Carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH) have been used as efficient adsorbents for the removal of picric acid from aqueous solutions under stirring and ultrasound conditions. Batch experiments were conducted to study the influence of the different parameters such as pH, amount of adsorbents, contact time and concentration of picric acid on the adsorption process. The kinetic data were fitted with pseudo-first order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models. The kinetic studies were well described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model for both methods. In addition, the adsorption isotherms of picric acid from aqueous solutions on the MWCNTs were investigated using six two-parameter models (Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin, Halsey, Harkins-Jura, Fowler-Guggenheim), four three-parameter models (Redlich-Peterson, Khan, Radke-Prausnitz, and Toth), two four-parameter equations (Fritz-Schlunder and Baudu) and one five-parameter equation (Fritz-Schlunder). Three error analysis methods, correlation coefficient, chi-square test and average relative errors, were applied to determine the best fit isotherm. The error analysis showed that the models with more than two parameters better described the picric acid sorption data compared to the two-parameter models. In particular, the Baudu equation provided the best model for the picric acid sorption data for both methods.

Since the first obserbvation of carbon nanotubes, extensive researches have been done for the synthesis using arc discharge, laser vaporization, and plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Carbon nanotubes have unique physical and chemical properties and can allow nanoscale devices. Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes with high quality on a large area is particularly important to enable both fundamental studies and applications, such as flat panel displays and vacuum microelectronics. we have grown vertically aligned carbon nanotubes on a large area of Si substrates by thermal chemical vapor deposition using C2H2 gas at 750-950$^{\circ}C$. we deposited catalytic metal on Si susbstrate using thermal evaporation. The nanotubes reveal highly purified surface. The carbon nanotubes have multi-wall structure with a hollow inside and it reveals bamboo structure agreed with base growth model. Figure 1 shows SEM micrograph showing vertically aligned carbon nanotubes whih were grown at 950$^{\circ}C$ on a large area (20mm${\times}$30mm) of Si substrates. Figure 2 shows TEM analysis was performed on the carbon nanotubes grown at 950$^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. The carbon nanotubes are multi-wall structure with bamboo shape and the lack of fringes inside the nanotube indicates that the core of the structure is hollow. In our experiment, carbon nanotubes grown by the thermal CVD indicate base growth model.
A composite electrode made of iron oxide nanoparticles/multi-wall carbon nanotube (iNPs/M) delivers high specific capacity and cycle durability. At a rate of $200mAg^{-1}$, the electrode shows a high discharge capacity of ${\sim}664mAhg^{-1}$ after 100 cycles, which is ~ 70% of the theoretical capacity of $Fe_3O_4$. Carbon black, carbon nanotube, and graphene as anode materials have been explored to improve the electrical conductivity and cycle stability in Li ion batteries. Herein, iron oxide nanoparticles on acid treated MWCNTs as a conductive platform are combined to enhance the drawbacks of $Fe_3O_4$ such as low electrical conductivity and volume expansion during the alloying/dealloying process. Enhanced performance was achieved due to a synergistic effect between electrically 3D networks of conductive MWCNTs and the high Li ion storage ability of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles (iNPs).

Multi- wall carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) were synthesized by thermal chemical vapor deposition. The paste for screen printing was composed of MWNTs, organic vehicle and glass frit. Carton nanotube paste was screen-printed on ITO(indium tin oxide) deposited soda lim을 glass, and then heat treatment was performed. Before the surface treatment, turn on field of derive was 2.6 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$. After the surface treatment, the value was changed into 1.8 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$. The anode current of the derive with 2.83 V/$\mu\textrm{m}$(turn on field) was changed 4 $\mu\textrm{A}$ into 390 $\mu\textrm{A}$ at 1,700 V. Adsorption effect of MWNTs onto phosphor of anode plate was observed by the field emission measurement and resulted in bad effects on properties of devices lifetime and emission lighting.
We report on the fabrication and field emission of carbon nanotube field emitters for mass spectrometer. Due to its high aspect ratio and mechanical strength, we use vertically aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes prepared by thermal chemical vapour deposition as cathodes, Electrons emitted from a CNT are to ionize some sample molecules. We have successfully attained patterned carbon nanotubes grown on two-dimensional 0.7 mm by 0.7 mm Ni square blocks on Si. The emission characteristics show that the field emission initiates at 200 V.
The attachment of 2-aminobenzamide to carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-COOH was achieved through the formation of amide bonds. Then, the functionalized MWCNTs, MWCNT-amide, were treated by phosphoryl chloride to produce MWCNT-quin. The products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetric, steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy, and solubility testing. MWCNT-quin showed photo-electronic properties, which is due to the attachment of the 4-hydroxyquinazoline groups to them as proved by steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy. This suggests intramolecular interactions between the tubes and the attached 4-hydroxyquinazoline. The toxicity of the samples was evaluated in human embryonic kidney HEK293 and human breast cancer SKBR3 cell lines, and the viable cell numbers were measured by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) after the cells were cultured for 24 h. Cellular investigations showed that the modified MWCNTs, particularly MWCNT-quin, have considerably significant toxic impact on SKBR3 as compared to HEK293 at the concentration of 5 µg/mL.
MWCNT(multi-wall carbon nanotube)-doped PEDOT:PSS(poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)), used as a HIL(hole injection layer) material in OLEDs(organic light emitting diodes), was spin-coated on to the ITO glass to form PEDOT:PSS-MWCNT nano composite thin film. Morphology and transparency characteristics of nano composite thin films with respect to the loading percent of MWCNT have been investigated using FT-IR, UV-Vis and SEM. Furthermore, ITO/PEDOT:PSS-MWCNT/NPD/$Alq_3$/Al devices were fabricated, and then J-V and L-V characteristics were investigated. Functional group-incorporated MWCNT was prepared by acid treatment and showed good dispersion property in PEDOT:PSS solution. PEDOT:PSS-MWCNT thin films possessed good transparency property. For multi-layered devices, it was shown that as the loading percent of MWCNT increased, the current density increased but the luminance dramatically decreased. It might be conclusively suggested that the enhanced charge mobility by MWCNT could increase the current density but the hole trapping property of MWCNT could dramatically decrease the hole mobility in the current devices.
Based on the Reissner mixed variational theorem (RMVT), the authors present a nonlocal Timoshenko beam theory (TBT) for the nonlinear free vibration analysis of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) embedded in an elastic medium. In this formulation, four different edge conditions of the embedded MWCNT are considered, two different models with regard to the van der Waals interaction between each pair of walls constituting the MWCNT are considered, and the interaction between the MWCNT and its surrounding medium is simulated using the Pasternak-type foundation. The motion equations of an individual wall and the associated boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton's principle, in which the von $K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ geometrical nonlinearity is considered. Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory is used to account for the effects of the small length scale. Variations of the lowest frequency parameters with the maximum modal deflection of the embedded MWCNT are obtained using the differential quadrature method in conjunction with a direct iterative approach.
Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) with pores of various diameter, density, and thickness values was obtained through control of the anodization parameters including voltage, temperature, pore widening time, anodization time, etc. The pore diameter was controlled by a pore widening in an etchant, and alumina templates having stepped nano-channels were fabricated by repetition of anodization and pore widening processes. Stepped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were then grown on the stepped AAO templates by pyrolysis of acetylene without using the catalyst. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy images revealed that CNTs have a multi-wall structure made of graphite flakes of several nm sizes. The current-voltage characteristic of the sloped and linear CNTs were also examined.
This study compared and evaluated the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymer (CFRTP) mixed with nanofillers. After mixing various nanofillers such as Multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT), Silicon oxide, Core shell rubber, and Aramid nanofiber with Polyamide 6 (PA6) resin, this is used as a matrix to create a carbon fiber reinforced composite material (CFRP) was manufactured and its physical properties were measured. Depending on the type and mixing ratio of nanofiller, tensile strength, inter-laminar shear strength (ILSS), and Izod impact strength were measured. In terms of tensile strength and impact strength, the highest values were obtained when mixing core shell rubber, however the ILSS was optimal when mixing less than 1 wt.% of silicon oxide.
