In this study, we propose a low voltage stress and cost-effective light emitting diode (LED) driver capable of multi-channel current balancing. Conventional LED drivers require as many boost converters as the number of LED channels, whereas the proposed LED driver requires only one buck converter and several balancing capacitors instead of several expensive boost converters. Additionally, while the components of the boost converter have high voltage stress and depend on the LED driving voltage, components of the proposed driver have about one-half of the voltage stress across all components. The proposed driver exhibits high reliability and cost effectiveness because it only uses few DC blocking capacitors with no additional active devices to balance the current of multi-channel LEDs. The proposed driver exhibits high reliability and cost effectiveness. The validity of the proposed driver is confirmed through a theoretical analysis. An explanation of the design considerations and experimental results were obtained using a prototype applicable to a 46" LED-TV.
The multi-resonant converter(MRC) minimizes a parasitic oscillation by using the resonant tank circuit absorbed parasitic reactances existing in a converter circuit. So it si possible that the converter operated at a high frequency has a high efficiency because the losses are reduced. Such a MHz high frequency applications provide a high power density [W/inch3] of the converter. But the resonant voltage stress across a switch of the resonant tank circuit is 4~5 times a input voltage. This h호 voltage stress increases the conduction loss because of on-resistance of a MOSFET with higher rating. Thus, in this paper we proposed the alternated multi-resonant converter (AT MRC) differ from the clamp mode multi-resonant converter and applicated it to the forward MRC. The AT forward MRC can reduce the voltage stress to 2~3 times a input voltage by using two series input capacitor. The control circuit is simple because tow resonant switches are driven directly by the output pulse of the voltage controled oscillator. This circuit type is verified through the experimental converter with 48V input voltage, 5V/50W output voltage/power and PSpice simulation. the measured maximum voltage stress is 170V of 2.9 times the input voltage and the maximum efficiency of 81.66% is measured.
Recently polymer insulators are being used for outdoor high voltage applications. Polymer insulators have significant advantages over porcelain and glass insulators. With the gradual improvement of their design and material, their reliability has also increased. It is however difficult to establish how they will perform after several years of service. Aging of the insulator weathershed may lead to damages such as excessive chalking and crazing, erosion and tracking which affect the insulator performance. In service insulator are subjected to aging stresses such as humidity, pollution and electrical field which act singly or in combination. There have been numerous accelerated laboratory tests developed with the intention of evaluating suitability of polymeric materials. Some of these are strictly material tests, where as, others evaluate full scale devices. Service experience plays a key role in the utility selection of polymer insulator, but is time consuming, and may not always be available. Hence there is a need for a meaningful and reliable accelerated aging test for polymer insulator. This paper describes multi-stress aging test for reliability of polymer insulator This paper presents the rule of multi-stress aging test and test chamber for polymer insulator in korea electrotechnology research institute.
A model is constructed to evaluate the stress intensity factors for a center crack subjected to polynomial anti-symmetric loading in a layered material. A Fredholm integral equation is derived by Fourier integral transform method. The integral equation is numerically analyzed to evaluate the effects of the ratios of shear modulus, Poisson's ratio and crack length to layer thickness as well as the number of layers on the stress intensity factor. The stress intensity factors are approached to constant values as the number of layers increase and decrease as the polynomial power of the loading increase. In case of the E-glass/Epoxy composite, dimensionless stress intensity factor is affected by cracked-resin layer thickness.
This article investigates buckling behavior of a multi-phase nanocrystalline nanobeam resting on Winkler-Pasternak foundation in the framework of nonlocal couple stress elasticity and a higher order refined beam model. In this model, the essential measures to describe the real material structure of nanocrystalline nanobeams and the size effects were incorporated. This non-classical nanobeam model contains couple stress effect to capture grains micro-rotations. Moreover, the nonlocal elasticity theory is employed to study the nonlocal and long-range interactions between the particles. The present model can degenerate into the classical model if the nonlocal parameter, and couple stress effects are omitted. Hamilton's principle is employed to derive the governing equations and the related boundary conditions which are solved applying an analytical approach. The buckling loads are compared with those of nonlocal couple stress-based beams. It is showed that buckling loads of a nanocrystalline nanobeam depend on the grain size, grain rotations, porosities, interface, elastic foundation, shear deformation, surface effect, nonlocality and boundary conditions.
SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) filter for the suppression of EMG in multi-lead stress ECG is studied. SVD filter consists of two parts. In the first part, the basis vectors were chosen from the averaged singular vectors obtained from the decomposed noise-free ECG. The singular vector is computed from the stress ECG and is compared itself with basis vectors to know whether the noise exist in stress ECG. In the second part, the existing elimination method is used, when one(or two) channels is(or are) contaminated by noise. But the proposed enhanced SVD filter is used in case of having the noise in the many channels. During signal decomposition and reconstruction, the noise-free channel or the least noisy channel have the weight of 1, the next less noisy channel has the weight of 0.8. In this way, every channel was weighted by decreased of 0.2 in proportion to the amount of the added noise. For the evaluation of the proposed enhanced SVD filter, we compared the SNR computed by the enhanced SVD filter with the standard average filter for the noise-free signal added with artificial noise and the patient data. The proposed SVD filter showed better in the SNR than the standard average filter. In conclusion, we could find that the enhanced SVD filter is more proper in processing multi-lead stress ECG.
When environmental elements such as heat, light, air, and sound conditions were suited for the human life, it makes for the welfare and comfortableness of dwellers. This study about residential environmental stress based on environmental psychology very importance because dwellers' background characteristics have an impact on their residential environmental stress levels and it was related to dwellers' satisfaction and well-being. Research about stress connected with residential environment is very important. One's residential environment has direct effects not only on the physical environment but also on family values and expectations, actions, attitude etc. The purpose of this paper is to: 1) identify the general trends of residential environmental stress 2) analyze the differences in socio-demographic characteristics and how the physical characteristics of buildings affect stress. The samples in this study consisted of dwellers living in multi-family housing in Gwang-ju, South Korea. The city was divided into 5 districts and used quota sampling. 324 housewives were sampled from the households by self-administered questionnaires. The survey was conducted in December of the year 2006 after the questionnaire was revised based on the results of preliminary survey.
The effects of TRansformation Induced Plasticity(TRIP) phenomena on the plastic deformation of 0.2C-1.5Si-1.5Mn multiphase steels have been investigated at various heat treatment and stress conditions. In order to estimate the formability, the hole expansion(HE) tests and the tensile tests were carried out. The formability evaluated from the uni-axial tensile tests was quite different from the formability measured from multi-axial HE-tests. Consequently, the formability in the multi-axial stress state decreased due to the extinction of the retained austenite relatively at earlier deformation stage and the production of irregular α' martensite. However, the defects of TRIP-steels were initiated exactly at the boundary between transformed martensite and ferrite matrix regardless of stress state. In addition, new experimental formula is proposed in order to predict the multi-axial formability of the TRIP steels from the results of uniaxial tensile test.
