In this study, theoretical simulation method for the steady state characteristics of a refrigeration cycle which consists of one condenser and multi-evaporator (Multi-air conditioner) is presented. The simulation was performed for a typical multi-air conditioning system consisted one outdoor unit with air-cooled condenser, compressor, linear electric expansion valve and bypass circuit and connected three-evaporators (three indoor units). The simulation results are good agreement with those of experiments within 5 $\sim$ 10% at the given system operation conditions which are condensing pressure, evaporating pressure, sub-cooled degree of condenser, superheated degree, discharge temperature of compressor and pulse of linear electric expansion valve.
The personal mobility Sharing service is currently active. Especially, electric scooters are widely utilized because they can move comfortably at a high speed over a short distance with a simple driving method. Its driving method is easy, but there is no protection device to protect the bare body. So, there is a greater accident than other means of transportation, and if two people are on board, there is higher accident probability. However, since there is no specific ways to prevent multi-person boarding yet, we propose a multi-person boarding detection model using tilt and pressure sensor. The proposed method measures the tilt degree and direction by using a tilt sensor installed in the center of the board plate and detects multi-people riding.
This paper presents a study of buckling of the multi-vaulted cylindrical shell ("Aster"), under an axial compression alone or combined with an external pressure. This shell which was presented in a recent paper is a self-stiffened structure having a satisfactory behaviour and a higher buckling strength under external pressure than a circular cylindrical shell with the same dimensions. The results of this study emphasize the interest of the behaviour of the "Aster" shell under two other types of loading, revealing an acceptable level of strength which is favorable for an expansion of its use in other areas.
Aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were synthesized through the catalytic decomposition of hydrocarbons in a quartz tube reactor. In this study, we investigated the influence of reaction parameters such as gas flow rate, ferrocene-xylene ratio and partial pressure, and reaction time on the yield and structure of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes produced by the floating catalyst method. The MWNTs produced had diameters in the range of 20~l00 nm, length around $100{\mu}m$ and bulk density about $0.51g/cm^3$ at a pressure of l0000 psi. It was possible to produce MWNTs with much faster growth rate of $12{\mu}m/min$ than that reported previously by the increase of ferrocene-xylene partial pressure.
An analysis method is developed for the prediction of venting in multiple compartments which are connected in series or parallel through multiple ports. The existing method by the authors is modified to remove the limitation in number of ports and compartments, and the more general polytropic relation or solution of the additional energy equation replaces the previous isentropic relation allowing the prediction of pressure rise in addition to pressure drop. The accuracy of the method is verified by comparison with the results by NASA Flap code for the problem of pressure drop in a payload in the Space Shuttle cargo bay. It is expected that this method will be a useful tool in prediction of the pressure variation in a payload or payload capsule without mentioning the payload fairing itself.
A novel probabilistic approach is presented for estimating the equivalent static wind loads that produce a static response of the structure, which is "equivalent" in a probabilistic sense, to the extreme dynamic responses due to the unsteady pressure random field induced by the wind. This approach has especially been developed for complex structures (such as stadium roofs) for which the unsteady pressure field is measured in a boundary layer wind tunnel with a turbulent incident flow. The proposed method deals with the non-Gaussian nature of the unsteady pressure random field and presents a model that yields a good representation of both the quasi-static part and the dynamical part of the structural responses. The proposed approach is experimentally validated with a relatively simple application and is then applied to a stadium roof structure for which experimental measurements of unsteady pressures have been performed in boundary layer wind tunnel.
Simplified thermodynamic analysis of high pressure 4-stage reciprocating compressors with 4 inter-coolers has been investigated to predict a behavior of a compressor system for NGV(natural gas vehicles). A computer program has been developed to predict and estimate the performance of high pressure 4-stage reciprocating compressor system. Thermodynamic properties of compressed natural gas(CNG) were calculated by ideal gas theory and compression cycle was assumed as reversible adiabatic compression and expansion processes, and isobaric intake and discharge processes. Comparison between results predicted by calculation model and measured by experimental tests is presented.
The multi-functional one-chip sensor has been fabricated to reduce output variation under various water environment. There were a temperature sensor, a piezoresistive type pressure sensor, and a electrode type conductivity sensor in the fabricated one-chip sensor. This sensor was measured water depth in the range of $0{\sim}180cm$, temperature in the range of $0{\sim}50^{\circ}C$, and salinity in the range of 0 $0wt%{\sim}5wt%$, respectively. Since the change of water depth in solution environment depends on various factors such as salinity, latitude, temperature, and atmospheric pressure, the water depth sensor is needed to be compensated. We tried to compensate the salinity and temperature dependence for the pressure in water by using lookup-table method.
B.P.F.(Blade Passing Frequency) levels were measured with the cut-off clearance changes. The velocity inside the scroll, pressure fluctuation at cut-off region, and the scroll surface pressure distribution along the scroll from the cut-off to outlet were measured. With a certain cut-off clearance the improvement of efficiency and attenuation of B.P.F. noise level could be achieved. The measured results of pressure fluctuation and scroll surface pressure distribution showed that the secondary flow inside the scroll increased B.P.F. noise level at the cut-off region as the cut-off clearance got wide.
NGC 4522 is one of the best-known examples among the Virgo galaxies undergoing active ram pressure stripping. There have been a number of detailed observational and theoretical studies on this galaxy to constrain its stripping and star formation history. However, the impact of ram pressure on the multi-phased ISM, in particular molecular gas which plays an important role in star formation, is still not fully understood. NGC 4522, as a system where the extra-planar molecular gas is identified, is an ideal case to probe in depth how ram pressure affects molecular gas properties. Aiming to get more theoretical insights on the detailed stripping process of multi-phased ISM and its consequences, we have conducted simulations using the TIGRESS which could reproduce the realistic ISM under comparable conditions as NGC 4522. In this work, we compare the fraction of gas mass to stellar mass, star formation rates and gas depletion time scales of NGC 4522 with those measured from the simulations, not only inside the disk but also in the extra-planar space.
