Recent progress on CT such as multi-detector row CT, oral contrast agents and multiplanar reconstruction have markedly improved the image quality as well as diagnostic performance of gastric cancer. Multiplanar reformatted images at predetermined orientations can be easily performed and embedded into routine CT protocol without increasing medical expense or labor. Currently, many institutions have adopted routine multiplanar reformatted protocols and therefore knowledge on them can improve the diagnostic accuracy of gastric cancer.
The development of digital image technology has realized high definition throughout the image industry including film and broadcasting. Such high definition images are used in various media and forms through convergence with innovative displays. The analog image production mode is combined with image content production using digital technology. The purpose of this research is to present a method to reconstitute high definition multiplanar images on the wider and bigger screen by applying the Cinerama system, one of the analog image systems in the past, to digital technology.
Digital broadcast environment led to the emergence of UHDTV following HDTV. The demands for realistic images which are created with the use of UHDTV have been applied to various fields. Of various application methods, multiplanar imaging, which is used to display high definition image contents after multiple HD or UHD displays are connected with each other up and down, and left and right, is often applied to display images and the advertising market. Today, the firms that make high-definition multiplanar images mostly use their independently developed program. Therefore, it costs higher than other general works. For the reason, multiplanar image contents are mostly made in the way of enlarging HD images over 2 to 5 times. In this experiment, the software application widely known for UHDTV based multiplanar images is applied to test a method of implementing UHD panoramic realistic images without quality degradation.

Objective: This study examined cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-derived multiplanar-reconstructed (MPR) cross-sections to clarify the salient characteristics of patients with skeletal class III malocclusion with midface deficiency (MD). Methods: The horizontal and sagittal plane intersection points were identified for middle-third facial analysis in 40 patients in the MD or normal (N) groups. MPR images acquired parallel to each horizontal plane were used for length and angular measurements. Results: A comparison of the MD and N groups revealed significant differences in the zygoma prominence among female patients. The convex zygomatic area in the N group was larger than that in the MD group, and the inferior part of the midface in the N group was smaller than that in the MD group for both male and female patients. A significant difference was observed in the concave middle maxillary area among male patients. Conclusions: This study was conducted to demonstrate the difference between MD and normal face through MPR images derived from CBCT. Male patients in the MD group had a more flattened face than did those in the N group. Female patients in the MD group showed a concave-shaped lower section of the zygoma, which tended to have more severe MD. These findings indicate that orthognathic surgery to improve skeletal discrepancy requires different approaches in male and female patients.

Multiplanar image video has been used in various fields advertising, exhibitions, and PR. But the content is applied therein, image synthesis, and graphics in most cases. That for taking pictures become a stock video exactly not only very difficult, to complement work in the second half of the problems of the shooting stage is difficult. Therefore, in this study, and then grasp the problems later work with imaging and attempts to validate the experiment improvements. As the study specific method, it is intended to advance the experiments for determining the distance to minimize the distortion generated at the edges of the image varies with the distance between cameras. It is intended to contribute to the creation of the content of the image-based, which can be utilized more effectively excellence media of the video if to build on this.
To demonstrate the 3D usefulness of MDCT, a 73-year-old male patient with subclavian thrombosis was obtained 3D images of maximum intensity projection (MIP), volume rendering, and multiplanar reformation (MPR) to clearly detect and locate the subclavian artery. The data will be provided to the patient for diagnosis and treatment. The scan data were acquired as 3D CT images MIP, volume rendering, curved MPR, and virtual endoscopy images. In the 3D program, the ascending aorta was measured as 364.28 HU, the left carotid artery was 413.77 HU, and the left subclavian artery was 15.72 HU. MIP coronal image shows the closure of the subclavian artery in the left side. Three-dimensional volume images were obtained with 100% permeability and 87-1265 HU. The coronal curved MPR and sagittal curved MPR images show the closure of the subclavian artery due to thrombus using 3D image processing. In the case of subclavian arterial occlusion due to thrombosis, the patient is scanned with MDCT and 3D image processing can be used to confirm occlusion of subclavian artery.
Purpose: To evaluate the precision of measurements taken of dental implants in bucco-lingually sectioned views of the maxilla by linear tomograms of the panorama and to assess the visibility of the inferior wall of the maxillary sinus. Materials and Methods : Eighty sites prepared with implants of gutta percha cone in the sockets of the upper premolars and molars of 10 dry skulls were radiographically examined using linear tomograms of panorama, and scanned coronally and axially by computed tomography. The differences in mm between the measurements in bucco-lingually sectioned images of maxillary alveolar bone and the true length and width of the implanted gutta percha cones were compared as mean values (mean) and standard deviations (SD) for each radiographic technique. Linear tomography of panorama was compared with computed tomography for visualization of the relationship between the inferior wall of maxillary sinus and the end of each implant. Results: The deviations between the actual implant length and the measured values taken from the linear tomograms (0.44±0.39 mm) was significantly less than the measured values from the multiplanar reconstructed images of the axially scanned computed tomogram (1.21 ± 0.90 mm). There was statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between two techniques in the differences between the measurements and true implant length. The relationship of the inferior border of maxillary sinus with end of implant was worse identified with the linear tomogram of panorama (68%) than the multiplanar reconstructed image of axially scanned computed tomogram (99%). Conclusion: We could not find any differences in the accuracy of length measurement between the linear tomogram of panorama and computed tomogram, but computed tomogram allowed for a better visualization of the inferior wall of the maxillary sinus than the linear tomogram.
Purpose: To compare the measurements of the mandible and the detectability of the mandibular canal on reformatted images using a newly developed 3-dimensional implant simulation program with traditionally used CT multiplanar reconstruction program and true measurements. Materials and Methods: Ten dry dog mandibles were used in this study. Occlusal templates for CT examination were fabricated and marked with gutta perch a at ten sites. Axial CT scans were taken and reconstructed using DentaScan (D group) and Vimplant program (V group), and each mandible was sectioned at the previously marked sites (R group). Maximum vertical height (H) and maximum width (W) of the mandible, the distances from buccal border of the mandibular canal to the most buccal aspect of the mandible (X), and the distance from the superior border of the mandibular canal to the alveolar crest (Y) were measured, and the mandibular measurements in each group were compared. Detectability of mandibular canal was evaluated using a 3-point scale in both V and D groups by three oral radiologists and compared. Results: H in the V group was slightly greater than that in the D group, and Wand X in the V group was slightly less than those in the D group. H in the V group was less than that in the R group, and Wand X in the V group was larger than those in the R group. The detectability of the mandibular canal did not show statistically significant differences between V and D groups. Conclusion: The results of the experiment show that the newly developed, inexpensive Vimplant/TM/ simulation program can be used as an alternative to the traditionally used, and more expensive CT multiplanar reconstruction program.

Magnetic resonance imaging with its superior soft tissue contrast resolution and absence of beam hardening artifacts, combined with its ability to perform multiplanar imaging, is now effective tool in diagnostic imagings. Magnetic resonance is primarily a phenomenon that involves atomic nuclei. It provides totally new clinical informations with no known hazards through the use of very weak interactions with endogenous stable magnetic atomic nuclei. This article briefly summarizes the basic mechanism of generation and detection of the signals and general sorts of tissue properties which can influence the signals and thereby give rise to tissue contrast. It also describes how the machine-operating parameters can be used to manipulate the tissue contrast observed in the image.
