  • The recent evolution of mobile devices and services have resulted in such plethora of mobile applications (apps) that users have difficulty finding the ones they wish to use in a given moment. We design an app recommendation system which predicts the app to be executed with high accuracy so that users are able to access their next app conveniently and quickly. We introduce the App-Usage Tracking Feature (ATF), a simple but powerful feature for predicting next app launches, which characterizes each app use from the sequence of previously used apps. In addition, our method can be implemented without compromising the user privacy since it is solely trained on the target user's mobile usage data and it can be conveniently implemented in the individual mobile device because of its less computation-intensive behavior. We provide a comprehensive empirical analysis of the performance and characteristics of our proposed method on real-world mobile usage data. We also demonstrate that our system can accurately predict the next app launches and outperforms the baseline methods such as the most frequently used apps (MFU) and the most recently used apps (MRU).

  • Most modem computers or game consoles are well equipped with powerful graphics processing units(GPUs) to accelerate graphics operations. However, since the graphics engines in these GPUs are specially designed for graphics operations, we could not take advantage of their computing power for more general nongraphic operations. In this paper, we studied the GPUs graphics engine in order to accelerate the image processing capability. Specifically, we implemented a JPEC2000 decoding/encoding framework that involves both OpenMP and GPU. Initial experimental results show that significant speed-up can be achieved by utilizing the GPU power.

  • In today's hyper-competitive business environment, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is expected to enhance the operation efficiency of supplying chain management in both manufactures and retail industries. However, the widespread deployment of RFID tags may create new threats to user privacy, due to the powerful tracking capability of the tags. Many authentication protocols for RFID have been proposed. They are helpful preventing passersby being scanned to determine what articles they are carrying. However, most of them would not prevent the bigger physical tracking problem of RFID, especially when being tracked by the 'constellation' of products they carry. We proposed this RFID scheme to prevent these tracking problems.

  • The high resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM) is one of the most powerful methods fer investigating internal structures of various materials on an atomic scale. In fact, HRTEM images are becoming much more common in scientific papers, and are making valuable contributions to development of industrial products. With rapid improvement of current HRTEMS, their maximum resolution reaches almost 0.1 nm. In this paper we describe the fundamental formulation of the imaging process of HRTEM and their practical application f3r nano materials.

  • The present paper shows a new non-tensorial approach to derive basic equations for various structural analyses. It can be used directly in numerical computation procedures. The aim of the paper is, however, to show that the approach serves as an excellent tool for analytical purposes also, working as a link between analytical and numerical techniques. The paper gives a method to derive, at first, expressions for strains in general beam and shell analyses, and secondly, the governing equilibrium equations. The approach is based on the utilization of local fixed Cartesian coordinate systems. Applying these, all the definitions required are the simple basic ones, well-known from the analyses in common global coordinates. In addition, the familiar principle of virtual work has been adopted. The method will be, apparently, most powerful in teaching the theories of curved beam and shell structures for students not familiar with tensor analysis. The final results obtained have no novelty value in themselves, but the procedure developed opens through its systematic and graphic progress a new standpoint to theoretical considerations.

  • The boundary evaluation technique for Boolean operation on non-manifold models which is regarded as the most popular and powerful method to create and modify 3-D CAD models has been developed. This technique adopted the concept of Merge and Selection in which the CSG tree for Boolean operation can be edited quickly and easily. In this method, the merged set which contains complete information about primitive models involved is created by merging primitives one by one, then the alive entities are selected following the given CSG tree. This technique can support the hybrid representation of B-rep(Boundary Representation) and CSG(Constructive Solid Geometry) tree in a unified non-manifold model data structure, and expected to be used as a basic method for many modeling problems such as data representation of form features, and the interference between them, and data representation of conceptual models in design process, etc.

  • This paper introduces three loop splitting methods such as minimum dependence distance method, Polychronopoulous' method, and first dependence method for exploiting parallelism from single loop which already developed. And it also Indicates their several problems. We extend the first dependence method which is the most effective one among three loop splitting methods, and propose more powerful loop splitting method to enhance parallelism on single loop. The proposed algorithm solves several problems, such as anti-flow dependence and g=gcd(a,c) > 1, that the first dependence method has.

  • Based on the theoretical framework of the Double ABCX model of family stress and adaptation, this study was to analysis the causal relationships of stressors (psychological sexual, and physical wife abuse), personal resources (self-efficacy and self-esteem) and social support(emotional and informational support), appraisal(positive appraisal and downward comparisons) with adaptation (psychological well-being and somatic symptoms). Self-administered questionnaire method was used to collect data from 264 wives residing in Chonbuk-do and Kyonggi-do area. The causal model was tested and modified by the maximum likelihood method using UISREL 7 program. Results showed that wife abuse had effect on adaptation indirectly through the latent variables of personal resource and appraisal, which influenced the adaptation directly. In addition, social support indirectly affect the adaptation through personal resource and appraisal. It was also found that all these variables explained 27.6% of the total variance of wives'adaptation, and that personal resources was the most powerful variable in predicting the adaptation of the wives.

  • One of the most important design factor for the image tracker is the speed of the data processing which allows real-time operation of the system and provides reasonably accurate performance at the same time. Use of powerful DSP alone does not guarantee to meet such requirement. In this paper, a simple efficient algorithm for real-time multi-target image tracking is suggested. The suggested method is based on a recursive centroiding technique and color table look-up. This method has been successfully implemented in a image processing system for Micro-Robot Soccer Tournament(MIROSOT). This tracker can track positions of a ball, 3 enemies, and 3 agents at the same time. The experimental results show that the processing time for each frame of image is less than 7ms, which is well within the 60Hz sampling interval for real-time operation.

  • The major problem encountered in satellite design is EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) and EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility). Here, our focus is on the effects of protons on the electronic system. The SEU (Single Event Upset) results from the level change of stored information due to photon radiation and temperature in the space and the nuclear power plant environment. The impact of SEU on PLD (Programmable Logic Devices) technology is most apparent in ROM/SRAM/DRAM devices wherein the state of storage cell can be upset. In this paper, a simple and powerful test techniques is suggested, and the results are presented for the analysis and future reference. The test results are compared with that of JPL test report. In our experiment, the proton radiation facility available at KIRAMS (Korea Institute of Radiological Medical Sciences) has been applied on a commercially available SRAM manufactured by Hynix Semiconductor Company.
