Incremental launching method is one of the highly competitive techniques for construction of concrete bridges. It avoids costly and time consuming form work and centralizes all construction activities in a small casting yard, thus saving in cost and time against conventional bridge construction. From the quality point of view, it eliminates the uncertainty of monolithic behaviour by allowing high repetitiveness and industrial environment. But, from analysis and design point of view, the most characteristic aspect of incrementally launched bridges is that, it has to absorb the stresses associated with the temporary supports that are gradually taken on by the deck during its launch. So, it is necessary to analyse the structure for each step of launching which is a tedious and time consuming process. Effect of support settlements or temperature variation makes the problem more complex. By using transfer matrix method, this problem can be handled efficiently with minimal computational effort. This paper gives insight into method of analysis, formulation for optimization of the structural system, effect of support settlement and temperature gradient, during construction, on the stress state of incrementally launched bridges.

In this paper, a MMIC double balanced mixer that can be applied to the tele-communication band is designed and LO power optimization for the mixer is discussed. The chip of the MMIC double-balanced mixer is fabricated on GaAs substrate with the size of $4{\times}4mm^2$. Optimization study of LO power for the MMIC double-balanced mixer proposed in this paper is conducted for the Input IP3 (IIP3) regarding on the linearity of the input signal. When LO power level of+16 dBm is applied to the mixer, IIP3 is obtained to be approximately 23.2 dBm, which is the most outstanding characteristic.
In this paper we report new integration technology developed for three-dimensional metallic microstructures in an arbitrary shape. We have developed the two fabrication methods: Multi-Exposure and Single-Development (MESD) and Sacrificial Metallic Mold(SMM) techniques. Three-dimensional photoresist mold can be formed by the MESD method while unlimited number of structural levels can be realized by the SMM technique. Using these two techniques we have fabricated solenoid inductors and levitated spiral inductors for RF applications. We have achieved peak Q- factors over 40 in the 2-10㎓ range, the highest number among the inductors reported to date. Finally, we propose "On-Chip Passives" as a post IC process for monolithic integration of inductors, tunable capacitors, microwave switches, transmission lines, and mixers and filters toward future single-chip transceiver integration.

The dielectric effects of plastic packages on GaAs($\varepsilon$$_{r}$=13) MMIC microstrip characteristics are analyzed using the spectral domain method (SDM). As being packaged by typical FR-4 composites ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$=14.2) for PCB substrates and plastic packages, the characteristic impedance is reduced by about 6 %, but the effective dielectric constant is increased by 13 % from those of bare microstrip, respectively. The parasitic effects of the packaging materials can greatly degrade the performance of the packaged MMIC. We also calculated the optimum microstrip width, which maintains the 50 $\Omega$ matching condition after plastic packaging. These calculated results can be used to optimize the plastic packages, and extend the application ranges for low cost MMIC production.n.

Traditional construction method of the stern tube is difficult to control the process and needs excessive working hours. Recently in order to resolve these issues, stern tube unit has been installed for some commercial vessels. The stern tube unit is a monolithic structure of bush and related components. The purpose of this study is to carry out a feasibility study for application of the stern tube unit for a 174K twin skeg LNG carrier. In this study, a 19,000 TEU container carrier installing the stern tube unit has been selected to compare with the deformations of stern for a 174K twin skeg LNG carrier.
SiC has been under investigation as a potential cladding for LWR fuel, due to its high melting point and drastically reduced chemical reactivity with liquid water, and steam at high temperatures. As SiC is a brittle material its behavior during the reflood phase of a Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) is another important aspect of SiC that must be examined as part of the feasibility assessment for its application to LWR fuel rods. In this study, an experimental assessment of thermal shock performance of a monolithic alpha phase SiC tube was conducted by quenching the material from high temperature (up to $1200^{\circ}C$) into room temperature water. Post-quenching assessment was carried out by a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) image analysis to characterize fractures in the material. This paper assesses the effects of pre-existing pores on SiC cladding brittle fracture and crack development/propagation during the reflood phase. Proper extension of these guidelines to an SiC/SiC ceramic matrix composite (CMC) cladding design is discussed.
The influences of TiC additions to the α-SiC on microstructural, mechanical, and electrical properties were investigated. Electrical discharge machinability of SiC-TiC composites was also studied. Samples were prepared by adding 30, 45, 60 wt.% TiC particles as a second phase to a SiC matrix. Sintering of SiC-TiC composites was done by hot pressing under a vacuum atmospehre from 1000 to 2000℃ with a pressure of 32 MPa and held for 90 minutes at 2000℃. Samples obtained by hot pressing were fully dense with the relative densities over 99% except 60wt.% TiC samples. Flexural strength and fracture toughness of the samples were increased with the TiC content. In case of SiC samples containing 45 wt.% TiC, the fracture toughness showed 90% increase compared to that of monolithic SiC sample. The crack propagation and crack deflection were observed with a SEM for etched samples after Vicker's indentation. The electrical resistivities of SiC-TiC composites were measured utilizing the four-point probe. The electrical dischage machining of composites was also conducted to evaluate the machinability.

This study designed a model of the efficient production schemes and raw materials transportation optimization of current South Korean's simple and monolithic distribution system of wood to build a SCM (supply chain management) as a basic level to establish a distribution of future by pellet production of raw materials costs and reduce transport costs, and specifically to forest of pallet to contribute to revitalizing the market. The result of each transportation costs after building the best transportation network from raw material supply area to demand area applying transport law was 964,600 thousands Won from 6 supply areas to 7 demand areas. And the result of each model's analysis to get the pellet's efficient production through production cost reduction showed that it reduced from 325,701 Won/t to 240,106 Won/t, results of existing efficient pellet for the production model 8,233 tons over 20,000 tons annual production capacity from the size of the expanded production capacity when the expansion. However, when the production size expanded to 50,000 Tons of the production, the effect was very small even though production cost decreased.

A making process of DSC(dye sensitized solar cell) was presented. In general, Photo electrodes of DSC was made by using colloid paste of nano $TiO_2$ and processing of Doctor-blade printing and high temperature sintering for porous structure. These methods lead to cracks on $TiO_2$ surface and ununiform of $TiO_2$ thickness. This phenomenon is one factor that makes low efficiency to cells. After $TiO_2$ printing on TCO glass, a physical vibration was adapted for reducing ununiform of $TiO_2$ thickness. And a thermal treatment at low temperature(under $75^{\circ}C$) was adapted for reducing cracks on $TiO_2$ surface. In this paper, we have designed and manufactured an ultrasonic circuit (100W, frequency and duty variable) and a thermal equipment. Then, we have optimized forcing time, frequency and duty of ultrasonic irradiation and thermal heating for surface treatment of photo-electrode of DSC. In I-V characteristic test of DSC, ultrasonic and thermal treated DSC shows 19% improved its efficiency against monolithic DSC. And it shows stability of light-harvesting from drastically change of light irradiation test.

In this study, various damage modes in bending unimorph piezoelectric composite actuators with a thin sandwiched PZT plate during bending fracture tests have been evaluated by monitoring acoustic emission (AE) signals in terms of waveform and peak frequency as well as AE parameters. Three kinds of actuator specimens consisting of woven fabric fiber skin layers and a PZT ceramic core layer are loaded with a roller and an AE activity from the specimen is monitored during the entire loading using an AE transducer mounted on the specimen. AE characteristics from a monolithic PZT ceramic with a thickness of $250{\mu}m$ are examined first in order to distinguish different AE signals from various possible damage modes in piezoelectric composite actuators. Post-failure observations and stress analyses in the respective layers of the specimens are conducted to identify particular features in the acoustic emission signal that correspond to specific types of damage modes. As a result, the signal classification based on waveform and peak frequency analyses successfully describes the failure process of the bending piezoelectric composite actuator exhibiting diverse failure mechanisms. Furthermore, it is elucidated that when the PZT ceramic embedded actuators are loaded mechanical bending loads, the failure process of actuator specimens with different lay-up configurations is almost same irrespective of their lay-up configurations.
