Modern production systems are very complex by request of automation, and failure modes that occur in thisautomatic system are very various and complex. The efficient fault diagnosis for these complex systems is essential for productivity loss prevention and cost saving. Traditional fault diagnostic system which perforns sequential fault diagnosis can cause catastrophic failure during diagnosis when fault propagation is very fast. This paper describes the Real-time Intelligent Multiple Fault Diagnosis System (RIMFDS). RIMFDS assesses current machine condition by using sensor signals. This system deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising of two main parts. One is a personal computer for remote signal generation and transmission and the other is a host system for multiple fault diagnosis. The signal generator generates various faulty signals and image information and sends them to the host. The host has various modules and agents for efficient multiple fault diagnosis. A SUN workstation is used as a host for multiple fault modules and agents for efficient multiple fault diagnosis. A SUN workstation is used as a host for multiple fault diagnosis and graphic representation of the results. RIMFDS diagnoses multiple faults with fast fault propagation and complex physical phenomenon. The new system based on multiprocessing diagnoses by using Hierarchical Artificial Neural Network (HANN).

With the advent of the smart home era, equipment that provides confidentiality or performs authentication exists in various places in real life. Accordingly security against physical attacks is required for encryption equipment and authentication equipment. In particular, fault injection attack that artificially inject a fault from the outside to recover a secret key or bypass an authentication process is one of the very threatening attack methods. Fault sources used in fault injection attacks include lasers, electromagnetic, voltage glitches, and clock glitches. Fault injection attacks are classified into single fault injection attacks and multiple fault injection attacks according to the number of faults injected. Existing multiple fault injection systems generally use a single fault source. The system configured to inject a single source of fault multiple times has disadvantages that there is a physical delay time and additional equipment is required. In this paper, we propose a multiple fault injection system using heterogeneous fault sources. In addition, to show the effectiveness of the proposed system, the results of a multiple fault injection attack against Riscure's Piñata board are shown.

In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis algorithm to detect and isolate multiple faults in a system. The proposed fault diagnosis algorithm is based on a multiple fault classifier which consists of two ART2 NN(adaptive resonance theory2 neural network) modules and the algorithm is composed of three main parts - parameter estimation, fault detection and isolation. When a change in the system occurs, estimated parameters go through a transition zone in which residuals between the system output and the estimated output cross the threshold, and in this zone, estimated parameters are transferred to the multiple faults classifier for fault isolation. From the computer simulation results, it is verified that when the proposed diagnosis algorithm is performed successfully, it detects and isolates faults in the position control system of a DC motor.

Broken rotor bars in induction motors can be detected by monitoring any abnormality of the spectrum amplitudes at certain frequencies in the motor current spectrum. Broken rotor bar fault detection schemes should rely on multiple signatures in order to overcome or reduce the effect of any misinterpretation of the signatures that are obscured by factors such as measurement noises and different load conditions. Multiple Discriminant Analysis (MDA) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) provide appropriate environments to develop such fault detection schemes because of their multi-input processing capabilities. This paper describes two fault detection schemes for broken rotor bar fault detection with multiple signature processing, and demonstrates that multiple signature processing is more efficient than single signature processing.
This paper proposes multiple RLS and actuator performance index-based adaptive actuator fault-tolerant control and detection algorithms for longitudinal autonomous driving. The proposed algorithm computes the desired acceleration using feedback law for longitudinal autonomous driving. When actuator fault or performance degradation exists, it is designed that the desired acceleration is adjusted with the calculated feedback gains based on multiple RLS and gradient descent method for fault-tolerant control. In order to define the performance index, the error between the desired and actual accelerations is used. The window-based weighted error standard deviation is computed with the design parameters. Fault level decision algorithm that can represent three fault levels such as normal, warning, emergency levels is proposed in this study. Performance evaluation under various driving scenarios with actuator fault was conducted based on co-simulation of Matlab/Simulink and commercial software (CarMaker).

This paper describes fault diagnosis method in complex system with hierachical structure similar to human body structure. Complex system is divided into unit, item and component. For diagnosing this hierarchical complex system, it is necessary to implement special neural network. Fault diagnosis system can forecast faults in a system and decide from current machine state signal information. Comparing with other diagnosis system for single fault, the developed system deals with multiple fault diagnosis comprising Hierarchical Neural Network(HNN). HNN consists of four level neural network, first level for item fault symptom classification, second level for item fault diagnosis, third level for component symptom classification, forth level for component fault diagnosis. UNIX IPC(Inter Process Communication) is used for implementing HNN wiht multitasking and message transfer between processes in SUN workstation with X-Windows(Motif). We tested HNN at four units, seven items per unit, seven components per item in a complex system. Each one neural newtork operate as a separate process in HNN. The message queue take charge of information exdhange and cooperation between each neural network.
A rapid growth of internet and sudden increase of multimedia data demands for high-speed transfer media and if optimizec usage from the interface system. To achieve this level of network bandwidth, multiple NICs for support of high-speed network bandwidth have been developed and studied. Furthermore, the use of multiple NICs can provide high-speed LAN environment without large network environment modification, supports backward compatibility of current system and reduce overhead. However. if system failure is caused by SPOF(Single Point of Failure) fault of large-capacity multiple NICs, incredible loss will be met because it services large capacity of multimedia data, Therefore, to prevent loss coming from faults, we describe 'Fault tolerance of multiple NICs', which use the fault prevention mechanism. Considering inefficiency of availability and serviceability that is occurred with existing TMR, Primary-Standby approach and Watchdog time mechanism, we propose and design the efficient fault tolerance mechanism, which minimize down time as changing of detection period dynamically. Consequently, the fault tolerance mechanism proposed for reducing overhead time when the fault is occurred, should minimize system downtime overall.

The Park's vector of stator current is a popular technique for the detection of induction motor faults. While the detection of the faulty condition using the Park's vector technique is easy, the classification of different types of faults is intricate. This problem is overcome by the Multiple Park's Vector (MPV) approach proposed in this paper. In this technique, the characteristic fault frequency component (CFFC) of stator winding faults, rotor winding faults, unbalanced voltage and bearing faults are extracted from three phase stator currents. Due to constructional asymmetry, under the healthy condition these characteristic fault frequency components are unbalanced. In order to balanced them, a correction factor is added to the characteristic fault frequency components of three phase stator currents. Therefore, the Park's vector pattern under the healthy condition is circular in shape. This pattern is considered as a reference pattern under the healthy condition. According to the fault condition, the amplitude and phase of characteristic faults frequency components changes. Thus, the pattern of the Park's vector changes. By monitoring the variation in multiple Park's vector patterns, the type of fault and its severity level is identified. In the proposed technique, the diagnosis of faults is immune to the effects of unbalanced voltage and multiple faults. This technique is verified on a 7.5 hp three phase wound rotor induction motor (WRIM). The experimental analysis is verified by simulation results.
In this paper, an integrated design of fault detection, diagnosis and reconfigurable control tot multi-input and multi-output system is proposed. It is based on the interacting multiple model estimation algorithm, which is one of the most cost-effective adaptive estimation techniques for systems involving structural and/or parametric changes. This research focuses on the method to recover the performance of a system with failed actuators by switching plant models and controllers appropriately. The proposed scheme is applied to a fault tolerant control design for flight control system.

This study suggests the hybrid fault diagnosis method of signed digraph (SDG) and partial least squares (PLS). SDG offers a simple and graphical representation for the causal relationships between process variables. The proposed method is based on SDG to utilize the advantage that the model building needs less information than other methods and can be performed automatically. PLS model is built on local cause-effect relationships of each variable in SDG. In addition to the current values of cause variables, the past values of cause and effect variables are inputted to PLS model to represent the Process armies. The measured value and predicted one by dynamic PLS are compared to diagnose the fault. The diagnosis example of CSTR shows the proposed method improves diagnosis resolution and facilitates diagnosis of masked multiple-fault.
