Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a technique to visualize specific DNA/RNA sequences within the cell nuclei and provide the presence, location and structural integrity of genes on chromosomes. A confocal Whole Slide Imaging (WSI) scanner technology has superior depth resolution compared to wide-field fluorescence imaging. Confocal WSI has the ability to perform serial optical sections with specimen imaging, which is critical for 3D tissue reconstruction for volumetric spatial analysis. The standard clinical manual scoring for FISH is labor-intensive, time-consuming and subjective. Application of multi-gene FISH analysis alongside 3D imaging, significantly increase the level of complexity required for an accurate 3D analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish automated 3D FISH scoring for z-stack images from confocal WSI scanner. The algorithm and the application we developed, SHIMARIS PAFQ, successfully employs 3D calculations for clear individual cell nuclei segmentation, gene signals detection and distribution of break-apart probes signal patterns, including standard break-apart, and variant patterns due to truncation, and deletion, etc. The analysis was accurate and precise when compared with ground truth clinical manual counting and scoring reported in ten lymphoma and solid tumors cases. The algorithm and the application we developed, SHIMARIS PAFQ, is objective and more efficient than the conventional procedure. It enables the automated counting of more nuclei, precisely detecting additional abnormal signal variations in nuclei patterns and analyzes gigabyte multi-layer stacking imaging data of tissue samples from patients. Currently, we are developing a deep learning algorithm for automated tumor area detection to be integrated with SHIMARIS PAFQ.
As the e-Commerce gets increased based on the platform, a lot of small and medium sized sellers have tried to develop the more effective strategies to maximize the profit. In order to increase the profitability, it is quite important to make the strategic decisions based on the range of promotion, discount rate and categories of products. This research aims to develop the business intelligence application which can help sellers of e-Commerce platform make better decisions. To decide whether or not to promote, it is needed to predict the level of increase in sales after promotion. I n this research, we have applied the various machine learning algorithm such as MLP(Multi Layer Perceptron), Gradient Boosting Regression, Random Forest, and Linear Regression. Because of the complexity of data structure and distinctive characteristics of product categories, Random Forest and MLP showed the best performance. It seems possible to apply the proposed approach in this research in support the small and medium sized sellers to react on the market changes and to make the reasonable decisions based on the data, not their own experience.
The design of tunnels in rock masses often demands more informations on geologic features and rock mass properties than acquired by usual field survey and laboratory testings. In practice, the situation that a perfect set of geological and mechanical input data is given to geomechanics design engineer is rare, while the engineers are asked to achieve a high level of reliability in their design products. This study presents an artificial neural network which is developed to resolve the difficulties encountered in conventional design techniques, particulary the problem of deteriorating the confidence of existing numerical techniques such as the finite element, boundary element and distinct element methods due to the incomplete adn vague input data. The neural network has inferring capabilities to identify the possible failure modes, support requirements and its timing for underground openings, from previous case histories. Use of the neural network has resulted in a better estimate of the correlation between systems of rock mass classifications such as the RMR and Q systems. A back propagation learning algorithm together with a multi-layer network structure is adopted to enhance the inferential accuracy and efficiency of the neural network. A series of experiments comparing the results of the neural network with the actual field observations are performed to demonstrate the abilities of the artificial neural network as a new tunnel design assistance system.

In solving multi-level knapsack problems, conventional heuristic approaches often assume a short-sighted plan within a static decision enviornment to find a near optimal solution. These conventional approaches are inflexible, and lack the ability to adapt to different problem structures. This research approaches the problem from a totally different viewpoint, and a new method is designed and implemented. This method performs intelligent actions based on memories of historic data and learning. These actions are developed not only by observing the attributes of the optimal solution, the solution space, and its corresponding path to the optimal solution, but also by applying human intelligence, experience, and intuition with respect to the search strategies. The method intensifies, or diversifies the search process appropriately in time and space. In order to create a good neighborhood structure, this method uses two powerful choice rules that emphasize the impact of candidate variables on the current solution with respect to their profit contribution. A side effect of so-called "pseudo moves", similar to "aspirations", supports these choice rules during the evaluation process. For the purpose of visiting as many relevant points as possible, strategic oscillation between feasible and infeasible solutions around the boundary is applied for intensification. To avoid redundant moves, short-term (tabu-lists), intermediate-term (cycle detection), and long-term (recording frequency and significant solutions for diversification) memories are used. Test results show that among the 45 generated problems (these problems pose significant or insurmountable challenges to exact methods) the approach produces the optimal solutions in 39 cases.lutions in 39 cases.

We investigatea new fuzzy-neural networks-Hybrid Fuzzy set based polynomial Neural Networks (HFSPNN). These networks consist of genetically optimized multi-layer with two kinds of heterogeneous neurons thatare fuzzy set based polynomial neurons (FSPNs) and polynomial neurons (PNs). We have developed a comprehensive design methodology to determine the optimal structure of networks dynamically. The augmented genetically optimized HFSPNN (namely gHFSPNN) results in a structurally optimized structure and comes with a higher level of flexibility in comparison to the one we encounter in the conventional HFPNN. The GA-based design procedure being applied at each layer of gHFSPNN leads to the selection leads to the selection of preferred nodes (FSPNs or PNs) available within the HFSPNN. In the sequel, the structural optimization is realized via GAs, whereas the ensuing detailed parametric optimization is carried out in the setting of a standard least square method-based learning. The performance of the gHFSPNN is quantified through experimentation where we use a number of modeling benchmarks synthetic and experimental data already experimented with in fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.
Botanic gardens are steadily increasing based on people's increased interests in environment and ecology, lengthened leisure hours and improved transportation. However, similar florae and undifferentiated display are considered as problems, while their functions, purposes and characteristics have been more diversified. This study aims to investigate the present conditions and problems of display at botanic gardens and to find out solutions to make them exhibit plants through various ways of display and have their own characteristic, through a case study of seven botanic gardens. As botanic gardens are being recognized as a cultural institution, they should have limitations in the aspect of places that simply collect and exhibit rare plants. The current problems are unclear setting of design goals and communication with visitors. The gardens should escape from the existing supplier-oriented view to a visitor-oriented view, thinking about what the visitors will be able to see and get there. In particular, their display lacks differency, aesthetics, eye-level display, and multi-layered display. In addition to the essential functions of collecting the world's plants, exhibiting them according to purposes and giving scientific learning, botanic gardens should also show a sense of seasons with plants, trigger interests and amusement through unique plants, make visitors more interested in florae and closer to plants, and include social functions. Botanic gardens should be capable of leaning resources display, speciated display, complex and convergent garden-type display, and display fit for local and cultural contexts.

Panoptic segmentation, which is now widely used in computer vision such as medical image analysis, and autonomous driving, helps understanding an image with holistic view. It identifies each pixel by assigning a unique class ID, and an instance ID. Specifically, it can classify 'thing' from 'stuff', and provide pixel-wise results of semantic prediction and object detection. As a result, it can solve both semantic segmentation and instance segmentation tasks through a unified single model, producing two different contexts for two segmentation tasks. Semantic segmentation task focuses on how to obtain multi-scale features from large receptive field, without losing low-level features. On the other hand, instance segmentation task focuses on how to separate 'thing' from 'stuff' and how to produce the representation of detected objects. With the advances of both segmentation techniques, several panoptic segmentation models have been proposed. Many researchers try to solve discrepancy problems between results of two segmentation branches that can be caused on the boundary of the object. In this survey paper, we will introduce the concept of panoptic segmentation, categorize the existing method into two representative methods and explain how it is operated on two methods: top-down method and bottom-up method. Then, we will analyze the performance of various methods with experimental results.

This study examines the history of Korean aviation industry and presents the investment strategy based on the evidence and the 4th industrial revolution. Looking at the evolution of the Korean aviation industry and its technological development will be a great help to support industrial and technological innovation in the future. The modern aviation industry is divided into stages of development, focusing on maintenance of equipment introduced in advanced countries, localization through license assembly, production of products based on technology, and international joint development. The development of aeronautics technology has been progressing towards a general improvement of economic efficiency, aircraft safety efficiency through environmental-friendliness, unmanned operation, and downsizing. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has secured key technologies through development of several aircrafts such as Experimental Aircraft Kachi, EXPO Unmanned Airship, Twin-engine Composite Aircraft, Canard Aircraft, Multi-Purpose Stratosphere unmanned-airship, Medium Aerostats, Smart UAV, Surion, EAV-2H, KC-100, and OPV. The development strategy is discussed at the level of the evidence-based investment strategy that is currently being discussed, and so the investment priorities in aircraft is high. Current drone usage and development direction are not only producing parts using 3D printer, but also autonomous flight, communication (IoT, 5G), information processing (big data, machine learning). Therefore, the aviation industry is expected to lead the fourth industrial revolution.

Default has become an extreme concern in the current world due to the financial crisis. The previous prediction of companies' bankruptcy exhibits evidence of decision assistance for financial and regulatory bodies. Notwithstanding numerous advanced approaches, this area of study is not outmoded and requires additional research. The purpose of this research is to find the best classifier to detect a company's default risk and bankruptcy. This study used secondary data from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and it is time-series data to examine the impact on the determinants. This research examined several different classifiers as per their competence to properly categorize default and non-default Pakistani companies listed on the PSX. Additionally, PSX has remained consistent for some years in terms of growth and has provided benefits to its stockholders. This paper utilizes machine learning techniques to predict financial distress in companies listed on the PSX. Our results indicate that most multi-stage mixture of classifiers provided noteworthy developments over the individual classifiers. This means that firms will have to work on the financial variables such as liquidity and profitability to not fall into the category of liquidation. Moreover, Adaptive Boosting (Adaboost) provides a significant boost in the performance of each classifier.
Recently, several ICT-based cat studies have produced some successful results, according to academic and industry sources. However, research on the level of simply identifying the cat's condition, such as the behavior and sound classification of cats based on images and sound signals, has yet to be found. In this paper, based on the veterinary scientific knowledge of cats, a practical and academic cat monitoring and disease diagnosis system is proposed to monitor the health status of the cat 24 hours a day by automatically categorizing and analyzing the behavior of the cat with location information using LSTM with a beacon sensor and a raspberry pie that can be built at low cost. Validity of the proposed system is verified through experimentation with cats in actual custody (the accuracy of the cat behavior classification and location identification was 96.3% and 92.7% on average, respectively). Furthermore, a rule-based disease analysis system based on the veterinary knowledge was designed and implemented so that owners can check whether or not the cats have diseases at home (or can be used as an auxiliary tool for diagnosis by a pet veterinarian).
