  • Multimodal optimization is one of the most interesting topics in evolutionary computational discipline. Simple genetic algorithm, a basic and good-performance genetic algorithm, shows bad performance on multimodal problems, taking long generation time to obtain the optimum, converging on the local extrema in early generation. In this paper, we propose a new genetic algorithm with two new genetic mutational operators, i.e. global and local mutation operators, and no genetic crossover. The proposed algorithm is similar to Simple GA and the two genetic operators are as simple as the conventional mutation. They just mutate the genes from left or right end of a chromosome till the randomly selected gene is replaced. In fact, two operators are identical with each other except for the direction where they are applied. Their roles of shaking the population (global searching) and fine tuning (local searching) make the diversity of the individuals being maintained through the entire generation. The proposed algorithm is, therefore, robust and powerful.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing file-up family stress in the family with a family member having a chronic mental illness. Method: Data was collected by questionnaires from 365 families with a member having a chronic mental illness, in an outpatient clinic of a General Hospital and Government Psychiatric Hospital in Seoul. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The score of file-up stress showed a significantly negative correlation with the score of level of hardiness (r=-.31, p=.00), family support (r=-.13, p=.00), family cohesion (r=-.25, p=.00), and sense of coherence (r=-.26, p=.00). The most powerful predictor of file-up stress was family hardiness and the variance was 11.1%. Acombination of hardiness, family support, and sense of coherence account for 14.8 % of the variance in file-up stress of the family with a member having a chronic mental illness. Conclusion: This study suggests that family support, hardiness, cohesion, and sense of coherence are significant influencing factors on file-up stress in the family with a member having a chronic mental illness.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the relationship between stress, social support and depression in the elderly. Method: The subjects were 283 elderly adults over 60 in Seoul. Data was collected by questionnaire surveys using convenience sampling. The instruments used in this study are the ELSI developed by Aldwin(1990), the Interpersonal Support Evaluation List developed by Cohen & Hoberman (1983), and the Geriatric Depression Scale by Yesavage & Brink(l982). Data was analyzed by the SAS program, using descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and progressed Multiple Regression. Result: The relationship between stress and depression had a positive correlation (r=0.33), but the relationship between stress and social support had no significant correlations. The relationship between social support and depression had a negative correlation (r=-0.38). The most powerful predictor of depression was the economic status and then a combination of stress, and social support account for 39% of the variance in depression in the elderly. Conclusion: These results suggested that stress and social support deficits can be potential risk factors in old age depression. Therefore, these findings give useful information for constructing an intervention program focused on depression in the elderly.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to the wellbeing of the family caregivers of the elderly with a stroke. Methods: The subjects of this study were 199 elderly treated in four oriental hospitals in Korea, and their primary family caregivers. The data was collected by interviewsand a self reported Questionnaire, during the period from October, 2003 to April, 2004. Results: The results of this study were as follows. The mean score of wellbeing of family caregivers was 60.6412.63. The factors related to wellbeing of family caregivers were sex, age, education, depression, illness severity, ADL, paralysis, and speech disability in elderly characteristics. Among family caregivers characteristics, education, relation, and burden were significantly related. In situational variables, family income and the previous relationship between the elderly and family caregivers were related to wellbeing. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of wellbeing was the burden of family caregivers. A combination of the depression of elderly and age of family caregivers accounted for 50.3% of the variance of wellbeing. Conclusions: On developing the nursing intervention for improving wellbeing of family caregivers, many factors should be considered, especially caregiver burden, and elderly depression.

  • Soengyo-jang has some characteristics as the most great house, the special functions, and the non-regional type of house form. And it has constructed continuously for two centuries by many owners in the different generations, It needs a special research method ; which are consist of a) comprehension of background information from documents and oral instructed materials, b) pursuit of design process through the building survey, and c) theoretical interpretation about 'collectivism'. From the results of this research, it is revealed that the architectural purpose of this house was constructing 'a great manor'. At first phase, it had been a single ordinary house, at second, it had expanded to a complex including many housing clusters, and finally became to expand its dwelling territory into whole village. Its expansion was progressed by the four collecting phases of which were building, building cluster, group of clusters, and topological setting. Main design elements operated in each of collecting phases ; they were partial element of , exterior spaces of , a linear building of , and a pavilion of . The last two elements were also powerful datum.

  • Recently, there has been introduced various types of pairing computations to implement ID based cryptosystem for mobile ad hoc network. The Miller algorithm is the most popular algorithm for the typical pairing computation such as Weil, Tate and Ate. In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of concrete data fault injection attack, which was proposed by Whelan and Scott, in terms of regardless of round positions during the execution of the Miller algorithm. As the simulation results, the proposed attack that can be employed to regardless of round positions and coordinate systems is effective and powerful.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among emotional labor, empowerment, job burnout, and turnover intention. Methods: The design of this study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The subjects of this study were 358 nurses working for over 6 months in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data were collected from 4th to 30th of September, 2009 through one-to-one interviews. Survey data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression. Results: We find the positive correlation of turnover intention with emotional labor and with job burnout, but the negative correlation of empowerment with job burnout and with turnover intention. The nurses' turnover intention scores were relatively low with 1.30. Job burnout, shift work, and frequency of turnover were predictors of turnover intention. The most powerful predictor variable was job burnout (${\beta}$=.420, p<.001). We find that emotional labor and empowerment as determinants of turnover intention are not significant. Conclusion: These results suggest that manager should consider shift work of nurses and job burnout in order to manage nurse organization and resource effectively.
