Recently, aegis of authentication and creator's copyright has become a matter of great concern by the diffusion of multimedia technique and the growth of the internet and the easily duplicated property of digital data. Consequently, many active researches have been made to protect copyright and to assure integrity by inserting watermark into the digital data. In this paper, watermark is repeated through the entire image and adapted to the content of the image. It is achieved by an underlying process of transforming the digital image to the frequency domain by wavelet transform, which has three (vertical, horizontal, diagonal) directions and Multi-resolution features, and then choosing frequency area inferior to the human perceptibility, and significant for invisible and robust watermark. Watermark is inserted by utilizing Human Visual System (HVS) feature in the wavelet transformed frequency domain. Especially, watermark inserted into the high frequency concentrated textual area makes itself invisible.

This study applied SGM (Semi Global Matching) to generate DSM (Digital Surface Model) using WorldView-1 high-resolution satellite stereo pair in Terrassa, Spain provided by ISPRS (International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing). The SGM is an image matching algorithm that performs the computation of the matching cost for the stereo pair in multi-paths and aggregates the computed costs sequentially. This method finally calculates the disparity corresponding to the minimum (or maximum) value of the aggregation cost. The cost was applied to MI (Mutual Information), NCC (Normalized Cross-Correlation), and CT (Census Transform) in order to the SGM. The accuracy and performance of the outline representation result in DSM by each cost are presented. Based on the images used and the subject area, the accuracy of the CT cost results was the highest, and the outline representation was also most clearly depicted. In addition, while the SGM method represented more detailed outlines than the existing software, many errors occurred in the water area.

Power quality has become concern both utilities and their customers with wide spread use of electronic and power electronic equipment. The poor quality of electric power causes malfunctions, instabilities and shorter lifetime of the load. In power system operation, power system disturbances such as faults, overvoltage, capacitor switching transients, harmonic distortion and impulses affects power quality. For diagnosing power quality problem, the causes of the disturbances should be understood before appropriate actions can be taken. In this paper we present a new approach to detect, localize, and investigate the feasibility of classifying various types of power quality disturbances. This paper deals with the use of a multi-resolution analysis by a discrete wavelet transform to detect power system disturbances such as interruption, sag, swell, transients, etc. We also proposed do-noising and threshold technique to detect power system disturbances in a noisy environment. To find the better mother wavelet for detecting disturbances, we compared the performance of the disturbance detection with the several mother wavelets such as Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets and Biorthogonals wavelets. In our analysis, we adopt db4 wavelet as mother wavelet because it shows better results for detecting several disturbances than other mother wavelets. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, a various case studies are simulated for the example system which is constructed by using PSCAD/EMTDC. From the simulation results. proposed method detects time Points of the start and end time of the disturbances.
Extraction of texts from images is a fundamental and important problem to understand the images. This paper suggests a text region verification method by statistical means of stroke features of the characters. The method extracts 36 dimensional features from $16\times16$sized text and non-text images using wavelet transform - these 36 dimensional features express stroke and direction of characters - and select 12 sub-features out of 36 dimensional features which yield adequate separation between classes. After selecting the features, SVM trains the selected features. For the verification of the text region, each $16\times16$image block is scanned and classified as text or non-text. Then, the text region is finally decided as text region or non-text region. The proposed method is able to verify text regions which can hardly be distin guished.
Due to the advantage of wavelet transform such as the compatibility with JPEG2000, multi-resolution decomposition, and application of HVS(Human Visual System), watermarking algorithm based on wavelet transform (DWT) is recently mast interesting research subject. However, mast of researches are focused on theoretical aspects for the robustness rather than practical usage, and. may be not suitable too much complicated to use in practice. In this paper, robust logo watermarking algorithm based on DWT is proposed for large and huge data processing. The proposed method embeds the logo watermark by mapping of $8{\times}8$ blocks in order of the number of '1' of the original image and the randomized watermark image with LFSR. The original image is transformed by 2 level wavelet. The experimental results shows that the watermark is embedded successfully, and the proposed algorithm has the valuable robustness from the image processing like JPEG compression, low pass filter, high pass filter and changes in brightness and contrast.

As the communication environment evolves, there is an increasing need for multiresolution image coding. To meet this need, the entrophy constratined vector quantizer(ECVQ) for coding of image pyramids by spline wavelet transform is introduced in this paper. This paper proposes a new scheme for image compression taking into account psychovisual feature both in the space and frequency domains : this proposed method involves two steps. First we use spline wavelet transform in order to obtain a set of biorthogonal subclasses of images ; the original image is decomposed at different scale using a pyramidal algorithm architecture. The decomposition is along the vertical and horizontal directions and maintains constant the number of pixels required the image. Second, according to Shannon's rate distortion theory, the wavelet coefficients are vectored quantized using a multi-resolution ECVQ(entropy-constrained vector quantizer) codebook. The simulation results showed that the proposed method could achieve higher quality LENA image improved by about 2.0 dB than that of the ECVQ using other wavelet at 0.5 bpp and, by about 0.5 dB at 1.0 bpp, and reduce the block effect and the edge degradation.

During the past decades, detection of gear defects remains as a major problem, especially when the gears are subject to non-stationary phenomena. The idea of this paper is to mixture a multilevel wavelet transform with a fast EMD decomposition in order to early detect gear defects. The sensitivity of a kurtosis is used as an indicator of gears defect burn. When the gear is damaged, the appearance of a crack on the gear tooth disrupts the signal. This is due to the presence of periodic pulses. Nevertheless, the existence of background noise induced by the random excitation can have an impact on the values of these temporal indicators. The denoising of these signals by multilevel wavelet transform improves the sensitivity of these indicators and increases the reliability of the investigation. Finally, a defect diagnosis result can be obtained after the fast transformation of the EMD. The proposed approach consists in applying a multi-resolution wavelet analysis with variable decomposition levels related to the severity of gear faults, then a fast EMD is used to early detect faults. The proposed mixed methods are evaluated on vibratory signals from the test bench, CETIM. The obtained results have shown the occurrence of a teeth defect on gear on the 5th and 8th day. This result agrees with the report of the appraisal made on this gear system.

A novel fast parallel NTGST is proposed for high resolution computer vision inspection of the BLUs in a LCD production line. The conventional computation- intensive NTGST algorithm is modified and its C codes are optimized into fast NTGST to be adapted to the SIMD parallel architecture. And then, the input inspection image is partitioned and allocated to each of the P processors in multi-threaded implementation, and the NTGST is executed on SIMD architecture of N data items simultaneously in each thread. Thus, the proposed inspection system can achieve the speedup of O(NP). Experiments using Dual-Pentium III processor with its MMX and extended MMX SIMD technology show that the proposed parallel NTGST is about Sp=8 times faster than the conventional NTGST, which shows the scalability of the proposed system implementation for the fast, high resolution computer vision inspection of the various sized BLUs in LCD production lines.
Multicomponent seismic data including both P- and PS-waves have advantages in discriminating the type of pore fluid, characterizing the lithologic attributes and producing the high resolution image. However, multicomponent seismic data recorded at the vertical and horizontal component receivers contain both P- and PS-waves which have different features, simultaneously. Therefore, the wavefield separation of P- and PS-waves as a preprocessing is inevitable in order to use the multicomponent seismic data successfully. In this study, we analyzed the previous study of the wavefield separation method suggested by Jeong and Byun in 2011, where the approximated reflection angle calculated only from one refernce depth is used in rotation transform, and showed its limitation for seismic data containing various reflected events from the multi-layered structure. In order to overcome its limitation, we suggested a new effective wavefield separation method of P- and PS-waves. In new method, we calculate the reflection angles with various reference depths and apply rotation transforms to the data with those reflection angles. Then we stack all results to obtain the final separated data. To verify our new method, we applied it to the synthetic data sets from a multi-layered model, a fault model, and the Marmousi-2 model. The results showed that the proposed method separated successfully P- and PS-reflection events from the multicomponent data from mild dipping layered model as long as the dip is not too steep.

Classification of the land cover characteristics is a major application of remote sensing. The goal of this study is to propose an optimal classification process for electro-optical camera(EOC) of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite(KOMPSAT). The study was carried out on Landsat TM, high spectral resolution image and KOMPSAT EOC, high spatial resolution image of Miho river basin, Korea. The study was conducted in two stages: one was image fusion of TM and EOC to gain high spectral and spatial resolution image, the other was land cover classification on fused image. Four fusion techniques were applied and compared for its topographic interpretation such as IHS, HPF, CN and wavelet transform. The fused images were classified by radial basis function neural network(RBF-NN) and artificial neural network(ANN) classification model. The proposed RBF-NN was validated for the study area and the optimal model structure and parameter were respectively identified for different input band combinations. The results of the study propose an optimal classification process of KOMPSAT EOC to improve the thematic mapping and extraction of environmental information.
