In this article, the uplink achievable rate is investigated for massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) under correlated Ricean fading channel, where each base station (BS) and user are both deployed multiple antennas. Considering the availability of prior knowledge at BS, two different channel estimation approaches are adopted with and without prior knowledge. Based on these channel estimations, a two-layer decoding scheme is adopted with maximum ratio precoding as the first layer decoder and optimal second layer precoding in the second layer. Based on two aforementioned channel estimations and two-layer decoding scheme, the exact closed form expressions for uplink achievable rates are computed with and without prior knowledge, respectively. These derived expressions enable us to analyze the impacts of line-of-sight (LoS) component, two-layer decoding, data transmit power, pilot contamination, and spatially correlated Ricean fading. Then, numerical results illustrate that the system with spatially correlated Ricean fading channel is superior in terms of uplink achievable rate. Besides, it reveals that compared with the single-layer decoding, the two-layer decoding scheme can significantly improve the uplink achievable rate performance.
The paper investigates the problem of designing the multiple-antenna relay in a two-way relay network by taking into account the imperfect channel state information (CSI). The objective is to design the multiple-antenna relay based upon the CSI estimates, where the estimation errors are included to attain the robust design under the worst-case philosophy. In particular, the worst-case transmit power at the multiple-antenna relay is minimized while guaranteeing the worst-case quality of service requirements that the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at both sources are above a prescribed threshold value. Since the worst-case received SNR expression is too complex for subsequent derivation and processing, its lower bound is explored instead by minimizing the numerator and maximizing the denominator of the worst-case SNR. The aforementioned problem is mathematically formulated and shown to be nonconvex. This motivates the pursuit of semidefinite relaxation coupled with a randomization technique to obtain computationally efficient high-quality approximate solutions. This paper has shown that the original optimization problem can be reformulated and then relaxed to a convex problem that can be solved by utilizing suitable randomization loop. Numerical results compare the proposed multiple-antenna relay with the existing nonrobust method, and therefore validate its robustness against the channel uncertainty. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed design and the associated influencing factors are discussed by means of extensive Monte Carlo simulations.

In this paper, we proposed a trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM system with multiple transmit/receive antenna diversity technique, which is simple and suitable for indoor wireless communications. The proposed multiple transmit/receive antenna diversity technique is that the transmitter sends a trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM signal from multiple transmitting antennas with intentional time delays, which makes a receiver possible to distinguish and combine the signals from different antennas. In wireless indoor communication system, if we allow the increase of the complexity of the system, it is also possible to achieve additional diversity gain in the performance with the combination of the proposed technique and the conventional receiving antenna diversity. Furthermore, we have found that the proposed trellis coded Multi-Carrier CDMA 16 QAM system, which employs multiple transmit/receive antenna, is less sensitive to the multiple user interference and fading than conventional receiving antenna diversity systems.

Intensive researches on multiuser-based Massive MIMO are performed to increase the spectral efficiency. Although the Massive MIMO scheme based on huge number of antennas inevitably causes hardware and computational complexity in baseband and radio frequency (RF) elements, the problem can be mitigated without serious performance degradation by limiting the number of baseband and RF elements below the number of transmit antennas of base station and opportunistically selecting transmit antennas according to channel states. Accordingly, this paper proposes a simple antenna selection scheme for multiuser-based Massive MIMO systems.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive Beamforming Algorithm, called MC-LMS, for adaptive antenna applied to an MC-CDMA system. New method for updating the weight vector based on the MSE criterion is derived. Computer simulations show that MC-LMS algorithm is capable of rejecting co-channel interference that affects the MC-CDMA system. Thus, the BER performance of the MC-CDMA system is much higher than that of the MC-CDMA system without using adaptive antenna and that of the DS-CDMA system with adaptive antenna in multi-path Rayleigh fading channel.

The effect of inter-channel coupling in multi-channel monopulse receiver is expected to increase by miniaturization trend of receiver. Therefore, in this paper, calibration method is proposed to compensation for inter-channel coupling in receiver of monopulse radar. And it can prevent distortion of angle information of target. Hardware configuration that consists of switch, directional coupler, matched load, ADC(Analog to Digital Converter), signal source of calibration is proposed to calibration. Total nine scattering parameters are obtained by controlling the switch and signal source of calibration. After that, method for restoring the undistorted signal is proposed using the mathematical relationship between the monopulse signal output from the antenna and the monopulse signal passing through the multi-channel receiver in the presence of inter-channel coupling.

Cooperative diversity is a novel technique to improve diversity gains, capacity gains, and energy saving. This technique involves multiple terminals sharing resources in order to build a virtual antenna array in a distributed fashion. In this paper, we propose a multi-user cooperative diversity protocol called Relay-assisted Multiple Access Channel(R-MAC) that allows multiple source terminals to transmit their signals simultaneously and the relay terminal forwards the aggregated signal received from the source terminals to the destination terminal. The proposed protocol converts the distributed antenna channels into an effective MIMO channel by exploiting a relay, increasing both diversity gain and system throughput. We investigate the performance of the proposed protocol in terms of outage probability and diversity-multiplexing tradeoff where we assume block fading channel environment. Our simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms direct transmission in the high spectral efficiency regime where the conventional cooperative diversity protocols cannot outperform direct transmission.

In this paper, we consider a physical layer security of an amplify-and-forward (AF) transmission in a presence of an eavesdropper in a wiretap channel. The proposed wiretap channel consists of a source, a destination, a relay, and an eavesdropper. Specifically, we consider that the relay has multiple antennas to exploit a diversity gain and a receive/transmit antenna selection schemes are applied to maximize a signal-to-noise ratio. In a practical point of view, we focus on the practical scenario where the relay does not have any channel state information of the eavesdropper while performing an AF protocol at the relay. For a secrecy performance analysis, we analyze a secrecy outage probability of the proposed system in one-integral form and verify our analysis with the computer-based simulation.
This paper presents the 8-channel active module operated in Ka-band. The module is designed for the mobile satellite communication antenna systems, and the module structure has the merit to minimize the size and weight of the antenna systems by 30% compared with the conventional systems using the active module composed of single channel. This module was designed to be optimally operated by prohibiting the electrical interference among the individual channels. From the test results of the fabricated 8-channel active module, it can be confirmed that the maximum channel gain error is ${\pm}1.3dB$, the minimum channel output power is 21.5dBm, and the maximum gain variation by phase control is ${\pm}1.0dB$.

In this paper, we propose a multiple dual-polarized antenna system for multi-user transmission in line-of-sight (LoS) dominant channel environments. By exploiting space and polarization resources efficiently, the proposed system achieves a higher sum rate than the existing multi-user multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) system with uni-polarized antennas.
