In this Paper, outdoor position estimation system was implemented using GPS (Global Positioning System) and INS (Inertial Navigation System). GPS position information has lots of errors by interference from obstacles and weather, the surrounding environment. To reduce these errors, multiple GPS system is used. Also, the Discrete Wavelet Transforms was applied to INS data for compensation of its error. In this paper, position estimation of the mobile robot in the straight line is conducted by EKF (Extended Kalman Filter). However, curve running position estimation is less accurate than straight line due to phase change in rotation. The curve is recognized through the rate of change in heading angle and the position estimation precision of the initial curve was improved by UPF (Unscented Particle Filter). In the case of UPF, if the number of particle is so many that big memory gets size is needed and processing speed becomes late. So, it only used the position estimation in the initial curve. Thereafter, the position of mobile robot in curve is estimated through switching from UPF to EKF again. Through the experiments, we verify the superiority of the system and make a conclusion.

In this contribution, an integration of seamless navigation system for the pedestrian is introduced. To overcome the GPS outages in various situations, multi-sensor of GPS, INS, electronic barometer and compass are considered in one Extented Kalman filter. Especially, the integrated system is designed for low-cost for the practical applications. Therefore, a MEMS IMU is considered, and the low quality of the heading is compensated by the electronic compass. In addition, only the pseudoranges from GPS measurements are considered for possible real-time application so that the degraded height is also controlled by a barometer. The mathematical models for each sensor with systematic errors such as biases, scale factors are described in detail and the results are presented in terms of a covariance analysis as well as the position and attitude errors compared to the high-grade GPS/INS combined solutions. The real application scenario of GPS outage is also investigated to assess the feasible accuracy with respect to the outage period. The description on the current status of the development and future research directions are also stated.
In order to determine home delivery service routes, conditions specified for each parcel such as customer-assigned delivery times and parcel contents should be considered, so the conventional route search algorithms have some limits to be applied for home delivery services. In this study, a multi-purpose route searching algorithm is suggested in order to deal with every requirement of deliveries that vary in delivery distances, contents and appointed times. A simulation study to verify the performances of the system with example data of Seoul and Kyungki provinces shows that it significantly improves the customer satisfaction and the productivity of delivery businesses.
Recently, DGPS or RTK-GPS techniques enable us to use satellite based positioning systems with high accuracy. But in urban area, navigation systems suffer from problems such as signal blockage by high-rise buildings, multi-path problems, and so on. So we have to know numbers of visible satellites and quality of signals received at the ground level in urban area as accurate as possible. In this paper, we developed a simulation system called LoQAS [Location service Quality Assessment System, 2002, the University of Tokyo] which can simulate numbers of visible satellites and DOP values using accurate satellite orbital data and 3-D digital map. In this time, we evaluated this system and extended it to deal with reflected signals to assess multi-path problems.

This paper presents a design of a real-time software GPS receiver which runs on a PC. The software GPS receiver has advantages over conventional hardware based receivers in terms of flexibility and efficiency in application oriented system design and modification. In odor to reduce the processing time of the software operations in the receiver, a shared memory structure is used with a dynamic data control, and the byte-type IF data is processed through an Open Multi-Processing technique in the mixer and integrator which requires the most computational load. A high speed data acquisition device is used to capture the incoming high-rate IF signals. The FFT-IFFT correlation technique is used for initial acquisition and FLL assisted PLL is used for carrier tracking. All software modules are operated in sequence and are synchronized with pre-defined time scheduling. The performance of the designed software GPS receiver is evaluated by running it in real-time using the real GPS signals.
As PRC linear interpolation algorithm is applied after analysed and verified in this paper, the unknown location of a user can be identified by using PRC information of multi-DGPS reference station. The PRC information of each GPS satellite is not varying rapidly, which makes it possible to assume that PRC information of each GPS satellite varies linearly. So, the PRC regeneration algorithm with linear interpolation can be applied to improve the accuracy of finding a user's location by using the various PRC information obtained from multi-DGPS reference station. The desirable PRC is made by the linear combination with the known position of multi-DGPS reference station and PRC values of a satellite using signals from multi-DGPS reference station. The RTK-GPS result was used as the reference. To test the performance of the linearly interpolated PRC regeneration algorithm, multi-channel DGPS beacon receiver was built to get a user's position more exactly by using PRC data of maritime DGPS reference station in RTCM format. At the end of this paper, the result of the quantitative analysis of the developed navigation algorithm performance is presented.

The UGV is one of the special field robot developed for mine detection, surveillance and transportation. To achieve successfully the missions of the UGV, the accurate and reliable navigation data should be provided. This paper presents design and implementation of multi-sensor-based open architecture integrated navigation for localization of UGV. The presented architecture hierarchically classifies the integrated system into four layers and data communications between layers are based on the distributed object oriented middleware. The navigation manager determines the navigation mode with the QoS information of each navigation sensor and the integrated filter performs the navigation mode-based data fusion in the filtering process. Also, all navigation variables including the filter parameters and QoS of navigation data can be modified in GUI and consequently, the user can operate the integrated navigation system more usefully. The conventional GPS/INS integrated system does not guarantee the long-term reliability of localization when GPS solution is not available by signal blockage and intentional jamming in outdoor environment. The presented integration algorithm, however, based on the adaptive federated filter structure with FDI algorithm can integrate effectively the output of multi-sensor such as 3D LADAR, vision, odometer, magnetic compass and zero velocity to enhance the accuracy of localization result in the case that GPS is unavailable. The field test was carried out with the UGV and the test results show that the presented integrated navigation system can provide more robust and accurate localization performance than the conventional GPS/INS integrated system in outdoor environments.
In this paper, the linearly interpolated PRC(Pseudo Range Correction) regenerating algorithm was applied to improve the DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) positioning accuracy at user's spot by using the various PRC information obtained from multi-DGPS reference stations. The PRC information of each GPS satellite is not varying rapidly; it is possible to assume that the variation of PRC information of each GPS satellite is linear. So the linearly interpolated PRC regenerating algorithm can be applied to improve the DGPS positioning accuracy at user's spot by using the various PRC information obtained from multi-DGPS reference stations. To test the performance of the linearly interpolated PRC regenerating algorithm, maritime DGPS reference stations' PRC data was used in RTCM format. 11 maritime DGPS reference stations are in service providing DGPS information to public since 1999. Two set of 3 DGPS reference stations are selected to compare the performance of the linearly interpolated PRC regenerating algorithm. The DGPS positioning accuracy was dramatically improved about 40%. Linearly interpolated PRC regenerating algorithm adopted multi-channel DGPS receiver will be developed in near future.
A series of experiments have been carried out by using National Geographic Information Institute(NGII)'s Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) data with various strategies to analyze the impact of multi-GNSS measurements on baseline processing. The results of baseline processing were compared in terms of ambiguity fixing rate, precision, and hypothesis tests were conducted to confirm the statistical difference. The combination of multi-GNSS measurements has helped to improve ambiguity fixing rate, especially under harsh positioning environments. Combination of GPS, Galileo, BeiDou could get better precision than that of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and adding QZSS made the baseline solution's vertical component more precisely. The hypothesis tests have statistically confirmed that the inclusion of the multi-GNSS in the baseline processing enables not only to reduce field observation time length but also to enhance the solution's precision. However, it is of interest to notice that results of the baseline solution are dependent upon the software used. Hence, comprehensive studies should be performed shortly to derive the best practice to select the appropriate software.

KOMPSAT (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite)-5 for the earth observation and scientific research is scheduled to launch in 2009. The second payload, AOPOD (Atmosphere Occultation and Precision Orbit Determination) system, consists of a space-borne dual frequency GPS receiver and a laser retro reflector. GPS radio occultations from AOPOD system can be used to generate profiles of refractivity, temperature, pressure and water vapor in the neutral atmosphere with a high vertical resolution. Also the radio occultation in the ionosphere provides an inexpensive tool of vertical electron density profile. Currently, many LEO missions with GPS radio occultation receivers are on orbit and more GPS occultation missions are planed to launch in the near future. In this paper, we simulated radio occultation measurements from KOMPSAT-5 and retrieved atmospheric profiles using the simulated data.
