Development of Displacement Measurement System of Structures Using Image Processing Techniques (영상처리기술을 이용한 구조물의 변위 측정 시스템의 개발)

  • In this paper, we develop the displacement measurement system of multiple moving objects based on image processing techniques. The image processing method adopts inertia moment theory for obtaining the centroid measurement of the targets and basic processing algorithm of gray, binary, closing, labeling and so on. To get precise displacement measurement in spite of multiple moving targets, a CGD camera with zoom is used and the position of camera is changed by a pan/tilt system. The fiducial marks on the fixed positions are used as the sensing points for the image processing to recognize the position errors in direction of XY-coordinates. The precise alignment device is pan/tilt of XY-type and the pan/tilt is controlled by DC servomotors which are driven by a microprocessor. Morover, the centers of fiducial marks are obtainted by an inertia moment method. By applying the developed precise position control system for multiple targets, the displacement of multiple moving targets are detected automatically and are also stored in the database system in a real time. By using database system and internet, the displacement datum can be confirmed at a great distance and analyzed. Finally, the effectiveness of developed system is shown in experimental results and realized the precision about 0.12[mm] in the position control of XY-coordinates.

  • The paper introduces a development result for displacement measurement system of multiple moving objects based on image processing technique. Moving Object Extraction and Distance Measurement in Stereo Vision System (스테레오 비젼 시스템에서의 이동객체 추출 및 거리 측정)

  • In this paper, we present a method to extract a moving object and to measure the distance to it by using the stereo vision system. The moving factor is to be extracted through a match of a pixel unit for the moving object where the adaptive threshold is effectively dealt with to remove changes in the brightness of the image. The distance to moving object is measured by using a stereo vision system which employs a parallel camera. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm could be effectively applied to distance measurement to moving object because it has an average error of one percent.

  • In general, the swing motion of the crane is controlled and suppressed by activating the trolley motion. In many papers reported by us, we suggested a new type of anti-sway control system of the crane. In the proposed control system, a small auxiliary mass(moving-mass) is installed on the spreader and the swing motion is controlled by moving the auxiliary mass. The actuator reaction against the auxiliary mass applies inertial control forces to the container in order to reduce the swing motion in the desired manner. The measuring system is based on laser sensor or others. However it is not so useful in real world. Especially, in this paper, the image sensor is used to measures the motions of the spreader and the measured data are fed back to the controller in real time. The applied image processing technique is a kind of robust template matching method which is named Vector Code Correlation (VCC) and devised to consider the real environmental conditions. And the $H_{\infty}$ based control technique is applied to suppress swing motion of the crane. And the experimental result shows that the proposed measurement system based on image sensor and control system is useful and robust to disturbances.

  • It has been highly required to develope an automatic metal surface inspection system, specifically using image processing techniques, which can replace the visual inspection method in the steel industry. In this paper, we propose a precisional surface measurement system using the moving average image processing technique. When the surface patterns which are generated in the rolling process of metal plates are recognized as defects, the proposed system can measure the actual number of defects. It has been proved that our system shows better results than the conventional FFT method.

  • By setting a refractor with a certain angle against the optical axis of the CCD camera lens, the image of a measuring point recorded on the image plane is displaced by the corresponding amounts related to the distance between the camera and the measuring point. When the refractor that keeps the angle against the optical axis is rotated physically at high speed during the exposure of the camera, the image of a measuring point draws an annular streak.   • Recently, we proposed a 3-D range-image measuring system for a slowly moving object by mechanically scanning a laser light beam emitted from a self mixing laser diode. In this paper, we introduced that every object moves along a straight line course, which is set diagonally against the semiconductor laser beam so that we can recognize each shape and size parameters of objects separately from the acquired 3-D range-image. We measured a square mesa on a square plane as an object. The measured velocity was 4.44mm/s and 4.63mm/s with an error of 0.56mm/s to 0.37mm/s. And thickness error of the mesa was 0.5mm to 0.6mm, which was obtained from the 3-D range-image of the standstill or moving object with thickness of 17.Omm.

  • In this study, a new algorithm for measuring the velocity and distance from a camera to a moving object by using pseudo-stereo images obtained from a single camera with a stereo adapter is proposed. The proposed system is similar to a parallel visual stereo system using a two-camera system, but because this system can obtain pseudo-stereo images form a single camera, it has advantages not only in the aspect of cost but also in stereo conformity by arrangement and the calibration of the left and right stereo cameras upon image processing.

  • In this paper, a new algorithm for the segmentation of the multi moving objects at the 3 dimension space and the method of measuring the distance from the camera to the moving object by using stereo video monitoring system is proposed. It get the input image of left and right from the stereo video monitoring system, and the area of the multi moving objects segmented by using adaptive threshold and PRA(pixel recursive algorithm). Each of the object segmented by window mask, then each coordinate value and stereo disparity of the multi moving objects obtained from the window masks. The distance of the multi moving objects can be calculated by this disparity, the feature of the stereo vision system and the trigonometric function. From the experimental results, the error rate of a distance measurement be existed within 7.28%, therefore, in case of implementation the proposed algorithm, the stereo security system, the automatic moving robot system and the stereo remote control system will be applied practical application.

  • In this paper, the 3-D measurement method of moving object with a laser and one camera system for image processing method is presented. The method of segmentation image in conventional method, the error are generated by the threshold values. In this paper, to improve these problem for segmentation image, the calculation of weighting factor using brightness distribution by histogram of stored images are proposed. Therefore the image erosion and spread are improved, the correct and reliable informations can be measured. In this paper, the system of 3-D extracting information using the proposed algorithm can be applied to manufactory automation, building automation, security guard system, and detecting information system for all of the industry areas.
