When engine oil is used under severe running condition, the Lubricational characteristics is very important. I have studied the Lubricational characteristics with Compound Additives of engine oil for the Falex wear test machine. Adding detergent (Ca-phenate) to engine oil, the seizure is more improved than in case of non-adding, and adding Zn-DTP (Zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate), the extreme pressure property is excellent at the high load. But when the PTFE (Polytetra Fluoro Ethylene) and MoS$_{2}$ (Molybdenum disulfide) are added, the temperature characteristics and the anti-wear property become excellent because the stability can be maintained in a high temperature. The result are as follows, it can be improved that when the compound of the Ca-phenate and Zn-DTP, MoS$_{2}$, PTFE, etc. was added to engine oil, the lubrication characteristics become better. It is argued that it is improved because of excellence of the anti-wear, the extreame pressure properties and the heat stability.
The connecting rod is one of the most important parts in automotive engines, transforming the reciprocal motion of a piston generated by internal combustion into the rotational motion of a crankshaft. Recent advances in high performance automobile engines demand corresponding technological breakthroughs in the materials for engine parts. In the present research, the powder metallurgy (P/M) process was used to replace conventional quenching and/or tempering processes for mass production and ultimately for more cost-efficient manufacturing of high strength connecting rods. The development of P/M alloy powder was undertaken not only to achieve the improvement in mechanical properties, but also to enhance the machinability of the P/M processed connecting rods. Specifically $MoS_2$ powders were added as lubricants to non-normalizing Fe-Cr-Mn-V-C alloy powder to improve the post-sintering machinability. The effects of $MoS_2$ addition on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and machining characteristics were investigated.
The effect of $MoS_2$ and graphite content on wear resistance and mechanical properties of Cu/Sn bonded diamond micro blades was comparatively investigated in terms of volume and weight fraction. For the evaluation of endurance and cutting performance, instantaneous electric power consumption and cumulative wear loss during cutting glass work piece at constant velocity were measured with the micro blades of the wide range of lubricant content. The energy consumption of blades for glass cutting decreased with the content of lubricants. Wear amount of blade in volume increased with the amount of lubricant addition. It was found to be relevant to the decrease in flexural strength and hardness with the amount of lubricants. With the same amount of lubricant content in volume fraction $MoS_2$ showed superiority in mechanical properties and cutting performance than graphite while graphite could result in stronger effect on lowering electric consumption during cutting work piece for the same weight percent fraction than $MoS_2$ because of lower density.
Cutting performance and wear behavior were studied with the diamond micro-blade of Cu/Sn bond materials containing various amount of lubricant materials such as graphite and $MoS_2$. Measurement of instantaneous electric power consumption for cutting glass workpiece at the constant velocity was conducted and proposed as a method to assess cutting efficiency. The energy consumption of micro-blade for glass cutting decreased with the content of graphite and $MoS_2$ while wear amount of blade in volume increased with the amount of lubricant addition during the dicing test. It is because that hardness, flexural strength, and fracture toughness ($K_{IC}$) reduced with the amount of lubricant addition. Blades with $MoS_2$ additive showed higher mechanical properties than those with graphite additives when the same amount of the lubricant additive in wt.% was added. Due to the lower density of graphite than $MoS_2$, higher volume fraction of graphite could result in stronger effect on lowering electric power consumption by reducing the friction between blade and work piece however increasing wear rate due to the reduction in strength and fracture toughness. Adhesive wearing mode of micro blade could be remarkably improved by the addition of graphite as well as $MoS_2$.
In this paper, the physics-based analytical model of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)-based double-gate (DG) tunneling field-effect transistors (TFETs) is proposed. The proposed model is derived by using the two-dimensional (2-D) Landauer formula and the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation. For improving the accuracy, nonlinear and continuous lateral energy band profile is applied to the model. 2-D density of states (DOS) and two-band effective Hamiltonian for TMD materials are also used in order to consider the 2-D nature of TMD-based TFETs. The model is validated by using the tight-binding non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF)-based quantum transport simulation in the case of monolayer molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$)-based TFETs.

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) was filled with glass fiber (GF), aramid fiber (AF), and solid lubricants to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance. The addition of GF effectively enhanced the tensile strength, flexural modulus, and impact strength of PPS, while solid lubricants such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$), and tungsten disulfide ($WS_2$) lowered the friction coefficients of the composites to below 0.3. The ball nut and motor pulley of the electric power steering (EPS) were manufactured using the PPS composites, and feasibility was ascertained thereafter by conducting the durability test. The composites filled with GF and AF showed high mechanical strength, but slip occurred at the interface between the pulley and belt while testing above $50^{\circ}C$. When small amounts of lubricants were added, the slip was no longer detected because of the suppression of friction heat. It is realized that the low friction as well as high mechanical properties is important to ensure the reliability of plastic pulleys.
Among various two-dimensional (2D) materials, 2D semiconductors and insulators have attracted a great deal of interest from nanoscience community beyond graphene, due to their attractive and unique properties. Such excellent characteristics have triggered highly active researches on 2D materials, such as hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), and tungsten diselenide (WSe2). New physics observed in 2D semiconductors allow for development of new-concept devices. Especially, these emerging 2D materials are promising candidates for flexible and transparent electronics. Recently, van der Waals heterostructures (vdWH) have been achieved by putting these 2D materials onto another, in the similar way to build Lego blocks. This enables us to investigate intrinsic physical properties of atomically-sharp heterostructure interfaces and fabricate high performance optoelectronic devices for advanced applications. In this talk, fundamental properties of various 2D materials will be introduced, including growth technique and influence of defects on properties of 2D materials. We also fabricate high performance electronic/optoelectronic devices of vdWH, such as transistors, memories, and solar cells. The device platform based on van der Waals heterostructures show huge improvement of devices performance, high stability and transparency/flexibility due to unique properties of 2D materials and ultra-sharp heterointerfaces. Our work paves a new way toward future advanced electronics based on 2D materials.
Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have attracted significant attention due to their unique and exotic properties attributed to their low dimensionality. In particular, semiconducting 2D TMDCs such as $MoS_2$, $WS_2$, $MoSe_2$, and $WSe_2$ have been demonstrated to be feasible for various advanced electronic and optical applications. In these regards, process to synthesize high quality 2D TMDCs layers with high reliability, wafer-scale uniformity, controllable layer number and excellent electronic properties is essential in order to use 2D TMDCs in practical applications. Vapor deposition techniques, such as physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition and atomic layer deposition, could be promising processes to produce high quality 2D TMDCs due to high purity, thickness controllability and thickness uniformity. In this article, we briefly review recent research trend on vapor deposition techniques to synthesize 2D TMDCs.
Molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$) based electrocatalysts have been proposed as substitutes for platinum group metal (PGM) based electrocatalyst to hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in water electrolysis. Here, we studied $MoS_2/CNFs$ hybrid catalyst prepared by electrospinning method with heat treatment for polymer electrolyte membrane(PEM) water electrolysis to improve the HER activity. The physicochemical and electrochemical properties such as average diameter, crystalline properties, electrocatalitic activity for HER of synthesized $MoS_2/CNFs$ were investigated by the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Raman Spectroscopy (Raman) and Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV). The as spun ATTM/PVP nanofibers were prepared by sol-gel and electrospinning method. Subsequently, the $MoS_2/CNFs$ was dereived from reduction heat treatment of ATTM at the ATTM/PVP nanofibers and carbonization heat treatment. Synthesized $MoS_2/CNFs$ electrocatalyst had an average diameter of $179{\pm}30nm$. We confirmed that the $MoS_2$ layers in $MoS_2/CNF$ electrocatalyst consist of 3~4 layers from the Raman results. In addition, We confirmed that the $MoS_2$ layers in $MoS_2/CNF$ catalyst consist of 7.47% octahedral 1T phase $MoS_2$, 63.77% trigonal prismatic 2H phase $MoS_2$ with 28.75% $MoO_3$ through the XRD, Raman and XPS results. It was shown that $MoS_2/CNFs$ had the overpotential of 0.278 V at $10mA/cm^2$ and tafel slope of 74.8 mV/dec in 0.5 M sulfuric acid ($H_2SO_4$) electrolyte.
Graphene by one of the two-dimensional (2D) materials has been focused on electronic applications due to its ultrahigh carrier mobility, outstanding thermal conductivity and superior optical properties. Although graphene has many remarkable properties, graphene devices have low on/off current ratio due to its zero bandgap. Despite considerable efforts to open its bandgap, it's hard to obtain appropriate improvements. To solve this problem, heterojunction barristor was proposed based on graphene. Mostly, this heterojunction barristor is made by transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), such as molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$) and tungsten diselenide ($WSe_2$), which have extremely thickness scalability of TMDs. The heterojunction barristor has the advantage of controlling graphene's Fermi level by applying gate bias, resulting in barrier height modulation between graphene interface and semiconductor. However, charged impurities between graphene and $SiO_2$ cause unexpected p-type doping of graphene. The graphene's Fermi level modulation is expected to be reduced due to this p-doping effect. Charged impurities make carrier mobility in graphene reduced and modulation of graphene's Fermi level limited. In this paper, we investigated theoretically and experimentally a relevance between graphene's Fermi level and p-type doping. Theoretically, when Fermi level is placed at the Dirac point, larger graphene's Fermi level modulation was calculated between -20 V and +20 V of $V_{GS}$. On the contrary, graphene's Fermi level modulation was 0.11 eV when Fermi level is far away from the Dirac point in the same range. Then, we produced two types heterojunction barristors which made by p-type doped graphene and graphene treated 2.4% APTES, respectively. On/off current ratio (32-fold) of graphene treated 2.4% APTES was improved in comparison with p-type doped graphene.
