다공성 박판형 러너를 사용한 초소형 렌즈 사출금형 개발 (Development of Injection Mold for Subminiature Lenses Using Shell Runners Containing Multiple Holes)

  • This study aims to develop an efficient mold structure for the injection molding of a subminiature lens, using shell-type runners instead of traditional cylindrical runners. While the shell runner has the advantage of shorter cooling time due to its thinner geometry, this smaller thickness causes an increase in injection pressure. In this study, the design of the shell runner was modified to contain multiple holes for the purpose of reducing injection pressure. Numerical analyses were performed for shell runners of various hole-shapes, and the resulting filling and cooling characteristics were discussed; the rhombic hole showed the best result for both filling and cooling characteristics. Subsequently, injection molding experiments were performed using an injection mold fabricated based on the rhombic design. The lens parts were successfully molded with highly-reduced cycle time and without degradation of part quality.

가변 금형온도 제어기법을 적용한 사출금형의 냉각성능 고찰 (Investigation of Cooling Performance of Injection Molds Using Pulsed Mold Temperature Control)

  • 금형온도는 사출성형시 수지의 유동특성이나 성형품의 변형에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변수로서, 고온의 수지 주입과 냉각회로에 주입되는 냉각수의 영향을 받아 사출 사이클이 반복될수록 온도의 상승과 하강이 반복되는 주기적인 변화특성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 금형 냉각회로에 저온과 고온의 유체를 번갈아 주입하는 가변 금형온도 제어기법을 적용하여 성형전에는 금형온도를 높게 유지하고 성형후에는 낮게 유지함으로써 사출성형시 품질과 생산성을 동시에 높일 수 있는 연구를 수행하였다. 특히 열전달-유동해석을 연계한 다중사이클 사출성형 과도해석을 수행하여 수지와 금형, 냉각수간의 과도적인 온도변화를 수치적으로 고찰하였고, 기존 냉각방법과의 해석결과를 비교하여 제안된 가변 금형온도 제어기법의 가열 및 냉각과정에서의 효율성을 비교하였다.

핫러너 금형에서 다수 캐비티 사이에 발생하는 충전불균형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Filling Imbalances between Multi-Cavity in Hot-Runner Mold)

  • Recently plastic parts are molded for the purpose of mass production in multi-cavity system. Therefore, designer is usually designing mold that has geometrically balanced runner lay-out for filling balance at each cavity. Although, mold is manufactured with geometrically balanced runner lay-out, there are actually filling imbalances in the cavities. These filling imbalances phenomenon are caused by complicated interaction between melt and mold. In this study, based on previous studies for filling imbalances in cold-runner mold, filling imbalances in hot-runner mold were investigated by CAE and injection molding experiments. ABS and PMMA as amorphous polymer, PA as crystalline polymer were used to compare the filling imbalances. There were different results of CAE and experiment. The filling imbalances decreased as injection rate increased without regard to kind of resins and were lower than the one of cold-runner.

  • 플라스틱 재료는 재생이 가능한 열가소성 플라스틱과 재생이 거의 불가능한 열경화성 플라스틱으로 분류 할 수 있고, 본 연구에서는 재생이 가능한 열가소성 플라스틱 중 산업 및 생활 전반에 널리 사용되고 있는 PP. PA6, PC 및 PBT 재료의 재생 방안에 대한 기초 연구로서 재생 재료의 혼합비가 증가함에 따라 치수 정밀도에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다.

Family 금형의 충전 균형을 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study for the Filling Balance of the Family Mold)

  • It is well known that the family-mold has an advantage to reduce the cost for production and mold. However, defects are frequently occurred by over packing the smaller volume cavity during molding, especially when the family-mold has a volumetric difference between two cavities. In this study, the cavity-filling imbalance was confirmed by the temperature and the pressure sensors, and a variable-runner system was developed for balancing the cavity-filling. Experiments of balancing the cavity filling was carried out in the family-mold with the variable-runner system, and balancing the cavity-filling was confirmed by changing the cross-sectional area of a runner in the variable-runner system with the temperature and pressure sensors. The influence of the injection speed to the balancing-capability of the variable-runner system was also examined in the experiment.

재활용 플라스틱 재료의 혼합비가 성형품 수축에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Mixed Rate of Recycled Resin on the Shrinkage in Molded Parts)

  • In this study, an experimental work was performed to mold tensile specimens by using the injection molding machine. Melt temperature, mold temperature and the mixed rate of recycled resin were selected as processing parameters for studing the effect of those condition on the shrinkage and weight of molded parts. As a result, the shrinkage was increased with the higher mold and melt temperature and It was more senstive to the change of mold temperature. On the other hand, the weight of molded parts was decreased with the increment of mold and melt temperature.

  • In order to enhance the productivity of design and manufacture of injection molds, various computer-aided systems have been developed and introduced to mold manufacturers. The customized 3-D CAD systems for mold design is one of the most representative computer-aided system. However, these systems usually do not provide a convenient way to access and manage design knowledge implemented in them. To overcome this shortage, knowedge-based engineering systems have been developed, and now they are imbedded as modules of commercial CAD systems. In this paper, we introduced a 3-D design system for standard mold base based on Knowledge Fusion, a commercialized KBE system imbedded in Unigraphics. By introducing KBE system, design knowledge can be exposed to the users and modified by the end-users.

  • 나노 패턴을 갖는 미세 구조물을 낮은 비용으로 생산하기 위해서는 플라스틱 재료를 이용하는 것이 필수적이고, 대량생산이 가능한 가공방법으로 사출성형 공정기술이 유망하다. 본 연구에서는 e-beam 리소그라피로 제작된 석영원판 내의 100-500nm크기의 선과 점 형상을 간단한 thermal embossing 공정을 이용하여 액상 PDMS를 고형화 시킨 후에 원판과 분리시켜 PDMS 몰드를 제작하였다. 실험결과, 원판에 있는 나노 크기의 다양한 패턴들은 PDMS 몰드에 균일하게 전사되었고, 이 몰드는 사출성형용 스탬퍼 제작에 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

고주파 유도가열을 사용한 급속 금형가열에 관한 연구 (A Study on Rapid Mold Heating System using High-Frequency Induction Heating)

  • Rapid mold heating has been recent issue to enable the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Induction heating is an efficient way to heat a conductive workpiece by means of high-frequency electric current caused by electromagnetic induction. Because the induction heating is a convenient and efficient way of indirect heating, it has various applications such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, melting, and mold heating. The present study covers an experimental investigation on the rapid heating using the induction heating and rapid cooling using a vortex tube in order to eliminate an excessive cycle time increase. Experiments are performed in the case of a steel cup mold core with various heating and cooling conditions. Temperature is measured during heating and cooling time, from which appropriate mold heating and cooling conditions can be obtained.

새로운 내측기어 성형용 사출성형 금형구조의 개발 (Development of a new injection mold structure for internal gears)

  • As a rotating machine element, plastic gears are more and more widely used in such as industrial machine element, since plastic gear is lighter, higher wear-resistance, and higher vibration absorbing ability than metal gears. When operating plastic parts, tooth breakage and fatigue life shortened due to increasing number of applying load and tooth flank temperature rising, such that accuracy of plastic gears is divided from allowable range to cause vibration and noise. On this study, a internal plastic gears are developed which improved the filling balance molding process by a new injection mold structure. The new mold structure called HR3P(hot runner type 3plate mold). As the result from this studies, we obtained a very accurate roundness internal gears by using design of experiment.
