Random Backoff Scheme of Emergency Warning Message for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communications (차량 간 통신에서 충돌을 완화하기 위한 랜덤 백오프 방안)

  • In this paper, we propose a random backoff scheme for Emergency Warning Messages (EWMs) in the vehicle-to-vehicle environment. The EWMs are disseminated from a vehicle that detects an emergency situation to other vehicles in a multi-hop fashion. Since the vehicle-to-vehicle communication based on IEEE 802.11 adapts CSMA/CA, the density of vehicles increase the probability of collisions between transmissions. Moreover, in the presence of background traffic, the EWM should have a higher priority than that of other messages in neighboring vehicles. To that end, we propose the Distant-Dependent Adaptive Backoff (DDAB) scheme, which set a different contention window for random backoff depending on the distance from the sender to the receiver. In the case when a vehicle is expected to located in the outskirts of the communication boundary, the proposed scheme makes the contention window size small in order to compete the background traffic transmission. Otherwise the contention window is set to a large number to reduce the collision possibility among the EWM transmissions. Via simulations, we show that the proposed scheme performs better than the previous schemes for EWM.

Energy Efficient Congestion Control Scheme in Ad-hoc Networks (Ad-hoc 통신망의 에너지 효율적인 혼잡 제어 기법)

  • In recent years, there have been many researches about Ad-hoc Networks which is available to communicate freely between mobile devices by using multi-hop without any support of relay base or access point. TCP that used the most widely transport protocol in the Internet repeats packet loss and retransmission because it increases congestion window size by using reactive congestion control until packet loss occurs. As a result of this, energy of mobile device is wasted unnecessarily. In this paper, we propose TCP-New Veno in order to improve the energy efficiency of mobile device. According to the state of network, the scheme adjusts appropriate size of congestion window. Therefore, the energy efficiency of mobile device and utilization of bandwidth are improved by the scheme. From the simulation by using ns-2, we could see more improved energy efficiency with TCP-New Veno than those with TCP in Ad-hoc Networks.

A Study on Energy Conservative Hierarchical Clustering for Ad-hoc Network (애드-혹 네트워크에서의 에너지 보존적인 계층 클러스터링에 관한 연구)

  • An ad-hoc wireless network provides self-organizing data networking while they are routing of packets among themselves. Typically multi-hop and control packets overhead affects the change of route of transmission. There are numerous routing protocols have been developed for ad hoc wireless networks as the size of the network scale. Hence the scalable routing protocol would be needed for energy efficient various network routing environment conditions. The number of depth or layer of hierarchical clustering nodes are analyzed the different clustering structure with topology in this paper. To estimate the energy efficient number of cluster layer and energy dissipation are studied based on distributed homogeneous spatial Poisson process with context-awareness nodes condition. The simulation results show that CACHE-R could be conserved the energy of node under the setting the optimal layer given parameters.

Performance Analysis of Position Based Routing Protocol for UAV Networks (UAV 네트워크 환경에 적합한 위치기반 라우팅 프로토콜의 성능 분석)

  • Many systems are developing for the realization of NCW(Network Centric Warfare). UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Network is attracting attention in a lot of military applications. In general, UAVs have the potential to create an ad-hoc network and greatly reduce the hops from source to destination. However, UAV networks exhibit unique properties such as high mobility, high data rate, and real time service. The routing protocols are required to design the multi-hop routing protocols that can dynamically adapt to the requirements of UAV network. In this paper we analyse Geographic Routing Protocol is based on geographical distance between source and destination for efficient and reliable transmission. Geographic Routing Protocol is evaluated in video service scenarios with TDMA model in our simulation. The simulation results show that the performance of Geographic Routing Protocol is better than the MANET Routing Protocol in terms of packet received ratio, end to end delay, and routing traffic sent.

  • In this paper we propose a scalable sensor network system that makes mesh network among the sink nodes to solve the scalability problem of existing sensor network which is caused by multi-hop networking between the sensor nodes. In the proposed system, the sink nodes have the wireless networking ability to communicate with another sink nodes in mesh fashion, and with the monitoring nodes which is located in the local area or internet area. Especially, the system includes L4(Application Layer) routing mechanism that provides subscribe/publish service to serve selective transmission of sensor data to the specific monitoring nodes. The collected sensor data is transmitted to the monitoring nodes when the sensor data is matched with the monitoring node's interesting value.

  • Recently, multimedia application users who demand for ubiquitous computing environment are rapidly increasing, and wireless mesh network is receiving attention as a cost-effective key technology for next generation wireless networking. When multiple flows are transmitting data at the same time in the network, routing for path selection of each flow and link resource allocation for data transmission of each flow are one of the key factors that influence to the effectiveness of the network directly. In this paper, we consider problems for path discovery and resource allocation of links at the same time and we propose an algorithm based on mathematical modeling using a technique for cross-layer optimization design in STDMA-based wireless mesh networks that can enhance transfer performance for each flow. We show by performance analysis that the proposed algorithm can enhance the throughput performance by maximally utilizing given bandwidth resources when the number of flows increase in multi-hop wireless mesh networks.

  • Recently, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) are widely used for intrusion detection and ecology, environment, atmosphere, industry, traffic, fire monitoring. In this paper, an energy efficient clustering algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm forms clusters uniformly by selecting cluster head that optimally located based on receiving power. Besides, proposed algorithm can induce uniform energy consumption regardless of location of nodes by multi-hop transmission and MST formation with limited maximum depth. Through the above, proposed algorithm elongates network life time, reduces energy consumption of nodes and induces fair energy consumption compared to conventional LEACH and HEED. The results of simulation show that the proposed clustering algorithm elongates network life time through fair energy consumption.

  • In this paper, we proposed the location-aware coordinate routing algorithm for improving the performance of routing algorithm by using ZigBee in Smart Grid environment. A distributed address allocation scheme used an existing algorithm that has wasted in address space. The x, y and z coordinate axes from divided address space of 16 bit to solve this problems. However, coordinate routing does not take account of wireless link condition. If wiress link condition is not considered, when the routing table is updated, the nodes with bad link conditions are updated in the routing table and can be chosen as the next hop. This brings out the retransmissions because of received packet's errors. Also, because of these retransmissions, additional power is consumed. In this paper, we propose the location-aware coordinate routing algorithm considering wiress link condition, where reliable data transmission is made and the consumed enegy is minimize. and we compared and connected region and transition region of ZigBee location based routing in the aspect of average number of multi hops, subordinate packet delivery ratio, delay time, and energy consumption of proposed algorithm. It turned out that there were improvements in performances of each items.

  • Wireless mesh network technology with transmission speeds similar to wired and wireless technology means to build, compared with wired networks, building a more efficient network to provide convenience and flexibility. The wireless mesh network router nodes in the energy impact of the mobility is less constrained and has fewer features entail. However, the characteristics of various kinds due to network configuration settings and the choice of multiple paths that can occur when the system overhead and there are many details that must be considered. Therefore, according to the characteristics of these network routing technology that is reflected in the design and optimization of the network is worth noting. In this paper, a multi-path setting can be raised in order to respond effectively to the problem of the router node data loss and bandwidth according to traffic conditions and links to elements of the hop count evaluation by using a genetic algorithm as a workaround for dynamic routing the routing metric for wireless mesh network scheme is proposed.

  • MANET(Mobile Ad hoc networks) is a mobile, multi-hop, and wireless network which is bandwidth constrained, energy constrained, resource constrained, autonomous, and self operating systems with dynamic topology. These constraints make the routing between communicating nodes in ad hoc networks difficult. In this paper we survey several routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks. Especially, we focus on Zone Routing Protocol, hybrid routing framework suitable for a wide of mobile ad hoc networks and analyze performance of ZRP. In the case of ZRP protocol, it is essential that the use of optimal zone radius for efficient use. Otherwise it was proved through an simulation that performance of whole network is rapidly decrease with greatly increasing overhead of ZRP traffic that need for transmission of packet by IARP or IERP traffic. Also we suggest the process of finding QoS path that use in-band signal for QoS routing in ad hoc network. This method guarantees route that make real time multimedia service for QoS enabled path.
