A Study on the Implementation of the System of Content-based Retrieval of Music Data (내용 기반 음원 검출 시스템 구현에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, we can hear various kinds of music in everywhere and anytime. If a user wants to find the music which was heard before in a street or cafe, but he does not know the title of the music, it is difficult to find it. That is the limitation of previous retrieval system of music data. To overcome these problems, we research a method of content-based retrieval of music data based on the recorded humming, the part of recorded music and the played musical instrument. In this paper, we investigated previous content-based retrieval methods of papers, systems and patents. Based on that, we research a method of content-based retrieval of music data. That is, in case of using the recorded humming and music for query, we extract the frequency information from the recorded humming/music and the stored music data by using FFT. We use a MIDI file in case of query by the played musical instrument. And by using dynamic programming matching, the error caused by the disparity of length between the input source with the stored music data could be reduced.

  • The user-centric broadcasting environment includes the agent system and personalized broadcasting services for user-adaptive TV watching. In this paper, we propose broadcasting environment consisting of personalized broadcasting services and a multi-agent broadcasting system for the services. The proposed system employs the intelligent agent technology of the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) as well as metadata technology of MPEG-7 and TV-Anytime Forum (TVAF). To verify the usefulness of the proposed environment, we implemented a test-bed and demonstrated the proposed agent system with three services including intelligent user-information management service, information mobility service, and content retrieval service.

  • Recently, due to the rapid development of multimedia technologies, as image data has been extensive and large-scaled, the problem of increasing the time needed to retrieve the desired image is gradually critical. Image retrieval system that allows users to quickly and accurately search for the desired image information has been researched for a long time. However, in the case of content-based image retrieval representative Color Histogram, Color Coherence Vectors (CCV), Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) used in sensitive to changes in brightness, rotation, there is a problem that can occur misrecognized division off the power. In this paper, in order to evaluate the video retrieval system proposed, no change in brightness, respectively 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° rotated brightness up based on the case of changing, when the brightness down the results were compared with the performance evaluation of the system is an average of about 2% to provide the difference in performance due to changes in brightness, color histogram is an average of about 12.5%, CCV is an average of about 12.25%, it appeared in the SIFT is an average of about 8.5%, Thus, the proposed system of the variation width of the smallest in average about 2%, was confirmed to be robust to changes in the brightness and rotation than the existing systems.

  • Video information is an important component of multimedia system such as Digital Library. World-Wide Web(WWW) and Video-On-Demand(VOD) service system. It can support various types of information because of including audio-visual, spatial-temporal and semantics information. In addition, it requires the ability of retrieving the specific scene of video instead of entire retrieval of video document. Therefore, so as to support a variety of retrieval, this paper models metadata using video document structure information that consists of hierarchical structure, and designs database schema that can manipulate video document.

  • The goal of this research is to develop a Remote Medical Examination System on Oriental Medicine on the very high sped information communication network. We developed a remote medical examination system based on the sample examination data of 10 patients and develop the information of search database based on contents. We analyzed the sample data and the requirements of patients, doctors, and nurses. By the analyzed result, we designed and constructed a prototype are as follow: the multimedia ORDBMS server system, network interface technology, internal/external database schema design, oriental medicine expert knowledge base design, inter-data search algorithm design and thesaurus.

  • In order to process video data effectively, it is required that the content information of video data is loaded in database and semantics-based retrieval method can be available for various queries of users. In this paper, we propose a video retrieval system which support semantics retrieval of various users for massive video data by user's keywords and comparison area learning based on automatic agent. By user's fundamental query and selection of image for key frame that extracted from query, the agent gives the detail shape for annotation of extracted key frame. Also, key frame selected by user becomes a query image and searches the most similar key frame through color histogram comparison and comparison area learning method that proposed. From experiment, the designed and implemented system showed high precision ratio in performance assessment more than 93 percents.

  • Windows provides Directshow for efficient multimedia streaming processings such as multimedia capture, storage, display and etc. Presently, many motion picture codecs and audio codecs are made to be used in Directshow framework and Windows also supports many codecs (MPEG4, H,263, WMV, WMA, ASF, etc.) in addition to a lot of useful tools for multimedia streaming processing. Therefore, Directshow can be effectively utilized for developing windows-based multimedia streaming applications such as visual monitoring systems which needs to store real-time video data for later retrieval. In this paper, we present our efforts for developing a Directshow Filter System supporting storage of motion pictures in various motion picture codecs. Our Directshow Filter system also provides an additional functionality of motion detection.

  • The web 2.0 is leading a rapid change of internet services. The UCC(User Created Contents) service is one of the representative internet services with web 2.0 paradigm. In this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system does not need to install ActiveX and client programs on devices of users to edit their contents. All processes for editing UCC are conducted on the server. Our proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia editing subsystem and the metadata management system. They provide the API to UCC service developers or vendors. The multimedia editing subsystem supports editing for image and video, and the streaming services of video. The metadata management subsystem supports the metadata management and retrieval of image and video.

  • With the popularity of digital audio contents, querying and retrieving audio contents efficiently from database has become essential. In this paper, we propose a new index scheme for retrieving audio contents efficiently using audio portions that have been queried frequently. This scheme is based on the observation that users have a tendency to memorize and query a small number of audio portions. Detecting and indexing such portions enables fast retrieval and shows better performance than sequential search-based audio retrieval. Moreover, this scheme is independent of underlying retrieval system, which means this scheme can work together with any other audio retrieval system. We have implemented a prototype system and showed its performance gain through experiments.
