane changing situations to examine how much the system performance is improved when multiple models are incorporated. Simulation results show system response that is more realistic and reflective of actual human driving behavior.

  • This paper suggests a material mixing method to mix several materials in a structure. This method is based on ESO(Evolutionary Structural Optimization), which has been used to optimize topology of only one material structure. In this study, two criterions for material transformation and element removal are implemented for mixing several materials in a structure. Optimal topology for a multiple material structure can be obtained through repetitive application of the two criterions at each iteration. Two practical design examples of a short cantilever are presented to illustrate validity of the suggested material mixing method. It is found that the suggested method works very well and a multiple material structure has more stiffness than one material structure has under the same mass.

  • Missing continuous covariates are pervasive in the use of generalized linear models for medical data. Multiple imputation is the most common and easy-to-do method of dealing with missing covariate data. However, there are always serious warnings in using this method. There should be concern to make imputed values more proper. In this paper, proper imputation from posterior predictive distribution is developed for implementing with arbitrary priors. We use empirical distribution of the posterior for approximating the posterior predictive distribution, to sample from it. This method is preferable in comparison with a presented imputation method of us which uses a full model to impute missing values using available software. The proposed methods are implemented on glucocorticoid data.

  • This paper is concerned with an accurate delay time modling of the ED MOS logic gates and its application to the multiple delay logic simulator. The proposed delay model of the ED MOS logic gate takes account of the effects of not only the loading conditions but also the slope of the input waveform. Defining delay as the time spent by the current imbalance of the active inverter to charge and discharge the output load, with respect to physical reference levels, rise and fall model delay times are obtained in an explicit formulation, using optimally weighted imbalance currents at the end points of the voltage transition. A logic simulator which uses multiple rise/fall delays based on the model as decribed in the above has been developed. The new delay model and timing verification method are evaluated with repect to delay accuracy and execution time.

  • Five different poplar hybrids were tested for rescuing embryo to elongate in vitro plantiets after hybridization. Ovaries and ovules were cultured on Woody Plant Medium (WPM) supplemented with cytokinins, 6-benzylamine (BA) and zeatin. Multiple shoots were initiated from half section of capsule with immature embryos after 21 days from pollination and tiny shoots were formed after the expansion of cotyledons in ovule cultures. Germinating response was better in intraspecific hybrids $(6.53\pm1.66)$ than interspecific crosses $(0.93\pm0.54)$ from half section of capsules on WPM medium. In general, zeatin was better than BA in inducing multiple shoots from isolated ovules. The highest average number $(19.40\pm4.53)$ of shoots was produced from immature ovules of 21 days post-pollination of WPM medium supplemented with 5.0 mg/L zeatin. The highest percentage of germination was 93% from the half section of in vitro ovary cultures. Soil acclimation was successfully conducted in cell tray containing artificially mixed soil with 96% survival rate.
