  • Morphological differences were studied using the analysis of covariance between various partial length and mantle length of the common Todarodes pacificus by cohorts in the Korean waters. Analysis of seven morphological characters proved that each cohort has no sexual differences, except significant sexual differences only in the Summer cohort in term of relative growth between mantle length and body weight. The three cohorts represent significant differences in morphological characters.

  • The stream morphological characteristics of watershed have important influence upon the analysis of runoff. In this study, the effect of the map scale on the stream morphological characteristics was used on the data taken from 15'(1:50, 000) and 7'30"(1 :25,000) topographic maps which could cover the whole Miho River basin This basin are the first tributary of the Geum. River. Otherwise, the longitudinal stream bed profile was calculated by Yang's theoretical stream bed profile, equilibrium profile and actual profile. In the result of this investigation the conclusion is that the resultant relationship obtained from different topographic maps in the scale on the same stream system has come upon the same result as the stream morphological characteristics. Therefore, the great amount of time and effort can be saved in studing the stream morphological charecteristics by using the 15' instead of the 7'30"map system excluding the first order streams.

The result of this study were as follows : 1. The Morphological Method which is one of the Methods of Creativity could be applied to Idea abduction for Apparel Design by CAD system. 2. This study developed a program for CAD system which could use the design process for Apparel Design applied to the Morphological Method 3. In the consequence of the program which could use the design developing process of Morphological Method, and trying to test with the selection of the essential variables about Jacket, Skirt, One-piece, Blouse, it is found that many design for Apparel Design could be producted in a short time, so that the conclusion have been made as a result that the Method could be a great help to design a variable sillouette for Apparel Design.

  • The tadpoles of 12 Korean anuran species, including Bombina orientalis, Bufo gargarizans, B. stejnegeri, Hyla japonica, Kaloula borealis, Rana dybowskii, R. huanrenensis, R. coreana, R. nigromaculata, R. chosenica, R. rugosa, and R. catesbeiana, were classified based on their morphological characteristics. We collected eggs or tadpoles of the 12 Korean anuran species from Gangwon, Incheon, Chungcheong, and Gyeonggi districts in 2005 and 2006 breeding seasons. When the tadpoles reached at $27{\sim}37$ Gosner's developmental stages, we described morphological characteristics of the tadpoles of each anuran species and measured their physical parameters such as total length, body length, and body mass. After that, we chose 12 morphological characteristics to identify each species and to use them as classification keys such as eye location, caudal musculature pattern, spiracle location, oral disc morphology, and labial tooth row formula. In this paper, we presented classification keys, morphological characteristics, and drawings for the tadpoles of 12 anuran species.

  • The decomposition of a structuring element for a morphological operation reduces the amount of the computation required for executing the operation. In this paper, we present a new technique for the decomposition of convex structuring elements for morphological operations. We formulated the linear constraints for the decomposition of a convex polygon in discrete space, then the constraints are applied to the decomposition of a convex structuring element. Also, a cost function is introduced to represent the optimal criteria for decomposition. We use linear integer programming technique to find the combination of basis structuring elements which minimizes the amount of the computation required for executing the morphological operation. Formulating different cost functions for different implementation methods and computer architectures, we can determine the optimal decompositions which guarantee the minimal amounts of computation on different computing environment.

  • In order to determine the morphological variations of the Japanese swimming crab, Charybdis japonica, we conducted morphological analysis of five populations that are relatively abundant in Korea and Japan. Abdominal sternite for individuals of the Tean population showed significantly short when compared to those of other populations. Principal component analysis demonstrated that morphological differentiation was due to differences (A/Q, B/M, D/P, F/O, J/K), and effectively discriminated each others. The first two components accounted for 40.9% and 60.7% of the variation, respectively. The dendrogram showed three distinct groups, Tokyo population, Taean population, and the other populations.

  • MF(Morphological filter) is generally composed of several morphological operation, which are the diverse structuring element. The two basic operation are erosion and dilation. The two other operation, opening and closing, are defined based on these two operation. Performance of open-closing(OC) is better exellent than close-opening(CO) to reduce noise of image data with Gaussian noise. In this paper, to use the hybrid median filter in processing the image, is shown that hybrid median filter has better results image quality than other filters, to analyze by computer simulation.

  • The present investigation was conducted to know the effects of host age on development and morphological characteristics of Nesolynx thymus, a gregarious ectopupal parasitoid of the uzi fly, Exorista bombycis, a serious en do-larval parasitoid of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. For experimentation, 3 - 11 day-old pupae of E. bombycis were exposed to 2 day-old adults of N. thymus at $25{\pm}2^{\circ}C\;and\;60{\pm}10%$ RH. A highly significant negative correlation between host age and the following development and morphological characteristics of the parasitoid was observed: number of pupae parasitised, total adult recovery, sex ratio and recovery, longevity, body length, wing span, abdomen length, and abdomen width of females. The findings of the present study clearly demonstrate that various development and morphological parameters of N. thymus are influenced by the age of E. bombycis pupae.

  • Morphologically annotated corpora are the basis for many tasks of computational linguistics. Most current approaches use statistically driven methods of morphological analysis, that provide just POS-tags. While this is sufficient for some applications, a rule-based full morphological analysis also yielding lemmatization and segmentation is needed for many others. This work thus aims at 〔1〕 introducing a rule-based Korean morphological analyzer called Kormoran based on the principle of linearity that prohibits any combination of left-to-right or right-to-left analysis or backtracking and then at 〔2〕 showing how it on be used as a POS-tagger by adopting an ordinary technique of preprocessing and also by filtering out irrelevant morpho-syntactic information in analyzed feature structures. It is shown that, besides providing a basis for subsequent syntactic or semantic processing, full morphological analyzers like Kormoran have the greater power of resolving ambiguities than simple POS-taggers. The focus of our present analysis is on Korean text.
