히트파이프를 부착한 구동모터의 냉각성능에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Cooling Performance of the Driving Motor Utilizing Heat Pipe)

  • This research is to verify the cooling effect of the acting surface on the rotary motor using heat pipe and conventional cooling fan. In order to show the cooling performance of the rotary motor and heat pipe with the fin-typed heat sink, the surface temperature of the motor and condenser was measured in real time. The experiments were also conducted as for not only cooling device installed with heat pipe only, but with heat pipe and conventional cooling fan simultaneously. The present experiment reveals that the cooling combination of the heat pipe and cooling fan is far superior to the conventional cooling device for the driving motor such as the fin-typed heat sink. When the driving voltage of 20V and 14V were supplied to the driving motor, the cooling performance of the rotary motor with heat pipe was 170% and 500%, respectively better than that without heat pipe on steady state condition.

  • Generally, A motor integrated spindle is selected to perform the high speed machining, to improve the machining flexibility, and to simplify the structure of machine tools. The thermal deformation caused by heat generation of the integrated motor is, however, serious problem in motor integrated spindle system. In this study, cooling characteristics for the several kinds of cooling systems(such as, oil-jacket cooling, air cooling) are investigated and more efficient cooling method is presented. The results show that the shaft cooling by the air cooling system is effective to improve the thermal characteristic of motor integrated spindle.

  • In a small centrifugal compressor system, a high-speed motor needs to be developed to drive impellers directly. Heat is generated by both electrical heating due to copper coil resistance and aerodynamic heating in the gap between the rotor and stator in a high-speed motor. Removal of the heat is essential to the design of such motors since most magnetic materials are brittle and can be easily fractured by the heat. In the present study the cooling flow fields and temperature distributions are analyzed by using computational fluid dynamics simulation for a high-speed motor which has air cooling system as well as water cooling system. In the analysis, a conjugate heat transfer problem is solved by considering both convective heat transfer in the cooling system and conduction heat transfer in solid parts. Based on design drawings of a motor, air cooling system and water cooling system are analyzed to obtain temperature field and thus to check the coiling system performance. Also the cooling performance are studied for various flow rates of cooling air and water at the inlets.

  • 본 논문은 수중체용 냉각 시스템에 관하여 분석하고, 수중체에 최적화된 냉각 제어 알고리즘에 관하여 연구하였다. 수중체용 대용량 추진 전동기는 동손 및 철손으로 인해 발생하는 고열로부터 전동기를 안정적으로 보호하기 위해 청수를 이용한 냉각 시스템이 사용된다. 이 냉각 시스템은 전동기의 온도를 유지하기 위해 외부 환경 및 전동기의 회전수 유지시간에 따라 해수 및 청수 펌프 RPM을 조절한다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 냉각 시스템의 검증을 위한 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 구성하였으며, 다양한 제어 기법을 적용하여 냉각 수행 능력을 검증하였다. 그 결과 제안하는 냉각 알고리즘은 열적 안정성과 효율이 기존 냉각 알고리즘에 비해 높음을 확인하였다.

  • The crude oil pump system is the equipment for transporting crude oil and it consists of 3 major components, a motor and an impeller which discharge underground crude oil, a pipestack that transmits the cooling oil and power, and a cooling oil unit & junction box that provides cooling oil and electric power. When considering the system characteristics that it has to be installed at a depth of deeper than 100 m, a design technology for the efficient control of the heat occurring at a conductor and motor is necessary and it is the essential factor for ensuring system durability. In this paper, therefore, cooling oil flow has been calculated to satisfy the limit value of the system temperature by analyzing heat flow considering the related losses such as loss of conductor, contact resistor loss at the conductor connection, and operation loss of motor. And the operation temperature has been set up based on the temperature of crude oil and the heat of motor and conductor. Also, a design for cooling of crude oil pump system has been proposed by calculating the operation pressure loss and selecting the capacity of a cooling oil pump and a heat exchanger.

  • Recently, motor integrated spindle is often used in a high speed spindle system of machine tools in order to increase machining speed. The important problem in high speed motor integrated spindle is to reduce thermal effect occured by motor and ball bearings. In this study, the effect of heat transfer from motor is investigated. The experimental equipment is composed with oil-air lubrication method, air cooling system and angular contact ball bearings. The results show that the thermal effect in motor is larger than in ball bearing until DmN 8000,000 with air cooling.

  • The canned motor of 3-phase induction is used for main coolant pump(MCP). The type of motor is canned-motor that stator and rotor are welded by sealed can. So, cooling water flows in the air gap of the canned motor as an independent cycling cooling system from the air gap to yoke of the motor to prevent high temperature of stator can and to lubricate bearing. Heat exchange is occurred between cooling water in the air gap and cooling water from the exterior pump to prevent rising of temperature in the motor. I has to analyze the characteristics of can exactly because the loss and the heat in the can are very important to design MCP. Therefore, thermal analysis is studied considering the effect of eddy-current los induced in the can.

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEVs) have seriously come into prevalence recently as car manufacturers and consumers have become more aware of the environmental and economic problems of conventional vehicles. For the alternative power-train and battery cooling systems in HEVs, an effective thermal management system is required, and many automakers are interested in using Brushless DC(BLDC) motors for cooling fans for the overall traction unit's performance and energy saving capability. This paper presents the development status of BLDC motors as major parts of the power-train, i.e. the engine cooling and battery cooling fans of HEVs. A design that uses BLDC motors for the power-train and each battery cooling fan, is successfully implemented through using electro-magnetic analysis, and prototype BLDC motors are examined. As experimental results, the BLDC motors achieved an efficiency of 85% as engine cooling fans and 72% as a battery thermal management fan motor. The electric cogging noise is significantly reduced by changing the skew of the slot pitch angle and optimizing the magnetic shape.

  • This paper presents some measures far the optimization of the thermal behavior of linear motors, which are used as a high speed feed mechanism in machine tools. Thermo-Sandwich-Construction using two cooling circuits and an insulation layer shows an effective cooling system for linear motors. Conducting sheet can be also used to reduce heat flow from linear motor to machine table. Cooling pipe is a simple and effective cooling system for the secondary part of synchronous linear motor. Through the combination of the Thermo-Sandwich-Construction, conducting sheet and cooling pipe the thermally optimized linear motor shows a well improved thermal behavior in comparison with the prototype motor.
