  • Recently in the field of precision positioning device, the contact-free actuators are gaining focuses with their outstanding performances by eliminating mechanical frictions. Th is paper is about the driving algorithm for contact-free linear actuator. The proposed driving algorithm has similar structure of drives of switched reluctance motor and reduces the normal forces and force ripple. The simulation and experiment are executed to verify the proposed method.

  • In this paper, control strategies of the bridge-type ZVT inverter for AC motor drive application were discussed. The topology of the ZVT inverter is analyzed with a description of the control conditions based on the load current. And a new resonant control algorithm by using load current feedback and modified SVM algorithm for the proposed ZVT inverter is proposed in order to achieve the ZVT switching condition in full control range. The detailed computer simulation and experimental results represent that ZVT and ZCT operation for the main and auxiliary switch, respectively, was achieved.

  • This parer presents a cycloconverter with a LC resonant circuit for a induction motor drive. The cycloconverter can provide variable voltage and frequency three phase output while keeping the input displacement factor at 1.0. The input current wave for is are sinusoidal, and the wide output frequency range is appropriate for variable speed AC motor drives.

  • The intrinsic simplicity, ruggedness, and simple power electronic drive requirement of a switched reluctance motor (SRM) make it a viable use for many commercial adjustable speed applications. However, higher torque ripple is one of the few disadvantages of the SRM drives. This paper describes the robust control scheme that permits the phase torque flatted by adaptive reference model.

  • Several methods of induction motor drives which used speed estimators instead of shaft encoders have been reported. However those speed sensorless systems with estimators employing stator voltates and currents usually deteriorates as the speed gets lower because it is difficult to calculate the accurate rotor flux under the influence of DC-offset and saturation of integrators. In this paper to calculate rotor flux at low speed the new rotor flux estimator which replaces integra-tors with two lag circuits is proposed. Simulation and experiment results confirm the validity of this control scheme.

  • An integrated charger is used for bi-directional power conversion between an electric vehicle and a power grid. The proposed integrated charger works in a way that motor windings are utilized as filter inductances for charging/discharging of batteries in addition to the original purpose of motor drives. After a mathematical model of the integrated charger based on an dual winding induction machine (DWIM) is discussed, a current control method is designed for grid connection. The effectiveness of the proposed method is examined with simulation results.

  • A computational study of BLDC motor is presented to elucidate thermo-flow characteristics in winding and bearing with heat generation. Rotation of rotor and blades drives influx of ambient air into the rotor inlet and the inflow rates are predicted more at the front-side inlet than at the rear-side, which can be ascribed to the different pressure distribution. Recirculation zone appears in the tiny interfaces between windings, however, showing the enhanced cooling performance due to the higher velocity distribution near the rotor wall. In contrast, flow separation and incline angle of bearing groove, and relatively slower velocity distribution cause poor cooling performance and therefore the redesign of the bearing groove is significantly required.

  • The next generation domestic high speed railway system is a power distributed type and uses vector control method for motor speed control. Nowadays, inverter driven induction motor system is widely used. However, recently PMSM drives are deeply considered as a alternative candidate instead of an induction motor drive system due to their advantages in efficiency, noise reduction and maintenance. The next-generation high speed train is composed of 2 converter units, 4 inverter units, and 4 Traction Motor units. Each motor is connected to the inverter directly. In this paper, the effect of IPMSM parameter variations to the system operation characteristics of the multi inverter drive high speed train system are investigated. The parallel connected inverter input-output characteristics are analyzed to the parameter mismatches of IPMSM using the 1C1M control simulator based on Matlab/Simulink.
