Nowadays, the issue of solar cell durability in local weather and environment is a crucial issue. Above all, surface corrosion on solar cell multilayers is a major factor that determines the durability of commercial solar cells; corrosive chemical interactions between air, humidity and chemical species and solar cell multilayers can unfavorably affect the durability. Here, we study microscopic and spectroscopic surface techniques to investigate the corrosive interaction on the antireflective layers of solar cell multilayers under various conditions such as acid, base, constant temperature and humidity. Surface morphology and adhesion force were characterized with atomic force microscopy before and after chemical treatment. Chemical composition, and transmittance factors were studied with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, respectively. Based on these studies, we suggest the dominant factors in the corrosive chemical processes, and their influences on the structural, compositional, and optical properties of the antireflective layers.
We have investigated the magnetic properties of electroplated thin Cu/Co multilayers by using electrolytes made of copper sulphate and cobalt sulphate and by applying alternating plating voltage. While the multilayers plated with pure electrolyte showed superparamagnetism, those plated with organic additives showed ferromagnetic behavior. These changes are attributed to the so-called 'self-annealing' effect and reduction of grain size caused by the organic additives.

In present study, poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and hydrophobically modified poly(ethylene oxide) (HM-PEO) multilayers based on the hydrogen bonding between the component polymer pair have been prepared by the LbL deposition method. Dip assembled HM-PEO/PAA multilayers yield unique film morphologies in comparison with PEO/PAA multilayers due to the micellar formation of HM-PEO owing to the hydrophobic attraction between alkyl chains end-capped with the PEO chains. Individual HM-PEO micelles were connected through the bridging PEO chains to form temporary networks on multilayer surface and induced peculiar surface morphology on HM-PEO/PAA multilayers above the critical number of bilayers.

In this paper, we show an optimal structure of impedance control in high density layouts ina high multilayers PCB. The impedance control in a high multilayers FR-4 PCB is very portant isue because a dielectric layer's thickness is very thin. Especially, odd mode impedance control is more difficult than characteristic impedance control in high multilayers PCB. So, we show an optimal structure of odd mode impedance control in that dielectric thickness is about 0.1mm with limited state and discuss multilayers PCB's for swich circuti pack and backplane in developing algorith scale ATM witching system in next time.
Co/Cu GMR multilayers were electrodeposited from various electrolytes using the dual bath technique to achieve high sensitive GMR multilayers. GMR ratio and sensitivity were strongly influenced by solution compositions and electrodeposition parameters where GMR and sensitivity of 12% and 0.052%/Oe were achieved from pyrophosphate baths. The effect of plating conditions on properties of Co/Cu multilayers may be attributed to crystallinity and grain size of deposits, and the ability of plating solutions to deposit contiguous films at lower nano thicknesses.

By periodically varying the current density and etching time during anodic oxidation of crustalline silicon wafers in 15% HF-ethanol solution, we obtained porous silicon multilayers which have periodically varying refractive index. We fabricated the porous silicon microcavity (PSM) which consist of porous silicon multilayers (I), active layer of porous silicon, and porous silicon multilayers (II) and investigated its physical properties. The AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) measurement from the cross section of multilayers (I and II) shows uniformity of high refractive index and low index layers as well as the active layer. We observed the characteristics of Bragg reflector when the thickness of layers was 1/4 and the thickness of active layer was twice of the effective wavelength, which can be used as a filter for specific wavelength. We found the emission characteristic from the PSM, which FWHM (full width half maximum) was considerably decreased and emission intensity was increased.
Structural, magnetic and magnetoresistance behavior of NiFe/Ag multilayers prepared by a magnetron sputter under an Ar and $Ar/H_2$ atmosphere was studied. It was difficult to make a uniform multilayer by using an Ar atmosphere. However, the uniform multilayers could be fabricated by using an $Ar/H_2$ atmosphere. This was thought to be due to decrease in the energy of the sputtered atom and Ar content of the film. Typical magnetoresistance behavior of the discontinuous NiFe/Ag multilayers appeared when the uniform multilayer was formed and annealed. Substrate temperature did not improve the uniformity of the multilayers. Above 20$0^{\circ}C$ of the substrate temperature, the films were almost formed into granular alloys rather than multilayers.
The longitudinal magnetooptical Kerr effect was used to analyse magnetic domains in soft magnetic ${(Fe_{97}A1_3)}_{85}N_{15}$/$Al_{2}O_{3}$ multilayers in order to get microscopic understanding of interlayer exchange coupling. The measuring system consists of a Kerr microscope, a CCIR camera (with an 8-bit framegrabber), 16 bit digital camera and computer system for real-time image processing and to control external magnetic field and cameras. The strength of ferromagnetic (EM) coupling as a function of the spacer thickness of $Al_2O_3$ was investigated. It was found that strong FM-coupling, strong uniaxial anisotropy and coherent rotation of the magnetization have been observed for the spacer thickness in the range of 0.2 nm $\leq$ t $\leq$ 1 m, however, weak FM-coupling, patch domains and $360^{\circ}$-walls occur for the spacer thickness of t = 2.5 nm. At a spacer thickness of t $\geq$ 5 nm transition takes place from weak FM-coupling to the decoupled state where complex interlayer interactions and different types of the domain walls were observed.

We demonstrate a facile and robust layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly method for the fabrication of nonvolatile resistive switching memory (NRSM) devices based on superparamagnetic nanocomposite multilayers, which allows the highly enhanced magnetic and resistive switching memory properties as well as the dense and homogeneous adsorption of nanoparticles, via nucleophilic substitution reaction (NSR) in nonpolar solvent. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MP) of about size 12 nm (or 7 nm) synthesized with oleic acid (OA) in nonpolar solvent could be converted into 2-bromo-2-methylpropionic acid (BMPA)-stabilized iron oxide nanoparticles (BMPA-MP) by stabilizer exchange without change of solvent polarity. In addition, bromo groups of BMPA-MP could be connected with highly branched amine groups of poly (amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMA) in ethanol by NSR of between bromo and amine groups. Based on these results, nanocomposite multilayers using LbL assembly could be fabricated in nonpolar solvent by NSR of between BMPA-MP and PAMA without any additional phase transfer of MP for conventional LbL assembly. These resulting superparamagnetic multilayers displayed highly improved magnetic and resistive switching memory properties in comparison with those of multilayers based on water-dispersible MP. Furthermore, NRSM devices, which were fabricated by LbL assembly method under atmospheric conditions, exhibited the outstanding performances such as long-term stability, fast switching speed and high ON/OFF ratio comparable to that of conventional inorganic NRSM devices produced by vacuum deposition.
In this study, two types of catalysts were prepared via conventional metal supporting method and encapsulation of metal nanoparticles in the polyelectrolyte multilayers constructed on support. The resulting catalysts were applied to the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide, and the effect of catalyst preparation method on the catalyst life as well as hydrogen peroxide productivity was investigated. The catalytic activity was strongly dependent upon the acid strength of support regardless of the catalyst preparation methods and HBEA (SAR=25) with strong acidity was superior to other supports to promote the reaction. In the case of metal supported catalyst, while hydrogen peroxide productivity was higher than that of polyelectrolyte multilayered counterpart, the reaction performance was sharply decreased during catalyst recycling due to the metal leaching. On the other hand, construction of polyelectrolyte multilayers on support weakened the influence of acid support on the reaction medium and therefore resulted in the decrease of catalytic activity and the increase of hydrogen peroxide decomposition as well. It is noted, however, that the catalytic activity was maintained after 5 recycles, which suggests that the introduction of polyelectrolyte multilayers on the support is very effective to suppress the unfavorable metal leaching phenomenon during a reaction.
