PDP용 반파 공진형 멀티출력 하프브리지 컨버터의 다중 공진특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Multi-resonant characteristics of Half-wave Resonant Type Multi-output ZVS HB Converter for the Plasma Display Panel)

  • In recent years, having the advantages of being small, low in cost and high in efficiency, Half-wave resonant type, (having only one output diode), is used in ZVS Half-Bridge DC/DC converter. This paper presents the operation mode by multi-resonant factors in the Half-wave type multi-resonant converter with direct Buck chopper circuit operated in discontinuous current mode. To study the characteristics of a multi-resonant operation in steady-state, the characteristic impedances in each mode and safe operation-region(S.O.R) are reported. Computer simulation and experimental data are also riven to verify the theoretical results.

  • The multi-resonant(MR) converter has a characteristics that the parasitic components existing in the converter are absorbed into the resonant circuits. The designed MR converter could be got a high efficiency and a high power density because the switching power losses are reduced effectively due to resonant switching circuit. However, the high resonant voltage stress of switching power devices leads to the conduction loss. In this paper, it is proposed the novel alternated(AT) flyback multi-resonant converter to overcome such a drawback. The suggested converter dc input is divided by two series input filter capacitors. The resonant stress voltage is reduced to 2-3 times the input voltage without any complexity and it provides the various circuit schemes in lots of applications. The proposed flyback MR converter is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • This paper illustrates the analysis and design of a multi-resonant converter applied to an electric vehicle (EV) charger. Thanks to the notch resonant characteristic, the multi-resonant converter achieve soft switching and operate with a narrowed switching frequency range even with a wide output voltage range. These advantages make it suitable for battery charging applications. With two more resonant elements, the design of the chosen converter is more complex than the conventional LLC resonant converter. However, there is not a distinct design outline for the multi-resonant converters in existing articles. According to the analysis in this paper, the normalized notch frequency $f_{r2n}$ and the second series resonant frequency $f_{r3n}$ are more sensitive to the notch capacitor ratio q than the notch inductor ratio k. Then resonant capacitors should be well-designed before the other resonant elements. The peak gain of the converter depends mainly on the magnetizing inductor ratio $L_n$ and the normalized load Q. And it requires a smaller $L_n$ and Q to provide a sufficient voltage gain $M_{max}$ at ($V_{o\_max}$, $P_{o\_max}$). However, the primary current increases with $(L_nQ)^{-1}$, and results in a low efficiency. Then a detailed design procedure for the multi-resonant converter has been provided. A 3.3kW prototype with an output voltage range of 50V to 500V dc and a peak efficiency of 97.3 % is built to verify the design and effectiveness of the converter.

다중공진회로를 이용한 고효율 DC-DC 컨버터 (High-Efficiency DC-DC Converter using the Multi-Resonant-Circuit)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중공진회로를 이용한 고효율 DC-DC 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 컨버터는 하프브리지 전력구조이며 컨버터의 고효율화를 위해 2개의 인덕터(LL)와 1개의 커패시터(C)로 구성된 다중공진회로를 이용한다. 이 다중공진회로는 동작모드에 따라, 각각의 공진주파수를 가진 직렬회로 형태의 공진회로를 각각 형성한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저, 동작모드와 정상상태 기본파 근사 모델링에 의해 제안한 컨버터의 동작원리를 설명한다. 그다음 이에 근거하여 제안한 컨버터의 설계예시를 보인다. 그리고 설계된 회로 파라미터에 의해 제작된 프로토타입 컨버터의 실험결과를 통하여 제안한 컨버터의 고효율 DC-DC 전력변환 동작특성을 입증한다.

AT 포워드 다중 공진형 컨버터의 동작 특성 (The operational characteristics of the AT Forward Multi-Resonant Converter)

  • The multi-resonant converter(MRC) minimizes a parasitic oscillation by using the resonant tank circuit absorbed parasitic reactances existing in a converter circuit. So it si possible that the converter operated at a high frequency has a high efficiency because the losses are reduced. Such a MHz high frequency applications provide a high power density [W/inch3] of the converter. But the resonant voltage stress across a switch of the resonant tank circuit is 4~5 times a input voltage. This h호 voltage stress increases the conduction loss because of on-resistance of a MOSFET with higher rating. Thus, in this paper we proposed the alternated multi-resonant converter (AT MRC) differ from the clamp mode multi-resonant converter and applicated it to the forward MRC. The AT forward MRC can reduce the voltage stress to 2~3 times a input voltage by using two series input capacitor. The control circuit is simple because tow resonant switches are driven directly by the output pulse of the voltage controled oscillator. This circuit type is verified through the experimental converter with 48V input voltage, 5V/50W output voltage/power and PSpice simulation. the measured maximum voltage stress is 170V of 2.9 times the input voltage and the maximum efficiency of 81.66% is measured.

  • This paper describes a Cross-regulation characteristics of a multi-output LLC resonant converter widely used in consumer electronics. The output characteristics of the multi-output LLC converter is derived from the assumption that the current and voltage in the resonant network is sinusoidal and the duty loss exists. The simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the theoretic results.

다중 공진 광대역 음향변환기의 대역폭 개선 (Bandwidth Improvement of a Multi-resonant Broadband Acoustic Transducer)

  • A multi-resonant broadband acoustic transducer with six Tonpilz elements operating at different resonant frequencies in a transducer assembly was fabricated, tested, and analyzed. A compensated transducer, modified by adding series inductance to the developed multi-resonant broadband transducer, was shown to provide improved bandwidth performance with a relatively more uniform frequency response compared with the uncompensated transducer. By controlling the series inductance, flat frequency response characteristics at two frequency bands were obtained over the range 38-52 kHz with 1.1 mH inductance and 50-60 kHz with 0.4 mH inductance. These results suggest that the operating frequency of the developed multi-resonant broadband transducer in a chirp echo sounder can be shifted to a different frequency band that is optimized according to the environment for more effective echo surveys of fishing grounds.

  • 본 논문에서는 다 출력 LLC 공진 컨버터의 동작 특성 대해 서술하였고 분석하였다. 특히 다 출력 변압기의 2차 측 인덕턴스와 여러 부하조건에 따른 영향에 의해 다 출력 LLC 공진 컨버터의 전압이득특성 및 등가공진주파수가 변한다. 따라서 출력이 다 출력일 때 부하에 따른 공진 특성 변화와 이득 변화를 확인하였고, 또한 부하 동 특성을 고려한 설계와 전압이득 특성을 기본으로 하여 42인치 PDP TV용 전원에 540W 3-output LLC 공진컨버터를 적용하여 실험한 결과를 보였다.

  • In order to improve the reliability and the stability of static power conversion system, further to optimize the operational characteristics of the system, it is very important to investigate the effects (output and switching component characteristics) of each parameters in the system. Therefore this paper particualrly deals with the characteristics of a novel ZVS multi-resonant conversion system to duty cycle, resonant capacitance, resonant inductance, and output capacitance. The results show that resonant inductance and output capacitance are dominat factors in the system.
