Design of CIM(Common Information Model) Profile for Smart City Energy Monitoring (스마트시티 에너지 감시를 위한 CIM(Common Information Model) 프로파일 설계)

  • With the advent of high technologies such as the 4th Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence and big data, efforts are being made to solve urban problems and improve the quality of life by applying new technologies in the smart city field. In addition, as carbon neutrality has emerged as an important issue due to global warming, smart city energy platform technologies such as urban energy management, efficiency improvement, and carbon reduction are in the spotlight. In order to effectively manage urban energy, energy resource information such as electricity, water, gas, hot water, heating, etc. must be collected from the management system of various energy utilities and managed on the central platform. The centrally integrated data is delivered to external city management systems that require city energy information through an energy platform. This study developed a CIM profile for smart city energy monitoring required to provide energy data to external systems. Electric data model were designed using the CIM class of IEC 61970, and water, gas, and heat data model were designed in compliance with the UML-based design ideas of IEC 61970.

  • In recent years, the many electric saving methods are studied because of difficulty of meeting the demand. The electric energy management such as monitoring of branch power consumption, demand control, metering, power quality monitoring, electric safety monitoring can make energy saving. The purpose of this paper is to develop a system which can provide the integrated management of various functions required for energy management by consumers. In this system all functions which were embodied into each devices are integrated into intelligent meter. The developed systems are tested and implemented by installing at consumer electric distribution panel.

  • As ESS safety issues increase recently, there is a need to more precisely monitor the temperature of the ESS. In this paper, DTS technology for temperature monitoring of ESS batteries is introduced and the temperature measurement principle is explained. The temperature of the battery module is measured using the DTS system, and the thermal deviation between battery cells inside the battery module is analyzed. In order to analyze how thermal imbalance affects the charging and discharging performance of the battery, an accelerated degradation test was conducted. Cycle life characteristics analysis, battery surface temperature change, and AC impedance characteristics were conducted to analyze how the performance of battery cells differs according to temperature conditions.

  • In this paper, Cell voltage monitoring method is studied for fault detection of PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) for FCEV(fuel cell electric vehicle). To measuring several hundred of cells in fuel cell stack, The demanded feature of hardware and software is studied and several types are analysed. Finally, $3.26\%$ maximum measuring error is acquired and verified experimentally.

  • Recently, on-line diagnosis methods through wired and wireless networks are widely adopted in the diagnosis of industrial Electric Facilities, such as generators, transformers and motors. Also smart sensors which includes sensors, signal conditioning circuits and micro-controller in one board are widely studied in the field of condition monitoring. This paper suggests an self-powered system suitable for condition-monitoring smart sensors, which uses parasitic vibrations of the facilities as energy source. First, vibration-driven noise patterns of the electric facilities are presented. And then, an electromagnetic generator which uses mechanical mass-spring vibration resonance are suggested and designed. Finally energy consumption of the presented smart sensor, which consists of MEMS vibration sensors, signal conditioning circuits, a low-power consumption micro-controller, and a ZIGBEE wireless tranceiver, are presented. The usefulness and limits of the presented electromagnetic generators in the field of electric facility monitoring are also suggested.

  • The interest of New Renewable Energy is increasing globally because of the increment of the uncertainty for the energy's supply and demand, and the increment of the frequency in weather anomaly and its damages. One of the New Renewable Energies, Hydrogen receives attention as the future energy that can deal with global environment regulation. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) is an environment-friendly vehicle that uses Hydrogen as fuel. The electric power for FCEV is generated by chemical reaction with Oxygen from the air and Hydrogen. Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) has developed a proprietary fuel cell system since 2005. In 2012, HMC is the first car maker that mass-produces the ix35 FCEV to the worldwide such as North America, Europe, etc. In order to develop and improve the FCEV technology, data acquisition and analysis of the driving vehicle information is essential. Therefore, the monitoring system is developed, which is consist of datalogger, Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) server and main server. Especially, WCDMA technology is integrated into the system which enables the data analysis without any restriction of time and region. The main function of the system is the analysis of the driving pattern and the component durability, and the safety monitoring. As a result, ix35 FCEV has successfully developed by using the developed monitoring system. The system is going to take an advantage of development in the future FCEV technology.

  • A electric power conversion system in a pumped storage power plant is important equipment for converting electric motor kinetic energy into electric power. A electric power conversion monitoring system consists of high voltage thyristor firing equipment, fault detection module, data gathering module, real time data processing equipment and man machine interface system. This paper describes electric power conversion system overview, the developed SFC monitoring system configuration including system characteristics, and successful application result to San-Cheong pumped storage power plant.

On-line Temperature Monitoring of the GIS Contacts Based on Infrared Sensing Technology

  • Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is widely used in the power systems, however, the contacts overheating of the inside circuit breaker or disconnector may be a potential cause of developing accidents. As the temperature of the contacts cannot be directly acquired due to existence of the metallic shield, an infrared sensor is adopted to directly measure the temperature of the shield and then the contacts temperature can be indirectly obtained by data fitting, based on which the on-line temperature monitoring technology specifically for GIS contacts based on infrared sensing is proposed in this paper. A real GIS test platform is constructed and experimental studies are carried out to account for the influential factors that affect the accuracy of the infrared temperature measurement. A heat transfer model of the GIS module is also developed, together with experimental studies, the nonlinear temperature relationship among the contacts, the metallic shield and the environment based on a neural network algorithm is established. Finally, an integrated on-line temperature monitoring system for the GIS contacts is developed for on-site applications.

  • Along with response of the Climactic Change Convention, the government is demanding a measuring and reporting system for green-house gas emission and energy consumption on the railroad sector in order to make a transition to a low carbon green railroad system. According to the plans to electric railway line and increase the number of electric rolling stock, the electric consumption is increasing more than the consumption of diesel. Therefore, the development of monitoring device for green-house gases became important issue. In this study we developed a prototype of the monitoring system for estimating electric consumption. This study is expected to make accurate GHG emission inventory and be used to have confidence of emission factor.
