  • Respiration sating radiotherapy technique developed In consideration of the movement of body surface and Internal organs during respiration, is categorized into the method of analyzing the respiratory volume for data processing and that of keeping track of fiducial landmark or dermatologic markers based on radiography. However, since these methods require high-priced equipments for treatment and are used for the specific radiotherapy. Therefore, we should develop new essential method whilst ruling out the possible problems. This study alms to obtain body surface motion by using the couch based computer-controlled motion phantom (CBMP) and US sensor, and to develop respiration gating techniques that can adjust patients' beds by using opposite values of the data obtained. The CBMP made to measure body surface motion is composed of a BS II microprocessor, sensor, host computer and stopping motor etc. And the program to control and operate It was developed. After the CBMP was adjusted by entering random movement data, and the phantom movements were acquired using the sensors, the two data were compared and analyzed. And then, after the movements by respiration were acquired by using a rabbit, the real-time respiration gating techniques were drawn by operating the phantom with the opposite values of the data. The result of analysing the acquisition-correction delay time for the data value shows that the data value coincided within 1% and that the acquistition-correction delay time was obtained real-time $(2.34{\times}10^{-4}sec)$. And the movement was the maximum movement was 6 mm In Z direction, In which the respiratory cycle was 2.9 seconds. This study successfully confirms the clinical application possibility of respiration gating techniques by using a CBWP and sensor.

  • In the manufacturing process of flat panel displays, a high-precision planar motion stage is used to position a specimen. Stages of this type typically use frictionless linear motors and air bearings, and laser interferometers. Real-time dynamic correction of the yaw motion error is very important because the inevitable yaw motion error of the stage means a change in the specimen orientation. Gantry control is generally used to compensate for yaw motion errors. Flexure units that allow rotational motion are applied to the stage to apply this method to a stage using an air-bearing guide. This paper proposes a method to improve the constant speed motion performance of a H-type XY stage equipped with air bearing and flexure units. When applying the gantry control to the stage, including the flexure units, the cause of the mutual ripple generated from the linear motors is analyzed, and adaptive learning control is proposed to compensate for the mutual ripple. A simulation was performed to verify the proposed method. The speed ripple was reduced to approximately the 22 % level. The ripple reduction was verified by simulating the stage state where yaw motion error occurs.

  • In this paper we present a simple, efficient method for detection of sharp digital images. Recently many digital cameras are equipped with various autofocusing functions to help users take well-focused pictures as easily as possible. However, acquired digital pictures can be further degraded by motion, limited contrast, and inappropriate amount of exposure, to name a few. In order to decide whether to process the image or not, or whether to delete it or not, reliable measure of image quality to detect sharp images from blurry ones is needed. This paper presents a blurriness/sharpness measure, and demonstrates its feasibility using extensive experiments. This method is fast and easy to implement, and accurate. Regardless of the detection accuracy, existing measures are computation-intensive. However, the proposed measure in this paper is not demanding in computation time. Needless to say, this measure can be used for various imaging applications including autofocusing and astigmatism correction.

  • It is difficult to manage the growing deformity of forearm bone caused by hereditary osteochondromatosis in children, because deformity and discrepancy of limb length is progressive. The are many treatment methods of these problems including excisio of osteochondroma, lengthening of ulna, shortening of radius, corrective osteotomy with or without lengthening apparatus. Among many treatment methods, we tried free vascularized epiphyseal transplantation with the proximal fibular epiphysis in 3 patients of hereditary osteochondromatosis for inducement of continuous bone growth and deformity correction. The average duration of follow up was 7 years and 1 month, the shortest duration being to 4 years and 5 months and the longest 10 years and 8 months. Serial radiologic and clinical evaluation were carried out during follow up and there were satisfactory length gain, deformity correction and improvement of adjacent joint motion in 2 cases. According to our follow up evaluation, free vascularized epiphyseal transplantation is valuable procedure in forearm deformity of hereditary osteochondromatosis although it needs skillful and experienced operative technique.

  • This paper present, the result of the guidance and control law for a course correction munitions(CCM) with 2sets of canards positioned in the rotating nose section. The nonlinear simulation model of the CCM was developed based on 7DOF equation of motion. The ability of correcting position was verified by open-loop control input with nonlinear model. The guidance and control command was constructed by reference trajectory which can be obtained with no control. Finally, the performance of the guidance and control law was evaluated through Monte-carlo simulation. The CEP(Circular Error Probability) was obtained by considering the errors in muzzle velocity, aerodynamic coefficient, wind, elevation and azimuth angle and density.

  • Important safety parameters such as the fuel temperature coefficient (FTC) and the power coefficient of reactivity (PCR) of the CANada Deuterium Uranium (CANDU-6) reactor have been evaluated using the Monte Carlo method. For accurate analysis of the parameters, the Doppler broadening rejection correction scheme was implemented in the MCNPX code to account for the thermal motion of the heavy uranium-238 nucleus in the neutron-U scattering reactions. In this work, a standard fuel lattice has been modeled and the fuel is depleted using MCNPX. The FTC value is evaluated for several burnup points including the mid-burnup representing a near-equilibrium core. The Doppler effect has been evaluated using several cross-section libraries such as ENDF/B-VI.8, ENDF/B-VII.0, JEFF-3.1.1, and JENDL-4.0. The PCR value is also evaluated at mid-burnup conditions to characterize the safety features of an equilibrium CANDU-6 reactor. To improve the reliability of the Monte Carlo calculations, we considered a huge number of neutron histories in this work and the standard deviation of the k-infinity values is only 0.5-1 pcm.

  • In an industrial field, non-destructive testing (NDT) is commonly used to inspect industrial products. Among NDT methods using radiation sources, X-ray laminography has several advantages, such as high depth resolution and low computational costs. Moreover, an X-ray laminography system with stationary source array and compact detector is able to reduce mechanical motion artifacts and improve inspection efficiency. However, this system, called stationary inverse-geometry X-ray laminography (s-IGXL), causes truncation artifacts in reconstructed images due to limited fields-of-view (FOVs). In this study, we proposed a projection data correction (PDC) method to reduce the truncation artifacts arisen in s-IGXL images, and the performance of the proposed method was evaluated with the different number of focal spots in terms of quantitative accuracy. Comparing with conventional techniques, the PDC method showed superior performance in reducing truncation artifacts and improved the quantitative accuracy of s-IGXL images for all the number of focal spots. In conclusion, the PDC method can improve the accuracy of s-IGXL images and allow precise NDT measurements.

  • Moebius syndrome (MBS) is a congenital neurologic disorder that causes cranio-facial abnormalities. It involves paralysis of the VI and VII cranial nerves and causes bilateral or unilateral facial paralysis, eye movement disorder, and deformation of the upper and lower limbs. The orofacial dysfunctions include microstomia, micrognathia, hypotonic mimetic and lip muscles, dental enamel hypoplasia, tongue deformity, open bite or deep overbite, maxillary hypoplasia, high arched palate, mandibular hyperplasia or features indicating mandibular hypoplasia. This case report presents a 7-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with MBS at the age 2 years. The patient displayed typical clinical symptoms and was diagnosed with Class II malocclusion with a large overjet/overbite, tongue deformity and motion limitation, and lip closure incompetency. Treatment was initiated using a removable appliance for left scissor bite correction. After permanent tooth eruption, fixed appliance treatment was performed for correction of the arch width discrepancy and deep overbite. A self-ligation system and wide-width arch form wire were used during the treatment to expand the arch width. After 30 months of phase II treatment, the alignment of the dental arch and stable molar occlusion was achieved. Function and occlusion remained stable with a Class I canine and molar relationship, and a normal overjet/overbite was maintained after 9.4 years of retainer use. In MBS patients, it is important to achieve an accurate early diagnosis, and implement a multidisciplinary treatment approach and long-term retention and follow-up.
