Liquid Crystal Lens for the Compensation of Spherical Aberration

  • Blu-ray 디스크에서는 NA=0.85 의 높은 개구수를 채용함으로써 디스크 보호층의 두께 변동에 따른 구면수차 발생량이 매우 커지는 문제가 발생하게 된다. 따라서 디스크 두께 공차 $3{\mu}m$에서 Blu-ray 시스템의 수차 발생 허용수준을 초과한다. 그리고 Multi-layer 디스크의 경우 각 층의 간격이 $25{\mu}m$ 정도의 간격을 두고 배치되어 있어 기록층 사이에서 발생하는 구면수차의 보정이 필요하며, 종래의 기술은 보상범위가 $3{\mu}m$로 한정되어 사용이 불가능하며 또한 대물렌즈 조립공차가 엄격히 관리되어야 하는 문제점을 안고 있었다. 본 연구에서는 액정렌즈에 의한 구면수차 보정으로 이러한 문제점들을 해결하고자 하였다. 액정렌즈는 오목렌즈 액정소자와 볼록렌즈 액정소자로 구성되며 픽업 광학계 내에 조합하여 설계함으로써 Multi-layer 디스크의 두께 변동에 따라 발생하는 구면수차를 보정하고 대물렌즈 조립공차 문제를 해결할 수 있다.

  • The recent growth in the portable display industry has been dominated by flexible display, moreover, several developing of using LCD technology has been in making the flexible display work effectively, however flexible device is not practical. Recently, the study on the multi-display screen has been published as the needs of larger screen in mobile device has been increased. The multi-display screen which is composed of two LCD panels, has the characteristics of the seamless gap between two panels. To meet the needs of this multi-display, in this paper, the study is performed to design the seamless device which consist of LCD panels, light film, back light and driver, and finally, we evaluated the effectiveness of seamless folding mechanism.

  • Recently it is becoming more common to apply vehicle electronics(Vetronics) based on information technology to improve the operability of the combat vehicles. Although the vehicle electronics system has been gradually developed, it is hard not only to design the reliable system which is a built-in multi-function but also to analyze the fault failure in the state of on-vehicle when failures occur. Therefore, It is required the data logging system like a aircraft's black box for the combat vehicles to enhance the reliability. In this paper, we developed the multi data acquisition and analysis device which is acquiring real-time data such as communication data, video data and voice data available for checking operational status of system and managing history. The performance of device has been proved on the vehicle.

  • In order to suggest the methodology for achieving anti-vortex device within multi pump intake well, CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation were conducted for two alternative suggestions. Multi-intake sump model with anti-vortex device basins were designed and the characteristics of submerged vortex were investigated in the flow field by numerical simulation. From the results of simulations, to install the horizontal plate and vertical cross plates within basins were effective for preventing air-induction vortex.

  • This paper concerns on developing a multi-purpose test device for measuring mechanical properties of shoes. The device was modified from a commercial robot manipulator, with which impact, bending, and pronation tests were suggested to evaluate performances of shoes. From several experiments, the developed device could produce repetitive and consistent results corresponding to the different material of shoes. In the shoe industry, it is expected that the device could contribute to developing a better shoe for comfort of costumers.

A Triboelectric Nanogenerator Design for the Utilization of Multi-Axial Mechanical Energies in Human Motions

  • As the use of mobile devices increase, there is public interest in the utilization of the human motion generated mechanical energy. The human motion generated mechanical energies vary depending on the body region, type of motion, etc., and an appropriate device has to be designed to utilize them effectively. In this work, a device based on the principles of triboelectric generation and inertia was assessed in order to utilize the multi-axial mechanical energies generated by human motions. To improve the output performance we confirm the changes in the output that vary with the structural design, the reasons for such changes, and variations in performance based on the parts of the human body. In addition, the level of electrical energy generated based on motion type was measured; a maximum voltage of 30 V and a current of 2 ㎂ were generated. Finally, the proposed device was utilized in LEDs used for lighting, thus demonstrating that multi-axial mechanical energies can be harvested effectively. Based on the results, we expect that the developed device can be utilized as a sensor to detect mechanical energies, to sense changes in motion, or as a generator for auxiliary power supply for mobile devices.

  • Recently, as the heterogeneous network (HetNet) has been deployed widely to support various kinds of Radio Access Networks(RANs) with a combination of Macro, Pico, and/or Femto cells, research and standardization efforts have been very active regarding the concept of Licensed Shared Access (LSA) for supporting spectrum sharing. In order for a mobile device to efficiently support the spectrum sharing, the mobile device shall be reconfigurable, meaning that its radio application code has to be adaptively changed in accordance with the hopping of desired spectral band. Especially, Working Group 2 (WG2) of Technical Committee (TC) Reconfigurable Radio System (RRS) of European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has been a main driving force for developing standard architecture for Multi-mode Mobile Device (MD) that can be applied to the LSA system. In this paper, we introduce the Multi-mode MD architecture for supporting LSA-based spectrum sharing. An implementation of a test-bed of Multi-mode MD is presented in order to verify the feasibility of the standard MD architecture for the purpose of LSA-based spectrum sharing through various experimental tests.

  • The great development of semiconductor industry demands the high efficiency and performance of related device, but the pick and place system of semiconductor packaging device can load a few units until nowdays. Although the system can load a lot of units, it can work multiple sort operation. The defect like that causes a low efficiency. Therefore, this paper represents the development of pick and place system which can work multiple sort operation.

Usefulness of Non-Invasive Measurement Tool on Performance Evaluation of Inverter Type X-ray Unit (인버터식 X선장치의 성능평가 시 비접속형 측정기의 유용성)

  • Purpose: As the demand of a simple and precise method increases to evaluate the performance of the inverter type x-ray unit, we evaluated the usefulness of the recently-introduced X-ray Multi-Function Test Device (moldel : Xi (unfors)-prestige). Method: We compared the performance of X-ray Multi-Function Test Device (XMFTD) which is non-inveasive type device with the performance of Dynalyzer III that has been most widely used inveasive type measure device. Result: X-ray output dose was increased a little in the XMFTD, but both devices were below the performance evaluation standard, 0.002 in the output reproducibility. Linearity of XMFTD were below 0.1 which means that Dynalyzer III showed more excellency in linearity. As the the accuracy of exposure factor, 1.8 and 2 tube voltage, 2.01 and 2.3 tube current were measured. The exposure time was also measured by 0.01 sec ${\pm}10%$. Both devices were within the acceptance of performance evaluatioin standard. Conclusion: We proved the usefulness of X-ray Multi-Function Test Device (model: Xi (unfors)-prestige) to evaluated the performance on reproductibility and linearity of X-ray output and accuracy of exposure factor of inverter type unit.
