Fault Management in Crossbar ATM Switches (크로스바 ATM 스위치에서의 장애 관리)

  • The multichannel switch is an architecture widely used for ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). It is known that the fault tolerant characteristic can be incorporated into the multichannel crossbar switching fabric. For example, if a link belonging to a multichannel group fails, the remaining links can assume responsibility for some of the traffic on the failed link. On the other hand, if a fault occurs in a switching element, it can lead to erroneous routing and sequencing in the multichannel switch. We investigate several fault localization algorithm in multichannel crossbar ATM switches with a view to early fault recovery. The optimal algorithm gives the best performance in terms of time to localization but it is computationally complex which makes it difficult to implement. We develop an on-line algorithm which is computationally more efficient than the optimal one. We evaluate its performance through simulation. The simulation results show that the Performance of the on-line algorithm is only slightly sub-optimal for both random and bursty traffic. There are cases where the proposed on-line algorithm cannot pinpoint down to a single fault. We enumerate those cases and investigate the causes. Finally, a fault recovery algorithm is described which utilizes the information provided by the fault localization algorithm The fault recovery algorithm providesadditionalrowsandcolumnstoallowcellstodetourthefaultyelement.

Proof-of-principle Experimental Study of the CMA-ES Phase-control Algorithm Implemented in a Multichannel Coherent-beam-combining System (다채널 결맞음 빔결합 시스템에서 CMA-ES 위상 제어 알고리즘 구현에 관한 원리증명 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the feasibility of using the covariance-matrix-adaptation-evolution-strategy (CMA-ES) algorithm in a multichannel coherent-beam-combining (CBC) system was experimentally verified. We constructed a multichannel CBC system utilizing a spatial light modulator (SLM) as a multichannel phase-modulator array, along with a coherent light source at 635 nm, implemented the stochastic-parallel-gradient-descent (SPGD) and CMA-ES algorithms on it, and compared their performances. In particular, we evaluated the characteristics of the CMA-ES and SPGD algorithms in the CBC system in both 16-channel rectangular and 19-channel honeycomb formats. The results of the evaluation showed that the performances of the two algorithms were similar on average, under the given conditions; However, it was verified that under the given conditions the CMA-ES algorithm was able to operate with more stable performance than the SPGD algorithm, as the former had less operational variation with the initial phase setting than the latter. It is emphasized that this study is the first proof-of-principle demonstration of the CMA-ES phase-control algorithm in a multichannel CBC system, to the best of our knowledge, and is expected to be useful for future experimental studies of the effects of additional channel-number increments, or external-phase-noise effects, in multichannel CBC systems based on the CMA-ES phase-control algorithm.

  • A new normalized MBD algorithm is presented for nonstationary convolutive mixtures and its properties/modifications are discussed in details. The proposed algorithm normalizes the signal spectrum in the frequency domain to provide faster stable convergence and improved separation without whitening effect. Modifications such as nonholonomic constraints and off-diagonal learning to the proposed algorithm are also discussed. Simulation results using a real-world recording confirm superior performanceof the proposed algorithm and its usefulness in real world applications.

  • This paper presents a real time FECG signal monitoring system in which an adaptive multichannel noise canceller is implemented using a Texas Instruments TMS32020 digital signal processor. Abdominal ECG signal is applied as the desired output and 3 chest ECG signals as the reference input signals of the adaptive multichannel noise canceller whose coefficients are updated using the LMS algorithms.

  • In this paper, we present our experiences in designing and implementing a CX23880 based multichannel video/audio capture device. We try to clarify differences between CX2388x family and 878A, the previous version of Cx2388x, and what one needs to be careful about in developing device drivers for CX2388x based video/audio devices. Our work is expected to help one who will need to develop Cx2388x based video/audio device later.

A Frequency-Domain Normalized MBD Algorithm with Unidirectional Filters for Blind Speech Separation

  • A new multichannel blind deconvolution algorithm is proposed for speech mixtures. It employs unidirectional filters and normalization of gradient terms in the frequency domain. The proposed algorithm is shown to be approximately nonholonomic. Thus it provides improved convergence and separation performances without whitening effect for nonstationary sources such as speech and audio signals. Simulations using real world recordings confirm superior performances over existing algorithms and its usefulness for real applications.

  • In adaptive antenna, several models are known according to a prior knowledge about jammer signal. Among those, Frost model with contraint is generally used however it has the problem that convergence speed is slow and that stability is not good. To improve such problems, this paper proposes constrained NLMS algorithm using LS method. In addition, the result obtained by applying this algorithm to Duvall antenna model is compared with that of Frost model.

  • The multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) is reformulated into the form of the configuration mixing (CM) method using the geometrical construction of the S matrix developed for the system involving two open and one closed channels. The reformulation is done by the phase renormalization method of Giusti-Suzor and Fano. The rather unconventional short-range reactance matrix K whose diagonal elements are not zero is obtained though the Lu-Fano plot becomes symmetrical. The reformulation of MQDT yields the partial cross section formulas analogous to Fano's resonance formula, which has not easily been available in other's work.

  • In this paper, time-frequency analysis algorithms, empirical mode decomposition and local mean decomposition, are reviewed and their applications to nonlinear and nonstationary real-world data are discussed. In addition, their generic extensions to complex domain are addressed for the analysis of multichannel data. Simulations of these algorithms on synthetic data illustrate the fundamental structure of the algorithms and how they are designed for the analysis of nonlinear and nonstationary data. Applications of the complex version of the algorithms to the synthetic data also demonstrate the benefit of the algorithms for the accurate frequency decomposition of multichannel data.

  • 본 고에서는 ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Lines) 서비스를 DMT(Digital Multichannel Transmitter) 시스템 모델에 관하여 고찰한다. CSA(Carrier Service Area) 구역에서 6Mb/s급의 다중반송파변조방식(multi-carrier modulation)을 전송방식으로 하는 ADSL-3급 서비스가 가능한 가입자 루프 및 전송신호 특성을 고려한 설계 요구 조건을 살펴보고, 이를 만족하는 DMT ADSL 시스템 모델, 등화기 구조 및 DMT ADSL시스템의 성능예측방법을 고찰함으로써 보다 나은 성능의 ADSL시스템 구현을 위한 설계방향을 제시하고자 한다.
