  • Oyster shell is produced by shucking process in oyster farming in southern coast of Korea. In average, about 6.7kg of oyster shell is produced as an industrial waste for 1kg of oyster flesh, and even only in last year, it is estimated that about 150,000 ton of oyster shell is produced. Oyster shell is light weighted and the strength characteristic of it is similar to sand. So we produced mortar test using different law of multiple proportions of grounded oyster shell powder of its particle size according to fine aggregate standard and reviewed strength Properties.

  • In this paper it is researched a relation between network structures and electrical properties - especially dielectric characteristics with changing of network structure. It is resulted that the specimens which have single network structures have smaller dielectric loss than SIN specimens but have relatively larger dependency to variation of temperature and frequency. For that reason formation of structures is attained by introducing of SIN to insulating materials. therefore it is counted that introduction of multiple structure including SIN is necessary to improve heat proof and electrical properties.

  • One of the controversial issues in English locative inversion (LI) construction( e. g. Under the tree sat a woman) has been the functional status of preverbal PP and postverbal NP, i.e. whether they are a subject, a complement, or filer (topic) Based on the distributional parallelisms between the PP and NP on the one hand and an ordinary subject and filler on the other this paper proposes that the PP has a dual function as a subject and filler, while the NP also has some subject properties that the PP does not have These mixed functional properties are analyzed in the theory of HPSG expecially with the versions recently developed by Sag(1997) Manning and Sag(1999) and Ginzburg and Sag(to appear). This analysis claims that the LI construction needs to satisfy two general, independent constraints head-subject- phrase and head-filler-phrase. This position suggests that the English LI construction is an instance of the peripheral phenomena whose construction specific constraint is inherited from more general core constraints. • There has been no nuanimous analysis of specific indefinites. It is still disputed even whether specificity is a matter of semantics of pragmatics. In this paper, I introduce some properties of specific indefinites, and explain them based on the meaning of specificity. Specificity intuitively means that the speaker or someone else in the context has some individual in mind, which is generally accepted among liguistics. The main issue is how to represent the meaning of 'have-in-mind'. I review some philosophical discusstions of cognitive contact and show that when the use of an expression involves 'have-in-mind', the expression is rigid designator in the belief of the agent who has an individual in mind. in the use of a specific indefinite, this applies only to the information state of the agent of 'have-in-mind'. To represent this asymmetry, I propose a new theory of dynamic semantics, in which a common ground consists of multiple information states, as many as the number of the participants in a conversation. Moreover, each information state is structured as a set of epistemic alternatives, which is a set of possible information states of a participant in the context. Based on this semantics, the properties of specific indefinites are explained.

  • An understanding of biomaterials' smart properties and how biocomposite materials are manufactured by cells provides not only bio-inspiration for new classes of smart actuators and sensors but also foundational technology for smart materials and their manufacture. In this case study, I examine the unique smart properties of bone, which are evident at multiple length scales and how they provide inspiration for novel classes of mechanoactive materials. I then review potential approaches to engineer and manufacture bioinspired smart materials that can be applied to solve currently intractable problems such as the need for "smart" body armor or decor cum personal safety devices.

  • An apparatus capable of melting and solidifying various materials containerlessly in high vacuum via electrostatic levitation (ESL) has been developed for finding materials with new or improved properties and further building a database for processing materials in microgravity. Containerless solidification of semiconductors, metals, and alloys such as Si, Zr, Nb, Mo, $V_3Si$, and boron carbides has been carried out to test how various materials at how high temperatures can be processed by ESL. The materials in levitation became spherical at melting by their own surface tensions which were ideal for measuring intrinsic thermophysical properties of materials in the liquid state. Multiple cycles of melting and cooling were reproducibly repeated and radiative cooling curves were recorded.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the fundamental properties of polyurethan concrete. Polyurethane must be expanded by means of a blowing agent during polymerization. Chemical blowing is caused by the reaction water with isocyanate. Binder system for polyurethane concrete is based on polyol and isocyanate with catalyst, surfactant, and methyl chloride. Polyurethane concretes are prepared with various grading of aggregate, and tested for compressive, flexural strengths, flow test, foaming multiple proportion, working life, condition of surface, distirbution of aggregate. From the test results, the foaming of polyurethane concretes are affceted by amount and grading of aggregate. Workability increases with raising amount of methy chloride and working life reduced according to amount of catalyst. The mix proportion of B with methyl chloride of 1% and catalyst of 0.1g for polyurethane concrete is recommended in consideration of strengths, condition of surface and balance between cost and performance.

  • Concrete is one of the principal materials for the structure and it is widely used all over the world, but it shows extremely brittle failure under bending and tensile load. Recently to improve such a poor property, Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites (DFRCC) have been developed, and it are defined by an ultimate strength higher than their first cracking strength and the formation of multiple cracking during the inelastic deformation process. This paper is to estimate experimentally the mechanical properties of ductile concrete with the kinds of used fine and coarse aggregate for purpose of development of high ductile concrete mixing coarse aggregate. As the results, ductile concrete mixed coarse aggregate showed the displacement-hardening behavior under bending load similar to DFRCC, and its compressive and bending performance varied according to the kinds of used coarse aggregate.

  • As we understand it, Process Capability indices are intended to provide single-number assessments of ability to meet specification limits on quality characteristics of interest. As a consequence of the varied ways in which PCIs are used, there have been two natural lines of research work: $\circled1$ studies on the properties of PCIs and their estimators in many different environments; $\circled2$ construction of new PCIs purporting to have better properties in certain circumstances. The most of existing process capability indices are concerned with the single variable. But, in many cases, a quality characteristic is composed with several factors. In that case, we want to know the integrated process capability of a quality characteristic not those of each factor. In this paper, we proposed a new multivariate system process capability index called $MSPCI:SC_{psk}$ which is the geometric mean of performance measure $C_{psk}$'S, and will be used as the criterion to assess multiple response process designs. Numerical illustration is done for $SC_{psk}$, $\overline{C_p}$(f), Cp, Cpk, Cpm, and Cpsk.

  • This paper is concerned with minimization process of the binary logic function. This paper describes an algorithm called the SIMPLE TABLE METHOD that well suited to minimization a switching function of any number of variables. For the Simple Table construction, a theorem based upon the numerical properties of the logic function is derived from the relationships governing minterms of the given function. Finally the minimal sum of products can be obtained in terms of the Direct Method or the Indirect Method from the table and table characteristics derived from the Simple Table. The properties and table characteristics used in this paper are described. All the minterms of a switching function are manipulated only by decimal numbers, not binary numbers. Some examples are used as a vehicle to guide the readers who are familiar with the Karnaugh map and Quine-McCluskey tabular method to this New method. These examples not only treat how to handle Don't Care miterms but also show the multiple output functions.
