The manufacturing errors such as pitch error and run-out error in planetary gear system bring about the irregular displacement of the center of each gear, which cause the torqe variation, vibration and noise. In this study, the relation between manufacturing errors and error motions of the center of gear was analyzed, and it can be applied to identyfy the errors of gears by investigating the measured locus of the center of each gear. Also, another identification method of power spectrum estimation using FFT algorithm was introduced, which analyze the frequency of the measured error motions. The results show that the error of each gear had a corresponding unique frequency, therefore, this method proved to be more effective.
This paper proposes a new fire-flame detection method using probabilistic membership function of visual features and Fuzzy Finite Automata (FFA). First, moving regions are detected by analyzing the background subtraction and candidate flame regions then identified by applying flame color models. Since flame regions generally have continuous and an irregular pattern continuously, membership functions of variance of intensity, wavelet energy and motion orientation are generated and applied to FFA. Since FFA combines the capabilities of automata with fuzzy logic, it not only provides a systemic approach to handle uncertainty in computational systems, but also can handle continuous spaces. The proposed algorithm is successfully applied to various fire videos and shows a better detection performance when compared with other methods.

In this work, we study the problem of privacy-preservation data publishing in moving objects databases. In particular, the trajectory of a mobile user in a plane is no longer a polyline in a two-dimensional space, instead it is a two-dimensional surface of fixed width $2A_{min}$, where $A_{min}$ defines the semi-diameter of the minimum spatial circular extent that must replace the real location of the mobile user on the XY-plane, in the anonymized (kNN) request. The desired anonymity is not achieved and the entire system becomes vulnerable to attackers, since a malicious attacker can observe that during the time, many of the neighbors' ids change, except for a small number of users. Thus, we reinforce the privacy model by clustering the mobile users according to their motion patterns in (u, ${\theta}$) plane, where u and ${\theta}$ define the velocity measure and the motion direction (angle) respectively. In this case, the anonymized (kNN) request looks up neighbors, who belong to the same cluster with the mobile requester in (u, ${\theta}$) space: Thus, we know that the trajectory of the k-anonymous mobile user is within this surface, but we do not know exactly where. We transform the surface's boundary poly-lines to dual points and we focus on the information distortion introduced by this space translation. We develop a set of efficient spatiotemporal access methods and we experimentally measure the impact of information distortion by comparing the performance results of the same spatiotemporal range queries executed on the original database and on the anonymized one.

This paper proposes a hologram data compression scheme that uses the existing image/video compression techniques, in which the existing techniques are modified appropriately to fit to the characteristics of hologram. In this paper we use CGH as the hologram data. The proposed scheme uses the generation characteristics of a CGH to consist of a pre-processing, spatial segmentation of a CGH, frequency-transformation with 2D-DCT (2-dimensional discrete cosine transform), and motion estimation and residual image generation in the frequency-domain. It uses H.264/AVC, the lossless compressor BinHex, and a linear quantizer that we have made. From the experiments the proposed scheme showed the image quality of about 25.4 dB at the compression ratio of 10:1 and about 16.5dB at 90:1 compression ratio.

In this study, the effect of the shape error of a guideway on the movement of a stage that uses an air bearing is analyzed. The shape error of moving parts supported by the air bearing is known not to affect the vibrations of moving parts as much as the magnitude of the shape error. This is called the "averaging effect." In this study, the effect of shape error on a guideway, as well as the averaging effect of an air-bearing system, is analyzed theoretically using a dynamic-analysis program. The dynamic-analysis program applies a commercially available code in COMSOL and solves the Reynolds equation between the stage and the guideway, along with the equation of motion of the stage. The stage is modeled as a two-degree-of-freedom system. The shape error is applied to the film thickness function in the form of a sine wave. The stage movement is analyzed using the fast Fourier transform process. The eccentricity and tilting are found to be proportional to the amplitude of the shape error of the guideway. Stage vibrations are less than 10% of the amplitude of the shape error on the guideway. This means that the averaging effect of the air bearing is verified quantitatively. Moreover, if the air supply position matches the shape error in the guideway, there is a notable change in eccentricity and tilting.
We present the computer table tennis game using player's swing motion. We need to transform a real world coordinate into a virtual world coordinate in order to hit the virtual ball. We can not get a correct 3-dimension position of racket in environment that using one camera or simple image processing. Therefore we use Augmented Reality (AR) concept to develop the game. This paper shows the AR table tennis game using gesture and method to develop the 3D interaction game that only using one camera without any motion detection device or stereo cameras. Also, we use a scan line method to recognize gesture for speedy processing. The game is developed using ARtoolkit and DirectX that is popular tool of SDK for game development.

In this paper, a variable motion estimation scheme based on HBMA(Hierarchical Block Matching Algorithm) to improve the performance and to reduce heavy computational and transmission load, is presented. The proposed algorithm is composed of four steps. First, block activity for each block is defined using the edge information of differential image between two sequential images, and then average block activity of the present image is found by taking the mean of block activity. Secondly, camera pan compensation is carried out, according to the average activity of the image, in the hierarchical pyramid structure constructed by wavelet transform. Next, the LUT classifying each block into one among Moving, No Moving, Semi-Moving Block according to the block activity compensated camera pan is obtained. Finally, as varying the block size and adaptively selecting the initial search layer and the search range referring to LUT, the proposed variable HBMA can effectively carries out fast motion estimation in the hierarchical pyramid structure. The cost function needed above-mentioned each step is only the block activity defined by the edge information of the differential image in the sequential images.

This paper proposes a composition method of mosaic image from the compressed MPEG-2 video stream, in which the displacement between successive frames according to the camera operation is estimated directly from the information involved in the stream. In the proposed method. the approximated optical flow is constructed from motion vectors of macro blocks, and it is used to determine the parameters of the displacements according to the camera operation associated with pan and tilt. The extracted parameters are used to determine the geometric transform of successive video frames in order to construct a mosaic image. The construction of mosaic uses several blending techniques including the one proposed by Nichols in which an analytic weight is used to determine pixel values. Through the experiment, the blending technique based on analytic weights was superior to the others such as averaging and median-based techniques. It provided more smooth changes in background and made use of instantaneous frame information to construct a mosaic. The mosaic in the paper puts the emphasis on the reduction of computation because it is constructed from the motion vectors included in the compressed video without decoding and recalculating exact optical flows. The constructed mosaic can be used in the retrieval of the compressed video as the representative frame of a shot.

DSC-HDTV image compression algorithm removes spatial, temporal, and amplitude redundancies of an image by using transform coding, motion-compensated predictive coding, and adaptive quantization, respectively. In this paper, leak processing method which is used to recover image quality quickly from scene change and transmission error and adaptive quantization using perceptual weighting factor obtained by HVS are proposed. Perceptual weighting factor is calculated by contrast sensitivity, spatio-temporal masking and frequency sensitivity. Adaptive quantization uses the perceptual weighting factor and global distortion level from buffer history state. Redundant bits according to adaptation of HVS are used for the next image coding. In the case of scene change, DFD using motion compensated predictive coding has high value, large bit rate and unstabilized buffer states since reconstructed image has large quantization noise. Thus, leak factor is set to 0 for scene change frame and leak factor to 15/16 for next frame, and global distortion level is calculated by using standard deviation. Experimental results show that image quality of the proposed method is recovered after several frames and then buffer status is stabilized.

The hydro-elastic system consisting of a pre-stretched highly elastic plate, compressible Newtonian viscous fluid, and the rigid wall is considered and it is assumed that on the plate a lineal-located time-harmonic force acts. It is required to investigate the dynamic behavior of this system and determine how the problem parameters and especially the pre-straining of the plate acts on this behavior. The elasticity relations of the plate are described through the harmonic potential and linearized (with respect to perturbations caused by external time-harmonic force) form of these relations is used in the present investigation. The plane-strain state in the plate is considered and the motion of that is described within the scope of the three-dimensional linearized equations of elastic waves in elastic bodies with initial stresses. The motion of the fluid is described by the linearized Navier-Stokes equations and it is considered the plane-parallel flow of this fluid. The Fourier transform with respect to the space coordinate is applied for a solution to the corresponding boundary-value problem. Numerical results on the frequency response of the interface normal stress and normal velocity and the influence of the initial stretching of the plate on this response are presented and discussed. In particular, it is established that the initial stretching of the plate can decrease significantly the absolute values of the aforementioned quantities.
