The ship wave phenomena in the restricted waterway were investigated by a numerical analysis. The Euler and continuity equations were employed for the present study. The boundary fitted and moving grid system was adopted to enhance the computational efficiency. The convective terms in the governing equations and the kinematic free surface boundary condition were solved by the Constrained Interpolated Profile (CIP) algorithm in order to solve accurately wave heights in far field as well as near field. The advantage of the CIP method was verified by the comparison of the computed results by the CIP and the Maker and Cell (MAC) method. The free surface flow simulation around Wigley hull was performed and compared with the experiment for the sake of the validation of the numerical method. The present numerical scheme was applied to the free surface simulation for various canal sections in order to understand the effect of the sectional shape of waterways on the ship waves. The wave heights on the side wall and the shape of the wave patterns with their characteristics of flow are discussed.

A three-dimensional multi-phase flow is simulated around a smooth tire. This simulation is conducted by solving Navier-Stokes equation with a k-$\varepsilon$ turbulent model. The numerical calculations are carried out by modeling a multi-phase free surface flow mixed with air and water at the inlet. The numerical solutions show an intuitively resonable behavior of water around a moving tire. The calculated pressure around the tire surface along the moving direction is presented. The moving velocities of the tire are chosen to be 30, 40, 60, and 70 km/h. The numerically simulated pressures around the tire are compared with existing experimental data. The comparison shows a new possible tool of analyzing a hydroplaning phenomenon for an automobile tire by means of a computational fluid dynamics.

In this study, the boundary element analysis in dynamics for the multilayered semi-infinite plane is developed using the fundamental solution for moving loads. Also the indirect method and superposition method are introduced to consider the multilayered systems and moving loads. At each layer the fundamental solution can be obtained by solving the governing equation which is transformed by the Fourier transform. The governing equation can be solved by three conditions; continuity conditions of displacement and stress, the traction free condition at the surface and the radiation condition at the surface and the radiation condition at the infinite distance. To verify the solution and the developed algorithm, the theoretical solution for the homogeneous layer and commercial FEM program is compared with the results of this study.

Boundary element method is applied to simulate nonlinear water waves using Green's identity formula in a numerical wave flume. A system of linear equations is formulated from the governing equation and free surface boundary conditions in order to calculate velocity potential and water surface elevation at each nodal point. The velocity square terms are included in the dynamic free surface boundary condition. The free surface is treated as a moving boundary. the vertical variation of velocity potential being considered in calculating the time derivative of the velocity potential at the free surface. The present method is applied to simulate solitary wave and Stokes 2nd order wave, and shows excellent agreements with their theoretical values.
The computation of moving interface by the level set method typically requires reinitializations of level set function. An inaccurate estimation of level set function ${\phi}$ results in incorrect free-surface capturing and thus errors such as mass gain/loss. Therefore, accurate and robust reinitialization process is essential to the free-surface flows. In the present paper, we pursue further development of the reinitialization process, which evaluates directly level set function ${\phi}$ using a normal vector in the interface without solving the re-distancing equation of hyperbolic type. The Taylor-Galerkin approximation and P1P1splitting FEM are adopted to discretize advection equation of the level set function and the Navier-Stokes equation, respectively. Advection equation of free surface and re-initialization process are validated with benchmark problems, i.e., a broken dam flow and time-reversed single vortex flow. The simulation results are in good agreement with the existing results.

Advection equation and re-initialization process of free surface capturing are validated with benchmark problems, i.e., a broken dam flow and timereversed single vortex flow. In this study, we provide a comprehensive review of the CIP(Constrained Interpolation Pro file/Cubic Interpolated Propagation) method with a pressure-based algorithm that is known as a general numerical solver for soled liquid, gas and plasmas. And also we introduce a body-fitted grid system(Soroban grid) for computation of strongly nonlinear marine hydrodynamic problems such as slamming water on deck, wave impact by green water. This grid system can keep the third-order accuracy in time and space with the help of the CIP method. The grid system consists of the straight lines and grid points. In the 2-dimensional grid case, each grid points moving in these lines like abacus - Soroban in Japanese. The length of each line can be different and the number of grid points in each line can be different. Mesh generation and searching of upstream departure point are very simple and possible to mesh-free treatment. To optimize computation of free-surface and multi-fluid flows, We adopt the C-CUP method. In most of the earlier computations, the C-CUP method was used with a staggered-grid approach. Here, because of the mesh free nature of the Soroban grid, we use the C-CUP method with a collocated-grid approach.

The flow fields inside a molten Zn pot of continuous hot-chip galvanizing process were investigated experimentally. With varying several parameters including the strip speed Vs, flow rate Q of induction heater. scrapper location and baffle configuration, instantaneous velocity fields were measured using a PIV velocity field measurement technique. Inside the strip region, counter-clockwise rotating flow is dominant. The general flow pattern inside the strip region is nearly not influenced by the strip speed Vs, flow rate Q and the scrapper location. In the exit region, the flow separated from the moving strip due to the existence of a stabilizing roll ascends to the free surface, for the cases of no scrapper and scrapper detached form the roll. On the other hand, the ascending flow to the free surface is decreased, as the flow rate Q of induction heater increases. By installing a baffle around the uprising strip, the flow moving up to the stabilizing roll decreases. In addition, B-type baffle is better than A-type baffle in reducing speed of flow around the stabilizing rolls. However, the flow ascended to the free surface is largely influenced by changing the flow rate Q, and the scrapper location, irrespective of the baffle type.
The techniques of joint mobilization and traction are used to improve joint mobility or to decrease pain by restoring accessory movements to the shoulder joints and thus allowing full, nonrestriced, pain-free range of motion. In the glenohumeral joint, the humeral head would be the convex surface, while the glenoid fossa would be the concave surface. The medial end of the clavicle is concave anterioposteriorly and convex superioinferiorly, the articular surface of the sternum is reciprocally curved. The acromioclavicular joint is a plane synovial joint between a small convex facet on lateral end of the clavicle and a small concave facet on the acromion of the scapula. The relationship between the shape of articulating joint surface and the direction of gliding is defined by the Convex-Concave Rule. If the concave joint surface is moving on a stationary convex surface, gliding occur in the same direction as the rolling motion. If the convex surface is moving on a stationary concave surface, gliding will occur in an opposite direction to rolling. Hypomobile shoulder joints are treated be using a gliding technique.

A two-dimensional higher order panel method using B-splines has been developed to overcome the disadvantages of the low order panel method and to obtain more accurate solution. The sources and the normal dipoles are distributed on both the body and the free surface. Instead of applying the upwind finite difference schemes to satisfy the linearized free surface and the radiation condition, the derivatives of the basis functions of the B-splines are directly applied to the linearized free surface condition. Numerical damping in the Dawson's method are avoided in the Present computations. In order to validate the present method, numerical computations are carried out for a submerged cylinder and a two-dimensional hydrofoil steadily moving beneath a free surface. The numerical results show that fast convergence and better accuracies have been achieved by the present method.
