Preliminary Design of Electronic System for the Optical Payload

  • In the development of a electronic system for a optical payload comprising mainly EOS(Electro-Optical Sub-system) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Sub-system), many aspects should be investigated and discussed for the easy implementation, for th e higher reliability of operation and for the effective ness in cost, size and weight as well as for the secure interface with components of a satellite bus, etc. As important aspects the interfaces between a satellite bus and a payload, and some design features of the CEU(Camera Electronics Unit) inside the payload are described in this paper. Interfaces between a satellite bus and a payload depend considerably on whether t he payload carries the PMU(Payload Management Un it), which functions as main controller of the Payload, or not. With the PMU inside the payload, EOS and PDTS control is performed through the PMU keep ing the least interfaces of control signals and primary power lines, while the EOS and PDTS control is performed directly by the satellite bus components using relatively many control signals when no PMU exists inside the payload. For the CEU design the output channel configurations of panchromatic and multi-spectral bands including the video image data inter face between EOS and PDTS are described conceptually. The timing information control which is also important and necessary to interpret the received image data is described.

  • Ultrasonic sensors are widely used in mobile robot applications to recognize external environments by virtue that they are cheap, easy to use, and robust under varying lighting conditions. In most cases, a single ultrasonic sensor is used to measure the distance to an object based on time-of-flight (TOF) information, whereas multiple sensors are used to recognize the shape of an object, such as a comer, plane, or edge. However, the conventional sequential driving technique involves a long measurement time. This problem can be resolved by pulse coding of ultrasonic signals, which allows multi-sensors to be emitted simultaneously and adjacent objects to be distinguished. Accordingly, this paper presents a new simultaneous coded driving system for an ultrasonic sensor array for object recognition in autonomous mobile robots. The proposed system is designed and implemented. A micro-controller unit is implemented using a DSP, Polaroid 6500 ranging modules are modified for firing the coded signals, and a 5-channel coded signal generating board is made using a FPGA. To verify the proposed method, experiments were conducted in an environment with overlapping signals, and the flight distances fur each sensor were obtained from the received overlapping signals using correlations and conversion to a bipolar PCM-NRZ signal.

  • This paper proposes a system architecture for USN with a service robot to provide more active assisted living services for elderly persons by monitoring their mental and physical well-being with USN environments at home, hospital, or silver town. Sensors embedded in USN are used to detect preventive measures for chronic disease. Logged data are transferred to main controller of a service robot via wireless channel in which the analysis of data is performed. For the purpose of handling emergency situations, it needs real-time processing on gathering variety sensor data, routing algorithms for sensor nodes to a moving sink node and processing of logged data. This paper realized multi-hop sensor network to detect user movements with biometric data transmission and performed algorithms on Xenomai, a real-time embedded Linux. To leverage active sensing, a mobile robot is used of which task was implemented with a priority to process urgent data came from the sink-node. This software architecture is anticipated to integrate sensing, communication and computing with real-time manner. In order to verify the usefulness of a proposed system, the performance of data transferring and processing on a real-time OS with non real-time OS is also evaluated.

군집 드론의 동시제어를 위한 멀티채널 송신 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Multi-channel Communication System for Drone Swarms Control)

  • Communication technologies hold a significant place in the swarm flight of drones for surveillance, inspection of disasters and calamities, entertainment performances, and drone collaborations. A GCS(ground control station) for the control of drone swarms needs its devoted communication method to control a large number of drones at the same time. General drone controllers control drones by connecting transmitters and drones in 1:1. When such an old communication method is employed to control many drones simultaneously, problems can emerge with the control of many transmitter modules connected to a GCS and frequency interference among them. This study implemented a transmitter controller to control many drones simultaneously with a communication chip of 2.4GHz ISM band and a Cortex M4-based board. It also designed a GCS to control many transmitter controllers via a network. The hierarchical method made it possible to control many more drones. In addition, the problem with frequency interference was resolved by implementing a time- and frequency-sharing method, controlling many drones simultaneously, and adding the frequency hopping feature. If PPM and S.BUS protocol features are added to it, it will be compatible with more diverse transmitters and drones.

  • Noise problem that occurs in living environment is a big trouble in the economic, social and environmental aspects. In this paper, the filtered-X LMS algorithms, the adjoint LMS algorithms, and the robust adjoint LMS algorithms will be introduced for applications in active noise control(ANC). The filtered-X LMS algorithms is currently the most popular method for adapting a filter when the filter exits a transfer function in the error path. The adjoint LMS algorithms, that prefilter the error signals instead of divided reference signals in frequency band, is also used for adaptive filter algorithms to reduce the computational burden of multi-channel ANC systems such as the 3D space. To improve performance of the adjoint LMS ANC system, an off-line measured transfer function is connected parallel to the LMS filter. This parallel-fixed filter acts as a noise controller only when the LMS filter is abnormal condition. The superior performance of the proposed system was compared through simulation with the adjoint LMS ANC system when the adaptive filter is in normal and abnormal condition.

  • A vacuum control system has been developed for using Ethernet Multi Serial Device Severs (EMSDS) for the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) storage ring. There are 124 vacuum ion pumps at the storage ring. It was a very important problem to solve the problem how to control such a big number of vacuum pumps distributed around the ring. After discussions, we decided to develop a serial to ethernet interrace device sever that will be mounted in the control system rack. It has a 32-bits microprocessor embedded Linux, 12 ports RS485 (or RS232) slave interface. one channel 10/100BaseTx ethernet host port, one channel UART host port, and 16 Mbytes large memory buffer. These vacuum pumps are connected to Ion-Pump serial controllers, which chop the AC current so as to control the current in the pumps. The EMSDS connect either 100BaseTx or 10BaseT ethernet networks to asynchronous serial ports for communication with serial device. It can simultaneously control up to 12 ion-pump serial controllers. 12 EMSDS are connected to a personal computer (PC) through the network. The PC can automatically control the EMSDS by sending a set of commands through the TCP/IP network. Upon receiving a command from a PC running under Windows2000 through the network, the EMSDS communicate through the stave serial interrace ports to ion-pump controller. We added some software components on the top of EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) toolkit.

웨이볼릿 기반의 차분전력분석 기법 제안 (A Proposal of Wavelet-based Differential Power Analysis Method)

  • 수집신호의 통계적 특성을 기반으로 하는 차분전력분석 (Differential Power Analysis, DPA) 방법은 암호시스템의 키를 해독하는 데 아주 효과적인 방법으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 수집신호의 시간적인 동기와 잡음에 따라 공격 성능에 상당한 영향을 받는다. 본 논문에서는 DPA에서 시간적인 동기와 잡음에 의한 영향을 동시에 효과적으로 극복하는 웨이블릿(Wavelet) 기반의 신호처리 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법의 성능은 DES 연산중인 마이크로 컨트롤러 칩의 전력소비 신호를 이용해서 측정한다. 실험을 통해 제안된 웨이블릿 기반의 전처리 시스템의 성능은 키 해독에 필요한 필요 평문의 수가 기존의 방법들이 필요로 하는 25%의 평문의 수로도 충분함을 보여주고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 DTV 커버리지 측정차량의 문제점을 해결하고 효율적으로 전파 음영지역을 찾아내기 위해 고정식 DTV전파측정차량의 기능을 포함하면서도 이동하며 전파수신현황 및 수신상태를 측정할 수 있는 다중 안테나 이동측정시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 모두 4개의 무지향성(omni-directional)안테나와 고정측정을 위한 1개의 지향성(directional)안테나를 포함하며, 공간 다이버시티(space diversity)를 활용하여 운용할 수 있도록 각각의 안테나마다 측정장비를 배치하고 각각의 측정값을 실시간으로 수집하고 처리한다. 제안된 시스템의 효용성을 보이기 위해 국내 수신 전파 환경을 3가지 유형으로 모델링하고 이들 지역에서 집중적인 측정을 실시하였다. 또한 측정 결과의 상세한 분석을 토대로 이동측정 및 고정측정간의 상관관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 제안된 시스템의 적용을 위한 실험에는 방송사 현업 실무자들이 측정 및 결과 정리에 공동으로 참여하는 등 객관성을 확보하고자 하였으며 개발 장비를 국책 연구기관의 인위적 난시청 조사사업에 일부 적용하는 등 실제 방송 커버리지 관리 업무에 적극적으로 활용하고 있다.

동시구동 및 순차센싱을 이용한 대형 정전용량 터치스크린용 고속 센싱 기법 (A Fast Sensing Method using Concurrent Driving and Sequential Sensing for Large Capacitance Touch Screens)

  • 최근 스마트폰의 발달과 더불어 대형 TV, 의료용 장비 및 전자 칠판에도 터치스크린의 수요가 급증하고 있다. 스크린 사이즈가 증가 할수록 고해상도를 위하여 훨씬 더 많은 채널이 추가 되면서 한 프레임을 스캔하는데 긴 시간이 소요되어 터치감지 지연이 큰 문제가 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 새로운 드라이빙 및 센싱 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 differential 드라이빙 방법으로 2 단계로 수행되어진다. 먼저 고속 센싱 프로세스를 통해 터치가 발생된 센싱 라인들을 우선 대략적으로 도출해 낸 후 정확한 터치 위치 스캔을 위해서 터치된 라인에서만 감지가 수행되어 진다. 이 방법을 사용하면 터치 패널의 frame refresh rate를 향상 시킬 수 있다. 제안된 구조는 FPGA와 개발된 AFE board로 구현되었으며, 23인치 상용 터치패널을 사용하여 테스트하였다. 이 기법은 기존 대비 frame scan rate를 8.4배 향상시킨다.

주파수 매핑 함수를 이용한 광대역 주파수 자동 채널 선택용 디지털 TV 튜너 (The Broadband Auto Frequency Channel Selection of the Digital TV Tuner using Frequency Mapping Function)

  • 8-VSB(Vestigial Side-Band) 변조 기술을 이용하여 ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee) 규격을 만족하는 디지털 TV 튜너를 개발하였다. 이중(double)주파수 변환 및 능동 트래킹 여파기를 튜너 전치단에 이용하여 이미지 응답 및 IF(Intermediate Frequency)Beat 성분들의 억압, 인접 채널과 다채널 수신 시 상호 간섭배제 성능을 만족할 수 있도록 이용하였다. 그러나 NTSC(National Television Systems Committee) 튜너와는 달리, 이중 주파수 변환을 이용하는 디지털 TV 튜너는 트래킹 필터 및 첫 번째 전압제어발진기 사이의 주파수 상관 관계가 존재하지 않는다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 마이크로 콘트롤러, EEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory), 디지털/아날로그 변환기, 차동 증폭기 및 스위치 드라이버가 조합된 하드웨어 및 트래킹 전압에 따른 주파수 특성에 대한 주파수 매핑을 구하여 자동 주파수 선택이 가능한 변형된 구조 및 방법을 제시하였다.
