  • In this paper, we consider the rational approximation of multiple input delay systems. The method of computing Hankel singular values and vectors is firstly introduced, where explicitly shows the structure of the corresponding Hankel singular vectors. Secondly, rational approximants are obtained from output nor- mal relizations, which are constructed by Hankel singular values and vectors. As a result, it is shown that rational approximants by output normal realization preserve intrinsic properties of time delay systems than Pad'e approximants.

  • In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to improve the accuracy of the Wi-Fi access point (AP) positioning technique. The proposed algorithm based on evaluating the trustworthiness of the signal strength quality of each measurement node is superior to other existing AP positioning algorithms, such as the centroid, weighted centroid, multilateration, and radio distance ratio methods, owing to advantages such as reduction of distance errors during positioning, reduction of complexity, and ease of implementation. To validate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we conducted experiments in a complex indoor environment with multiple walls and obstacles, multiple office rooms, corridors, and lobby, and measured the corresponding AP signal strength value at several specific points based on their coordinates. Using the proposed algorithm, we can obtain more accurate positioning results of the APs for use in research or industrial applications, such as finding rogue APs, creating radio maps, or estimating the radio frequency propagation properties in an area.

  • According to the recent issue regarding the shortage of concrete supply, it is common to appoint various concrete suppliers and allow mixed pouring according to the specification requirements. Moreover, if the concrete is mixed inevitably a strength and property test is carried out for verification. Therefore, in this research, multiple concrete suppliers were selected and each required raw material was collected for the test of all variable mixed design. Through the test, the property of the unhardened and hardened concrete was quantitatively evaluated.

  • We examined the dB difference in target strength at multiple frequencies (ΔTS) for the identification of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) and ice krill (Euphausia crystallorophias) using a stochastic distorted-wave Born approximation model. Our investigation focused on ΔTS patterns at multiple frequencies in relation to size, along with key acoustic properties influencing TS, including density and sound speed contrast, fatness, and orientation. The findings revealed that the orientation and fatness significantly affect the ΔTS patterns. The results provide insight into the importance of the multi-frequency technique for estimating krill biomass and their ecological interactions with environmental features in the Southern Ocean.

  • Deep-sea surface sediments were collected using a multiple corer at 20 stations of Clarion-Clipperton fracture zone in the northeast equatorial Pacific to understand latitudinal and longitudinal variations of geotechnical properties. There was a distinct latitudinal variation of geotechnical properties in the study area. The northern sediments showed finer grain size, lower water content and porosity, higher bulk density and specific grain density, lower liquid limits and plastic limits than their southern counterparts. The northern sediments are classified into inorganic clays of low plasticity (fat clays) on plasticity charts and normal to active clay on activity chart, whereas, the southern sediments are classified into fine-grained, highly-plastic, inorganic and biogenic silt or organic clays on plasticity chart and normal to very active clay on activity chart. When shear strength are considered, the northern sediments were found to be in unconsolidated states, while the southern ones to be normal to over-consolidated states. These latitudinal variations in sediment characteristics are likely caused by differences in productivity of surface water that controls sediment compositions, sedimentation rates, and grain solubility.

  • The effect of novel N-crotyl-N,N-dimethyl-4-methylanilinium hexafluroantimonate (CMH) curing agent on cure behavior and thermal properties of DGEBA epoxy cationic system was investigated. From DSC measurements of DGEBA/CMH system, it was shown that this system exhibits an excellent thermal latent characteristic in a given temperature and reveals complex cure behavior as indicated by multiple exotherms. The conversion and conversion rate of DGEBA/CMH system increased with increasing the concentration of initiator due to high activity of CMH. Viscoelastic properties during gel formation of DGEBA with CMH were investigated by rheological techniques under isothermal condition. The gel time obtained from the modulus crossover. point t(G')=G", was affected by high curing temperature and concentration of CMH, resulting in high degree of network formation in cationic polymerization. The thermal stabilities were discussed in terms of the activation energy for decomposition and thermal factors determined from TGA measurements.ents.

  • Elastoplastic analysis of an annular disc, being fully constrained on its outer rim and interacting with a purely elastic inclusion perfectly bonded with its inner rim, is conducted to study its plastic deformation and residual stress under thermal cycles. The system is termed the composite disc. Quasi-static plane-strain deformation is assumed, and the von Mises yield criterion with or without the Ludwik hardening rule is adopted in our finite element calculations. Effects of multiple material properties simultaneously being temperature dependent on the plastic behavior of the composite disc are considered. Residual stress is analyzed from a complete loading and unloading cycle. Results are discussed for various inclusion radii. It is found that when temperature dependent material properties are considered, the maximum residual stress may be greater than the maximum stress inside the disc at the temperature-loaded state due to lower temperature having larger yield stress. Temperature independent material properties overestimate stresses inside materials, as well as the elastic irreversible temperature and plastic collapse temperature.

  • All production and consumption activities produce wastes, which often cause damage to our environment and multiple risks to the human health. The valorization of these wastes in concrete technology is a future solution that will allow finding other construction materials sources, optimizing energy consumption and protecting the environment. Among these wastes, there is the marble waste. Every year, huge amount of marble waste is discarded as dust or aggregates form, in open-air storage areas causing serious problems for the environment and public health. In this context, the incorporation of marble waste as a replacement of ordinary aggregates or cement in concrete composition is actively investigated by researchers. This paper presents a comprehensive review of published studies over the last 20 years, dealing the effect of marble waste on fresh and hardened properties of concrete. Most of the studies carried out have used marble waste as dust with substitution rates between 5 and 20%. Besides the economic and ecological benefits, this review showed that marble waste can improve the physical, mechanical and durability properties of concrete. This improvement depends on the form (dust, fine aggregate or coarse aggregate), substitution method (as cement or aggregates replacement) and substitution rate of marble waste. Additionally, the review results showed that the use of 10-15% of marble waste dust as cement substitution can lead to increase the compressive strength.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop a the reflection technique with near infrared (NIR) radiation for estimating physico-chemical properties in compost. The composts (cattle, pig, chicken and waste composts) were air dried and then ground to pass through a 0.5 or 2mm sieve for the physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic determinations. The physico-chemical properties of compost were shown high values ; moisture(30-60%), T-N(0.8-2.9%), organic matter(29-89%), pH(5.89-9.60) K$_2$O(0.27-5.66%), P2O$\sub$5/(0.07-2.62%), CaO(0.03-4.80%), MgO(0.09-1.56%), NaCl(0.01-1.13%), EC(1.41-13.76dS/m). Generally, we should select a simple calibration and prediction method for determining physico-chemical properties in compost under similar accuracy and precision of prediction. It should be remembered that the NIRS approach will never replace the traditional methods. However, NIRS technique may be an effective method for rapid and nondestructive measurements of a large number of compost samples. Near infrared reflectance spectra of composts was obtained by Infra Alyzer 500 scanning spectrophotometer at 2-nm intervals from 1100 to 2500nm. Multiple linear regression(MLR) or partial least square regression (PLSR) was used to evaluate a NIRS method for the rapid and nondestructive determination of physico-chemical properties and humic acid contents in composts. The standard error of prediction(SEP) for finely sized sample(<0.5mm) and coarsely sized sample(<2mm) did not show much difference. The NIR instrument of filter type showed the same accuracy of the monochromator scanning type to estimate the compost properties. The results summarized that NIR spectroscopy can be used as a routine testing method to determine quantitatively the OM, moisture, T-N, color, pH, cation content in the compost samples nondestructively.

  • The effect of rapid thermal annealing (RTA) on the optical properties of digital-alloy InGaAlAs multiple quantum well (MQW) structures have been investigated by using photoluminescence (PL) and time-resolved PL measurements as a function of RTA temperature. The MQW samples were annealed from $700^{\circ}C$ to $850^{\circ}C$ for 30 s in a nitrogen atmosphere. The MQW sample annealed at $750^{\circ}C$ exhibited the strongest PL intensity and the narrowest FWHM (Full width at half maximum), indicating the reduced nonradiative recombination centers and the improved interfaces between the wells and barriers. The MQW samples annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ showed the decreased PL intensities and blueshifted PL peaks compared to $750^{\circ}C$-annealed sample. The blueshift of PL peak with increasing RTA temperatures are ascribed to the increase of aluminum due to intermixing of gallium (Ga) and aluminum (Al) in the interfaces of InGaAs/InAlAs short-period superlattices. The decrease of PL intensity after annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ are attributed to the interface roughening and lateral composition modulation caused by the interdiffusion of Ga and Al and indium segregation, respectively. With increasing RTA temperature the PL decay becomes slower, indicating the decrease of nonradiative defect centers. The optical properties of digital-alloy InGaAlAs MQW structures can be improved significantly with optimum RTA conditions.
