  • The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting quality of life among elderly people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) in a community. The design of this study was an exploratory survey. The subjects were 268 adults aged over 65 years with DM in a community. The data were collected from July to October, 2011 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression by using SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. The quality of life was positively associated with self care behavior (r=.226, p<.001), self-efficacy (r=.323, p<.001), and social support (r=.345, p<.001). However, quality of life had moderately negative correlation with depression (r=-.445, p<.001). Among the variables, depression, social support, and self-efficacy were explanatory factors accounting for 23.9% of quality of life. These findings suggest that depression and self-efficacy are important factors affecting quality of life in the elderly with DM and it can be improved by strengthening social support.

A total of 400 people aged from 20s to 50s were surveyed in October, 2005. The data were analyzed with factorial analysis, multiple regression analysis, ANOVA, Duncan Test, Cronbach' $\alpha$ etc., using the SPSS 10.0. The survey showed: 1) Seven factors were identified -'interest in health', 'social awareness', 'soul and body balance', 'environment preservation', 'recycle', 'rural life' and 'leisure', 2) The WP was affected by age and sex. Female responders were more interested in 'soul and body balance' and 'environment preservation' while male responders were more interested in 'leisure'; and 3) Purchase of well-being products and fashion well-being products were affected by 'soul and body balance', 'interest in health', 'environment preservation', and 'rural life'. Women and young people had more experiences of purchasing well-being products in the past and showed more intention to purchase well-being products in the future.

  • This study aims to examine the influence of Islamic leadership and Islamic work culture on employee performance through work motivation and job satisfaction. This study was conducted at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia, because so far, there is still very limited research on the relationships between Islamic leadership, work culture, and work motivation in educational personnel performance. The educational personnel performance is expected to increase at UIN Walisongo Semarang with continuous efforts to improve to survive and develop as much as possible. The population of this study was all educational personnel at UIN Walisongo Semarang, Indonesia. Of 186 people, only 127 people were involved in this study. The research method used was a survey method using primary data collected through questionnaires. This study's analysis technique employed multiple linear regression. The results uncovered that, out of the eight hypotheses proposed, six hypotheses were accepted. Islamic leadership and Islamic work culture were found to have no direct effect on employee performance. Besides, work motivation and job satisfaction became essential factors mediating Islamic leadership and Islamic work culture on employee performance. Spiritual values in leadership inspire employees to build the organization's vision and create job satisfaction, which in turn impacted employees' performance.

Methods: Subjects were 257 elderly people residing in rural areas of six cities and Gangwon Province. Data was collected through questionnaires (demographic and socioeconomic status, social resources, health behaviors, physical environment, psychological tendency and general health levels) and was analyzed by using multiple regression and Sobel test. Results: The demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the subjects exerted statistically significant influence on their social resources, health behaviors, physical environment, and psychological tendencies. The demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, social resources, health behaviors, physical environment, and psychological tendencies, in turn, exerted a statistically significant influence on the health level. The social resources had mediating effects on the relationship between income, one of the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, and health level. The residential environments had mediating effects on the relationship between income and health level. The psychological tendency had mediating effects on the relationship between income and health level. Conclusion: This study suggests that income is an important factor affecting health level among rural elderly people. In addition, social resources, health behaviors, physical environment, and psychological tendencies among them also affect health level, so it is necessary to make strategies to improve these factors.

  • Recently we have built a VR(Virtual Reality) theater in Kyongju, Korea, which combines the advantages of VR and IMAX theater. The VR theater provides a virtual environment for several hundreds of people at the same time. The VR theater can be characterized by a single shared screen and by multiple inputs from several hundreds of people. In this case, multi-user interaction is different from that of networked VR systems and must be reconsidered. This paper defines the multi-user interaction in such a VR theater as Audience Interaction, and discusses key issues for the implementation of the Audience Interaction. This paper also presents a real implementation example in the Kyongju VR theater.

  • As social network service platforms grow and one-person media market expands, people upload their own photos and/or videos through multiple open platforms. However, it can be illegal to upload the digital contents containing the faces of others on the public sites without their permission. Therefore, many people are spending much time and effort in editing such digital contents so that the faces of others should not be exposed to the public. In this paper, we propose an automatic face hiding system called 'autoblur', which detects all the unregistered faces and mosaic them automatically. The system has been implemented using the GitHub MIT open-source 'Face Recognition' which is based on deep learning technology. In this system, two dozens of face images of the user are taken from different angles to register his/her own face. Once the face of the user is learned and registered, the system detects all the other faces for the given photo or video and then blurs them out. Our experiments show that it produces quick and correct results for the sample photos.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and to investigate the affecting factors according to gender in older adults by using the 2012 Korea Health Panel data. Methods: The Korea Health Panel data 2012 were collected from February to August 2012 by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and National Health Insurance Corporation and the number of respondents were 1,921. The data were analyzed by t-test, chi-square, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN program. Results: The limitation of activity was the most influential factor for health-related quality of life of both male and female. For male, the affecting factors on HRQoL were hearing problems and frustration. For female, the affecting factors on HRQoL were eating problems, depression and suicidal impulses. Drinking, moderate physical activities, vision problems and stress had a significant effect on HRQoL for both male and female. Conclusion: Health care providers should consider the differences between male and female when they design a program in order to improve HRQoL of older people.

  • The propose of this study is to suggest objective data to be utilized for a plan and the improvement of open space through the analysis of people's behaviour and satisfaction after the introduction of an opened-fence around offices followed by a plan for wall-afforestation of public institution's. The sites examined are four offices; two of them have opened-walls and the others have traditional enclosure. Analysis of frequency is conducted to understand the actual use according to people's individual peculiarities. Pearson's correlation analysis, t-test, multiple regression analysis are carried out to find out relations of fluents. In the end, the satisfaction is high in public institution satisfaction, entrance, space perception. stability, Landscaped office with opened-fence rather than fence, and the increase in usage of fluent of public institution satisfaction, entrance, space perception. stability, confusion brings about rising of use-satisfaction. Satisfaction with the exterior of building is the most important variable that influences the whole urban open space. Furthermore the influences of the approach and stability having connection with open or not-open fence is major variable affecting satisfaction of use of open space. Whether open or not is important factor on satisfaction of open space of office building. Through this study, we can find that opened fence determines use satisfaction of resting space of outdoor-office. So factors affecting satisfaction must be regarded as important requisite on planning, design, development and management in plan for afforestation of fence at public institution.
