In this work, the new algorithm that automatically extracts moving object of the video image is presented. In order to extract moving object, it is that velocity vectors correspond to each frame of the video image. Using the estimated velocity vector, the position of the object are determined. the value of the coordination of the object is initialized to the seed, and in the image plane, the moving object is automatically segmented by the region growing method. As the result of an application in sequential images, it is available to extract a moving object.

Real-time object detection for distinguishing a moving object of interests from the background image in still image or video image sequence is an essential step to a correct object tracking and recognition. Moving cast shadow can be misclassified as part of objects or moving objects because the shadow region is included in the moving object region after object segmentation. For this reason, an algorithm for shadow removal plays an important role in the results of accurate moving object detection and tracking systems. To handle with the problems, an accurate algorithm based on the features of moving object and shadow in color space is presented in this paper. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective to detect a moving object and to remove shadow in test video sequences.

For the research field of night infrared surveillance video, the target imaging in the video is easily affected by the light due to the characteristics of the active infrared camera and the classical ViBe algorithm has some problems for moving target extraction because of background misjudgment, noise interference, ghost shadow and so on. Therefore, an improved ViBe algorithm (I-ViBe) for moving target extraction in night infrared surveillance video is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the video frames are sampled and judged by the degree of light influence, and the video frame is divided into three situations: no light change, small light change, and severe light change. Secondly, the ViBe algorithm is extracted the moving target when there is no light change. The segmentation factor of the ViBe algorithm is adaptively changed to reduce the impact of the light on the ViBe algorithm when the light change is small. The moving target is extracted using the region growing algorithm improved by the image entropy in the differential image of the current frame and the background model when the illumination changes drastically. Based on the results of the simulation, the I-ViBe algorithm proposed has better robustness to the influence of illumination. When extracting moving targets at night the I-ViBe algorithm can make target extraction more accurate and provide more effective data for further night behavior recognition and target tracking.

In this paper, a robust correlation-based video tracking is proposed to track a moving object in correlated image sequences. A correlation-based video tracking algorithm seeks to align the incoming target image with the reference target block image, but has critical problems, so called a false-peak problem and a drift phenomenon (correlator walk-off. The false-peak problem is generally caused by highly correlated background pixels with similar intensity of a moving target and the drift phenomenon occurs when tracking errors accumulate from frame to frame because of the nature of the correlation process. At first, the false-peaks problem for the ordinary correlation-based video tracking is investigated using a simple mathematical analysis. And, we will suggest a robust selective-attention correlation measure with a gradient preprocessor combined by a drift removal compensator to overcome the walk-off problem. The drift compensator adaptively controls the template block size according to the target size of interest. The robustness of the proposed method for practical application is demonstrated by simulating two real-image sequences.
Moving objects in video data are main elements for video analysis and retrieval. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for tracking and segmenting moving objects in color image sequences that include complex camera motion such as zoom, pan and rotating. The Proposed algorithm is based on the Mean-shift color segmentation and stochastic region matching method. For segmenting moving objects, each sequence is divided into a set of similar color regions using Mean-shift color segmentation algorithm. Each segmented region is matched to the corresponding region in the subsequent frame. The motion vector of each matched region is then estimated and these motion vectors are summed to estimate global motion. Once motion vectors are estimated for all frame of video sequences, independently moving regions can be segmented by comparing their trajectories with that of global motion. Finally, segmented regions are merged into the independently moving object by comparing the similarities of trajectories, positions and emerging period. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is capable of segmenting independently moving objects in the video sequences including complex camera motion.

Recently, it has become an important problem to extract semantic objects from videos, which are useful for improving the performance of video compression and video retrieval. In this thesis, an automatic extraction method of moving objects of interest in video is suggested. We define that an moving object of interest should be relatively large in a frame image and should occur frequently in a scene. The moving object of interest should have different motion from camera motion. Moving object of interest are determined through spatial continuity by the AMOS method and moving histogram. Through experiments with diverse scenes, we found that the proposed method extracted almost all of the objects of interest selected by the user but its precision was 69% because of over-extraction.

In order to extract 3-dimensional information from 2-D image, stereo images are prerequisite. Moreover, for the measurement of moving objects, the synchronized sequential stereo images have to be captured and image matching should be implemented for determining the location of moving objects. In this research, a simple method computing 3-dimensional coordinates from sequential images of moving objects was implemented. The sequential stereo images were captured by a video camera with a beam splitter. Once video images were digitalized by frame grabber, the interest points were extracted and matched in each stereo image, and the coordinates of center of them are calculated using weighted average method. Then, 3-dimensional coordinates of moving objects were computed by DLT algorithms.
Video object segmentation is an important component for object-based video coding scheme such as MPEG-4. In this paper, a robust algorithm for segmentation of moving objects in video sequences and VOP(Video Object Planes) extraction is presented. The points of this paper are detection, of an accurate object boundary by associating moving object edge with spatial object edge and generation of VOP. The algorithm begins with the difference between two successive frames. And after extracting difference image, the accurate moving object edge is produced by using the Canny algorithm and morphological operation. To enhance extracting performance, we app]y the morphological operation to extract more accurate VOP. To be specific, we apply morphological erosion operation to detect only accurate object edges. And moving object edges between two images are generated by adjusting the size of the edges. This paper presents a robust algorithm implementation for fast moving object detection by extracting accurate object boundaries in video sequences.

In this paper, a novel algorithm for segmentation of moving multiple vehicles in video sequences using logic operations is proposed. For the case of multiple vehicles in a scene, the proposed algorithm begins with a robust double-edge image derived from the difference between two successive frames using exclusive OR operation. After extracting only the edges of moving multiple vehicles using Laplacian filter, AND operation and dilation operation, the image is segmented into moving multiple vehicle image. The features of moving vehicles can be directly extracted from the segmented images. The proposed algorithm has no the two preprocessing steps, so it can reduce noises which are norm at in preprocessing of the original images. The algorithm is more simplified using logic operations. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on an outdoor video sequence with moving multiple vehicles in 90,000 frames of 30fps by a low-end video camera and produces promising results.
We describe a practical implementation of DVR (Digital Video Recording) system. And we propose a new image compression algorithm, that input video signal is divided into two parts, a moving target and a non-moving background part to achieve efficient compression of image sequences. This algorithm reorganizes a target area and a back-ground area by use of Macro Block(MB) unit on encoding scheme. The proposed algorithm allows high quality image reconstruction at low bit rates.
