전동휠체어의 벽면추종 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wall Following Method of the Motorized Wheelchair)

  • The objective of the research reported in this paper is to design locomotion system of the motorized wheelchair, to develope the wall following algorithm. The indoor navigation of a motorized wheelchair can be based on the wall following techniques. In this paper, it is proposed to enhance stability and efficiency using the 3 ultrasonic sensors arranged at a same perpendicular pivot. Using this method, the angle between the motorized wheelchair and the wall is detected and the range of control commands has been increased. For the better stability, the calculated slope of a wall using LSLF algorithm was fed back to the control part. By adapting the suggested algorithm and method, the motorized wheelchair could follow a wall in 4 seconds, for a change of distance between the wheelchair and wall from 30 to 100cm.

The wheelchair is basically a powered and folding, so it is designed to motorized manual wheelchair by modularity method. The wheelchair has been installed with a power motor module, battery module, and drive & control module. The goal of this project is to develop a wheelchair that has multifunction and operated disabled who has variety impairment. So we are currently working.

  • We developed electric wheelchair INMEL-VI which is motorized wheelchair for practical use. The field test results of long time show some problems to disabled in daily use. INMEL-VII is designed to solve the problems of INMEL-VI and to adjust condition by the Korean Industrial Standards about the motorized wheelchair. Especially, it is improved to have durability, driving safety, and convenience of manipulating. In the driving field test in indoors and outdoors, it has been estimated to have a high practical use for powered walking aids to disable's daily life.

  • In this paper, the wall follwing method of a motorized wheelchair is discussed. The wall fellowing problem is characterized by maintaining a constant distance to the wall, which should be possible using a distance measuring sensor only. Ultrasonic sensors are cheap are fairly simple to use in this case. The main problem is the calculation of the distance and orientation of the wheelchair with respect the wall from the sensor data. This is solved by the method that sensor data is obtained from 3 ultrasonic sensors arranged at a same perpendicular pivot. The results show that a new method is very effiecient for a motorized wheelchair.

  • In this study, Fuzzy control algorithm to generate a change of rocomotion condition according to an outer environment is introduced on a motorized wheelchair control. An optimal control rule for conquesting the less of safety and system Inefficiency in the past are given to this motorized wheelchair. And dynamic analysis Is also adopted to it. Using those rules, a proportional control was possible when the vehicle changed Its moving direction. The proposed method which considers the relationship between a moving velocity and the command from the joystick shows better performance in the change of moving direction.

  • A wheelchair is an essential rehabilitation assistant device for the movement of paraplegia patients and generally paralyzed patients who cannot walk normally. In particular, the applicability of the manual/motorized wheelchair is gradually increasing. Until now, decelerators using belt, chain and worm gears, etc have been widely used. However, a decelerator takes a large space although it is a simple device and thus is not ideal for the driving part of manual/motorized wheelchair. For these reasons, in this study we developed a driving part producing a large driving force through a decelerator using planetary gears rather than conventional worm gear-based decelerator. We designed the tooth profile of the planetary gears for decelerator using Kisssoft program, In addition, we designed the driving part so as to apply it to the wheels of conventional wheelchairs, and then optimized the mechanism for the principles of manual/motorized transposition of the driving part and the operational principles. Based on the results of this study, we finally designed and manufactured a driving part for wheelchair decelerator in the form of planetary gears with 1 sun gear, 2 planetary gears and 1 ring gear.

  • For the disabled persons who can't use their limbs, motorized wheelchair that is activated by voice recognition module employing speaker independent method, was implemented. The wireless voice transfer device was designed and employed for the user convenience. And the wheelchair was designed to operate using voice and keypad by selection of the user because they can manipulate it using keypad if necessary. The speaker independent method was used as the voice recognition module in order that anyone can manipulate the wheelchair in case of assistance. Using the implemented wheelchair, performance and motion of the system was examined and it has over than 97% of voice recognition rate and proper movements.
