본 논문에서 제안한 MPEG-4 기반 대화형 MOD 서버 시스템은 데이터 공유 네트워크(DSN)를 이용한 클러스터링 서버 구조를 채택하여 클러스터링과 가상서버시스템, 데이터 공유 네트워크 기법을 적용한 복합적 구조를 가진 서버시스템을 설계 구현하였다. 본 논문이 제안한 서버 시스템은 확장이 용이하고, 각 서버 노드가 이상이 발생할 경우 타 서버에 영향을 주지 않는 독립성이 확보돼 안정성이 향상되었다. 그러나 DSN 에서 사용되는 NFS나 Samba 등은 보안에 취약하며, 네트워크 전송에 따른 오버헤드의 보완이 필요하다.

Our platform introduced in this paper is based on DAVIC specifications which define high quality multimedia services with some extensions to provide user friendly and uniform interface to its users. We designed and implemented an integrated service platform for high quality interactive multimedia services, swithed digital broadcasting, and Internet services. The integration in terms of a service provider system, a delivery system, and a service user system is taken into account. Our research results in the development of integrated high quality interactive and digital broadcasting multimedia services with web-based common user interface and its experience will be feedback to the field trial service which will be launched from next year.

This study set out to investigate an energy harvesting device to ensure stable energy supply to batteries and data collection devices and a monitoring system for acer pictum sap to check collected data. Acer pictum sap farmers have written down weather information and yield of acer pictum sap manually for data storage. Since the job is done manually, there are many missing values in their data. In addition, it is not easy to manage batteries due to the characteristics of the areas where acer pictum sap is collected. The present study thus decided to build an energy harvesting device based on new renewable energy to ensure stable energy supply by taking into consideration power load, daily power consumption, and number of days with no sunshine for various devices. For a monitoring system, the investigator proposed a JSP-based web page to monitor temperature, humidity, volume of collected water, and battery state in real time. The proposed energy harvesting device was applied to reduce missing values in data. It promoted stable energy supply to the batteries and data collection devices, reducing the percentage of missing values in data from 30.55% to 0%.

SIP(Session Initiation Protocol)은 VoIP(Iroice over IP)와 같은 인터넷 멀티미디어 통신 시스템의 세션 제어 프로토콜로 제안되었으며 많은 표준안에서 채택하고 있다. SIP는 다양한 형태의 오디오와 비디오 형식과 품질이 보장된 실시간 데이터 전송을 지원하기 위해 복잡한 세션 제어 단계를 갖는다. 그러나 지금까지의 프로토콜 분석기는 SIP 기반 멀티미디어 통신 시스템에서 발생되는 트래픽을 상세하게 분석해주지 못하고 있다 이에 본 논문에서는 SIP 기반의 멀티미디어 통신 시스템의 세션 설정 단계에서 데이터 교환 및 세션 변경에 따른 세부 정보를 분석하고 진단할 수 있는 도구로 새로운 프로토콜 분석기를 설계하고 구현한다. 제안된 프로토콜 분석기는 STAT(SIP based Traffic Analysis Tool)이라고 부르며 범용성과 확장성이 있도록 PC Windows에서 사용 가능한 소프트웨어로 구현되었다. STAT는 이더넷의 특징인 동보 기능을 이용하여 저수준 패킷을 수집하여 분석함으로써 SIP 기반 통신 시스템에 직접적인 영향 없이 세션 연결 상태와 실시간 트래픽 모니터링 정보를 제공한다. 따라서 본 논문에서 구현한 STAT는 SIP 기반 멀티미디어 통신 시스템의 개발 및 관리 도구로 활용될 수 있다.

본 논문에서는 인터넷 상에서 멀티미디어 메일을 주고 받을 수 있게 하는 멀티 미디어 메일 시스템을 구현하였다. 이 메일 시스템은 기존의 텍스트 위주의 e-mail 시스템을 확정한 것으로 텍스트, 이미지,,MPEG 비디오 및 바이너리 데이터의 전송을 가능하게 한다. 멀티미디어 데이터를 표현하기 위해서 기존의 RFC-822 포맷을 확정한 MIME(Multipurpose Untemet Nail Extension)를 그대로 사용한다. 한편, 메이팍스 검색 프로토콜로는 현재 널리 사용되고 있는 POP(Post Office Pritocol)보다 기능이 우수한IMAP(Internet Mail Access Prltocol)을 사용한다. 메일클라이언트는 PC에 구현 하였고 메일 서버는 UNX 시스템에 구현하였다. 구현한 메일 시스템은 바이너리 파일의 추가 기능을 제공하며, 수신된 멀티미디어 메일을 검색하는 경우 수신 윈도우 내에서 포스트스크립트뷰어, MPEG 디코더 등의 응용프로그램과의 직접적인 인터페이스 기능을 제공하여 사용자가 다양한 형태의 메일 메시지를 듣고 볼 수 있게 한다.

MPEG-21은 디지털 객체를 정의하고 이를 네트워크상에서 생성, 변형, 전달, 소비를 위한 통합적 멀티미디어 프레임워크에 대한 국제 표준이다. 디지털 아이템(DI: Digital item)은 MPEG-21 프레임워크 내에서 표준화 된 식별체계, 서술 형식을 따르는 구조화된 디지털 객체이며, 유통, 처리의 최소 단위이다 본 논문에서는 이러한 디지털 아이템을 최종 소비하는 MPEG-21 터미널 구조를 제안하고 이에 대한 설계 및 구현, 그리고 실험 결과를 제시한다

MPEG-21은 사용자가 다양한 멀티미디어 데이터를 네트워크상에서 생성, 변형, 전달, 소비하기 위한 통합적 멀티미디어 프레임워크를 정의한 국제 표준이 다. MPEG-21 DIA(digital item adaptation)는 멀티 미디어 데이터를 사용자의 환경, 단말기 특성, 네트워크 특성에 대한 정보를 기술할 수 있는 표준을 정의하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 DIA에서 정의한 여러 가지 적응 변환 중 사용자의 관심 영역을 중심으로 한 의미론적 변환 엔진을 구현하였으며, 이에 대한 실험결과를 제시한다 기존의 변환 방법이 비디오 프레임의 전체 크기, 해상도 화질을 조정하였다면, 의미론적 변환은 사용자의 관심 영역을 중심으로 변환을 수행함으로써, 사용자의 관심도를 반영할 수 있는 장점이 있다.

Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDNs) and Broadband ISDN provide high speed data transmission capabilities and therefore, it is now possible to communicate with multimedia information including graphic, motion image, data and audio. Among several new services utilizing multimedia communication networks, distance education service which aims to overcome time and space restrictions between teachers and learners is now heavily focused in many countries. In this paper, several factors which affect to the effectiveness of distance education are surveyed and facilities for organizing distance education classrooms which utilize high speed multimedia communication network are studied in detail. Also, some points are suggested for organizing successful distance equation system based on the multimedia communication technology.

본 논문에서는 ATM환경하에서 다양한 멀티미디어 통신 서비스를 통합 제공할 수 있는 단말 시스템의 한가지 구조를 제안하고, 그에 따라, 프로토입으로 개발된 멀티미디어 통신 서비스 단말의 기능 및 시스템 구조를 소개하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 단말의 형상은 관련 국제 표준안에 근거하여, 멀티미디어 단말 구현상의 기술적 어려움과 각 서비스별 미디어 품질 요구 사항 등을 고려하였으므로, 서로 다른 통신망 환경과 단말 환경에서 최대한의 상호 호환성을 보장하면서, 저렴하고 효율적인 단말기를 구현하는 한가지 해결책으로 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 소개하는 멀티미디어 통신 단말은 재안된 단말 시스템 참조 모델(Reference Model)에 따라, 다양한 멀티미디어 통신 서비스를 통합 제공할 수 있도록 설계되었으며, B-ISDN 시대의 궁극작년형상이 될 수는 없겠으나, 현재의 기술로 구현할 수 있는 가장 효율적인 단말이 될것이다.
