This paper presents a non-contact measurement method of vital signal by the use of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) bio-radar system, configured with two antennas that are separated by a certain distance. The direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm for coherent sources was applied to detect vital signals coming from different spatial angles. The proposed MIMO bio-radar system was composed of two identical transceivers sharing single VCO with a PLL. In order to verify the performance of the system, the DOA estimation experiment was completed with respect to the human target at angles varying between $-50^{\circ}$ and $50^{\circ}$ where the bio-radar system was placed at distances (corresponding to 50 cm and 95 cm) in front of a human target. The proposed MIMO bio-radar system can successfully find the direction of a human target.

In this paper, we propose a multiple-input, multiple-output(MIMO) interferometric radar network system to generate three-dimensional (3-D) MIMO interferometric inverse synthetic aperture radar(InISAR) image. In the MIMO interferometric radar network system, the MIMO InISAR image can be formed by an incoherent summation of multiple bistatic InISAR images that show 3-D scatterers of a target observed at different bistatic interfermetric configurations, respectively. Because bistatic-sccattering physics of a target at different viewpoints are visible in the 3-D MIMO InISAR image, it can provide various scatterering physics properties of a target, and can be used for target classification as a useful feature vector. Simulations validate that our proposed method successfully finds locations of scatterers of a target in MIMO radar interferometric network system.
This paper addresses the problem of robust waveform design for distributed multiple-radar systems (DMRSs) based on low probability of intercept (LPI), where signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and mutual information (MI) are utilized as the metrics for target detection and information extraction, respectively. Recognizing that a precise characterization of a target spectrum is impossible to capture in practice, we consider that a target spectrum lies in an uncertainty class bounded by known upper and lower bounds. Based on this model, robust waveform design approaches for the DMRS are developed based on LPI-SINR and LPI-MI criteria, where the total transmitting energy is minimized for a given system performance. Numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

A multiple radar system is comprised of early warning radar for fast detection of a target and air defense radar for precision intercept. For this reason, target take-over process is required between the two radars. The target take-over should be performed at an appropriate time by consideration of stable tracking and effective fire control. In this paper, operation characteristics of multiple radar system are analyzed and target take-over time determination method using estimation of target tracking performance is proposed for high-velocity targets. The proposed method is validated with ballistic target defense scenarios in the developed integrated simulator.

It is important for advanced active safety systems and autonomous driving cars to get the accurate estimates of the nearby vehicles in order to increase their safety and performance. This paper proposes a sensor fusion method for radar and vision sensors to accurately estimate the state of the preceding vehicles. In particular, we performed a study on compensating for the lateral state error on automotive radar sensors by using a vision sensor. The proposed method is based on the Interactive Multiple Model(IMM) algorithm, which stochastically integrates the multiple Kalman Filters with the multiple models depending on lateral-compensation mode and radar-single sensor mode. In addition, a Probabilistic Data Association Filter(PDAF) is utilized as a data association method to improve the reliability of the estimates under a cluttered radar environment. A two-step correction method is used in the Kalman filter, which efficiently associates both the radar and vision measurements into single state estimates. Finally, the proposed method is validated through off-line simulations using measurements obtained from a field test in an actual road environment.

An architecture for multiple radar tracking systems can be broadly categorized according to the methods in which the tracking functions are performed : central-level tracking and distributed tracking. In the central-level tracking, target tracking is performed using observations from all radar systems. This architecture provides optimal solution to target tracking. In distributed tracking, tracking is performed at each radar system and the composite track information is formed through track fusion integrating multiple radar-level tracks. Track-to-track fusion and track-to-track association are required to perform in this architecture. In this paper, issues and recent research on the two tracking architectures are surveyed.

In this paper, we study the estimation of angle, range and polarization parameters of a bistatic polarization sensitive frequency diverse array multiple-input multiple-output (PSFDA-MIMO) radar system. The application of polarization sensitive array in receiver is explored. A signal model of bistatic PSFDA-MIMO radar system is established. In order to utilize the multi-dimensional structure of array signals, the matched filtering radar data can be represented by a third-order tensor model. A joint estimation of the direction-of-departure (DOD), direction-of-arrival (DOA), range and polarization parameters based on parallel factor (PARAFAC) algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm does not need to search spectral peaks and singular value decomposition, and can obtain automatic pairing estimation. The method was compared with the existing methods, and the results show that the performance of the method is better. Therefore, the accuracy of the parameter estimation is further improved.

This paper presents a multiple target tracking system using Normalized Rayleigh likelihood of amplitude information of target. Although many studies of Radar systems using amplitude information have been studied, they are focused on single target tracking. This paper proposes the multiple target tracking using amplitude information as well as kinematic information from Radar sensor. The amplitude information are applied in generating the association probability of joint probabilistic data association(JPDA) algorithm through the normalized Rayleigh likelihood. It is verified that the proposed system can enhance the track maintenance and tracking accuracy, especially, in the target crossing case.

This paper proposes a systematic method for estimating detection performances of a frequency-modulated continuous wave radar using electromagnetic simulations. The proposed systematic method includes a radar system simulator that can obtain range-Doppler images using the electromagnetic (EM) simulations in conjunction with a test setup employed for performance evaluation of multiple targets at different velocities in a traffic environment. This method is then applied for optimizing the half-power beamwidths of the antenna array using an evaluation metric defined to improve the detection strengths for the multiple targets. The optimized antenna has vertical and horizontal half-power beam widths of $10^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$, respectively. The results confirm that that the proposed systematic method is suitable to improve the radar detection performance with the enhanced radar-Doppler images.
The radar flight test has many restrictions on simulating various targets, clutter and jamming signal. Therefore, in this study, a radar HILS system that performs a radar operation simulation function according to an operation scenario was developed. Radar HILS simulates the radar mission environment through radar beam operation simulation, radar operation control, simulated signal generation, and flight attitude simulation.. HILS generates and modulates simulated target signals(single, multiple targets) containing radar mission environments(clutter, jamming etc.) based on flight scenarios, and transmits them to AESA radar over RF. And Scenario-based radar performance was verified by detecting simulated targets and confirming detection results.
