The movie costumes may serve to change individuals'ego identity, shift a gender identity to another one and make multiple and plural gender identities shared. The unique identities shown in movies can influence the audience to the extent that they will imitate characters's costumes or appearance in their real life, replacing their inner, unrealizable and private fantasy with real one. The purpose of this study is to review the movies produced in 1930's and thereafter by categorizing the socio-cultural gender concepts into masculinity and feminity. Masculinity and Feminity are not attributions fixed by some physical characteristics, but it tends to be changed or expended by some social factors over time. In short, it may be a flexible, plural, individual and self-introspecive attribute. Movies present diverse types of masculinity and feminity, and in particular, the movie costumes specify them. In other words, the costumes may be model means expressing the masculinity and feminity, and the gender identities shown in the movies tend to be imitated, re-created or assumed by the audience. All in all, the movie costumes serve to take on the confrontation of masculinity and feminity between inner, unrealizable and private fantasy and external reality and thereby, expand it from internal to external issue and thus, change or reform masculinity and feminity.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing on burnout in operating room nurses. Methods: Using a cross-sectional design, a total of 109 operating room nurses working at 7 general hospitals with 300 beds or more in B city were analyzed. The instruments used for this study assessed job stress, resilience, professional identity, and burnout. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, a t-test, an ANOVA, a Pearson's correlation coefficient and a multiple regression analysis. Results: There was a statistically significant correlation between burnout and job stress (r=.53, p<.001), resilience (r=-.59, p<.001), and professional identity (r=-.47, p<.001). The factors influencing burnout include job stress (${\beta}=.27$, p<.001), resilience(${\beta}=-.37$, p<.001), dissatisfaction with the nursing job (${\beta}=.32$, p<.001), and moderate satisfaction with the nursing job (${\beta}=.19$, p=.014), and the explanatory power was 53.0%. Conclusions: The results suggest that intervention to reduce job stress and to improve resilience, which were the factors influencing burnout in operating room nurses, is necessary.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influences of parental neglect, national identity, and self-resiliency of multicultural adolescents on school adaptation. Methods: Participants are multicultural adolescents in the 4th year (2014) of the multicultural adolescents panel survey. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 program. Results: Self-resiliency was the most influential factor on school adaptation of multicultural adolescents, followed by parental neglect, and national identity, mother's Korean reading ability, multicultural adolescents' speaking ability, city size, mother's education, and mother's speaking ability. Conclusion: Multicultural families who had an experience of parental neglect should be selected and those parents need to be educated about the appropriate parenting method to improve the school adaptation of multicultural adolescents. In addition, the school adaptation improvement program should be developed and provided to strengthen the national identity and self-resiliency of multicultural adolescents.
Purpose: This study investigated career identity, decision-making, and preparation behaviors among emergency medical service (EMS) students after clinical practice, aiming to enhance their career guidance by identifying influential factors. Methods: This study targeted 178 students enrolled in the Department of Paramedicine in K-do, G-do, and D metropolitan cities. Data were collected between March 14th and April 30, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0, employing techniques such as frequency, correlation, and multiple regression analyses. Results: The findings indicated that components of career identity, encompassing affective and cognitive aspects, exerted significant effects on career decision levels (career assurance and career indecision) (p<.01, p<.001), whereas behavioral factors influenced aspects of career preparation, such as tool preparation, information collection, and practical effort(p<.001). Moreover, career decision levels (career assurance and career indecision) were found to affect information collection, a subcomponent of career preparation(p<.05, p<.01). Conclusion: Considering these factors and actively empathizing with and counseling students would lead to effective career guidance in the field of Emergency Medical Services.

The current study examined the relationships between task-approach skills of optimism, bearability, intolerance of uncertainty, career identity, career maturity, career barriers, and career aspiration. Data was collected from two-hundred sixty nine college students who matriculated in colleges located in Seoul, Gyeoungi and Chungchung provinces in Korea. The correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were carried out to explore the relationship among the variables mentioned above. The results of this study were as follows: First, career identity was positively correlated with career maturity, aspiration and negatively with career barrier. optimism was negatively correlated with career barrier. in addition, intolerance of uncertanity was positively correlated with career maturity. and negatively with career barriers. Second, multiple linear regression revealed that career identity, optimism and lacking intolerance of uncertanity significantly influenced career maturity, career identity, optimism and intolerance of uncertanity significantly influnced career barriers. In addition, only optimism influnced career aspiration. These findings implied that career counselors need to assist clients developing optimism, flexibility, bearability and counselors should be aware of the effect of task-approach skills on career, barriers, and aspiration. Further discussions regarding results are included.
In a virtual community, one can possess multiple identities and pretend to be different by creating self-identity in contrast with his or her actual self. Does false identity undermine the qualitative growth of a virtual community by reducing members' accountability? Or does it stimulate their contributive behaviors by ensuring freedom of speech? It is imperative to understand the effects of multi-identity considering the distinct properties of a virtual community in which people easily change their identities at little or no cost. To answer these questions, we adopted the concept of self-discrepancy from the social psychology theory rooted in the concept of the self and developed a theoretical model to predict quality of contribution of the individual member in virtual communities. Based on the self-discrepancy theory, we first identified two different domains of the self: (1) an "actual self" that consists of attributes that the person believes he or she currently possesses in real life and (2) a "cyber self" that consists of attributes the person believes he or she possesses in a virtual community. Next, we derived an index for two different types of self-discrepancy by using the differences between the actual and the cyber identities: Personal Self-discrepancy and Social Self-discrepancy. Personal Self-discrepancy reflects the degree of discrepancy between actual and cyber identity regarding a person's intelligence, education, and expertise. Social Self-discrepancy reflects the degree of discrepancy between actual and cyber identity regarding a person's morality, sociability, and accordance with social norms. Finally, we linked them with sense of virtual community, perceived privacy rights, and quality of contribution to examine how having a multi-identity influences an individual's psychological state and contributive behaviors in a virtual community. The results of the analysis based on 266 respondents showed that Social Self-discrepancy negatively influenced both the Sense of Virtual Community and Perceived Privacy Rights, while Personal Self-discrepancy negatively influenced only Perceived Privacy Rights, thereby resulting in reduced quality of contribution in virtual communities. Based on the results of this analysis, we can explain the dysfunctions of multi-identity in virtual communities. First, people who pretend to be different by engaging in socially undesirable behaviors under their alternative identities are more likely to suffer lower levels of psychological wellbeing and thus experience lower levels of sense of virtual community than others. Second, people do not perceive a high level of privacy rights reflecting catharsis, recovery, or autonomy, even though they create different selves and engage in socially undesirable behaviors in a virtual community. Third, people who pretend to be different persons in terms of their intelligence, education, or expertise also indirectly debase the quality of contribution by decreasing perceived privacy rights. The results suggest that virtual community managers should pay more attention to the negative influences exercised by multi-identity on the quality of contribution, thereby controlling the need to create alternative identities in virtual communities. We hope that more research will be conducted on this underexplored area of multi-identity and that our theoretical framework will serve as a useful conceptual tool for all endeavors.
The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of the parent-adolescent career congruence process in the association between the parent-adolescent relationship and career identity of South Korean college students. In particular, we investigated which kind of career congruence process mediates the positive effect of the interdependent parent-adolescent relationship (in support of emotional bond and filial piety) and the independent parent-adolescent relationship (in support of independence and autonomy) on career identity. Data of 509 college students were analyzed for this study, and parallel multiple mediation analysis was performed. As a result, the complementary and attunement congruence process fully mediated the relationship between parent-adolescent affective bonding and career identity. Authoritative filial piety had a negative direct effect on career identity, but a positive indirect effect by mediating the complementary and attunement congruence process. The mediation analysis showed that both complementary and attunement congruence process fully mediated the association between independent parent-adolescent relationship and career identity. However, family intrusion had only a negative direct effect on career identity. On the other hand, the supplementary congruence process did not have significant mediating effects between all types of parent-adolescent relationships and career identity. Also, the supplementary congruence process had a negative direct effect on career identity. Based on these results, we discussed culturally universal and culturally specific characteristics of the relationship between parent-adolescent relationships and career identity, along with the limitations and recommendations for future research.
The present study explored the impact of personality and self-identity on online information acquisition, information transmission and the usage of SNSs. Participants were 180 students, SNS users, from a university in Korea. Among the participants, 171 students completed all surveys. As a results, personality traits such as openness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism were positively related to the SNS usage and information behaviors. Social identity orientation was associated with time spent of SNS and the number of friends whereas collective identity orientation was related to information acquisition. As a result of multiple regression, time spent, openness, agreeableness, collective identity were significant predictors of information acquisition. The number of SNS in use, time spent of SNS, openness, neuroticism were predictors of information transmission. However, as the predictor of information transmission, neuroticism showed inverse relationship with information transmission.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of sex and gender role identity on college life adaptation. The participants were 142 male and 146 female students. The university life adaptation scale and gender role identity scale were carried out, and we conducted a parallel multiple mediator model using Process macro. As a result, while the effect of sex on adaptation level and resources was significant, the explanatory power increased to a meaningful level when effect of gender role identity was considered. In the adaptation level, the effects of masculinity and femininity are similar in magnitude, but in the resources, masculinity has a more positive effect. Finally, male students were mediated through masculinity and female students were mediated through femininity, which has a positive effect on adaptation. These results suggest a differentiated guidance direction according to sex and identity, and suggest that enterprising and challenging spirit is important.
Although previous studies have found that social participation activities are related to older people's life satisfaction and health status, the rate of social participation activities among older people is still low. The current study examined the relationship between age identity and social participation activities among older people and the extent to which this relationship differs by gender. Secondary data from the Survey of Living Conditions of Korean Older Persons were used to test the research hypothesis. Hierarchical multiple regression models were tested using a nationally representative sample of 10,451 community-dwelling older persons aged 65 and above. Older people who have older age identity were less likely to involve in social participation activities than those who have younger age identity. However, this relationship was only significant for older women. The findings suggest the need for attention to age identity and gender differences when promoting social participation activities.
